Ashley Raymer-Brown and Rachael Yeager decided early in the pre-production process that they would use rural locations in Kentucky and all local actors in order to prove that you don't have to go to big cities in order to make a film.
Rachael Yeager drew inspiration from an eye disease she suffers from, Choroidal Neovascularization, to write the character of Beth Ann. While not a paraplegic, she has said that she can relate to the character and that the story, in a sense, is her own.
Nils Hamilton is a long time friend of Ashley Raymer-Brown and Rachael Yeager. They have performed on stage together in numerous productions, including original shows from Third Act Theatre Troupe, a traveling theatre started by Rachael, Ashley, and her husband Brian Douglas Barker.
