Cheap Thrills - Those Drive-in Horror Flicks

This "documentary" of old 50s and 60s sci-fi and horror movies is really not as unwatchable as some of the earlier reviewers have stated. It contains scenes from between 40 and 50 different movies lasting anywhere from 30 seconds to well over a minute. This movie is worth watching, if, for no other reason, then to marvel at the cheesy special effects, poor make up of these monsters and any of other things found in the films.

There's bad lighting, fuzzy, film, quality, and dubious dialogue all the way around. But, if nothing else, there are plenty of scenes to view. Each clip is labels the movie from which it is shown , but that's all. There are no voice overs, no explanations of any type, or any kind of organization to this film whatsoever.

If you like a lot of screaming, thrashing around and ridiculous monsters which make you laugh, then I think you'll enjoy watching this short film.

This is one of the worst documentaries I've ever seen. In the synopsis the clips are called "Action Packed". More like sleep-inducing. They're not even trailers, they're bad copies of movies few people have heard of, let alone seen. Many of Larry Buchanan's trash rip offs of AIP's better 50's films are included. There isn't even any narration, just a quick title card and then it's one forgettable snoozefest after another. The only film on here worth seeing is The Brain that Wouldn't Die. The rest are forgettable trash. They've even thrown in one made for TV, Snowbeast, another of the endless movies about the abominable snowman. Not even worth the hour and 16 minute running length to watch.

What a waste. No structure. No context. Nothing even remotely interesting to say. Absolutely horrendous. It opens with a "history" of horror movies that lasts all of two minutes. Then, it just aimlessly jumps from movie to movie with no reason whatsoever. It goes from a five minute clip from Mission to Mars to the original Night of the Living Dead! Why? Is there something that connects the two? Is there a hidden subtext that hasn't been revealed before? Of course not. It does nothing to promote horror films as art or entertainment. This is even worse than those "documentaries" that just string together trailers. Avoid at all costs.
