I am BEGGING YOU to not sleep on what I'm about to say... DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON SEEING THIS MOVIE! Don't waste the gas or electricity to drive to the theater! Don't waste the movie that's included with your frequent moviegoer membership. Don't waste the time it will rob you in your life to stream it. JUST DON'T! It's poorly written, poorly acted (I'm not sure WTF Jamie Foxx was thinking when he signed the deal memo because this is NOTHING that an Academy Award winning actor should have their name attached to), the production level is cheap, and on top of that, IT'S NOT FUNNY! I literally sat through all but the last 5 minutes and NEVER LAUGHED, SNICKERED, OR CHUCKLED. NOT ONCE! Since I was the sole viewer, I have no comparison but I submit the only review on IMBb (accurate). Left early because I refused to waste another moment on this embarrassing disaster PLUS after investing an hour and 25 minutes of my precious life in this POS disguised as cinema, I didn't GAF how it ended. Do you BUT remember that I tried to warn your hardheaded asses! (This review is funnier than the entire movie!) If there is a got, there won't be another movie of ANY kind from this writer/director!

I've seen Founder's Day. I've seen My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3. I've seen Mea Culpa. I've even seen Thankskilling 3. All of those movies are masterpieces of cinema compared to the incoherent train wreck that is Not Another Church Movie. This movie is chock full of atrocious direction, editing, and writing in this 90 minute dumpster fire with nary a laugh to be had. Jamie Foxx clearly shot his scenes in a day, Mickey Rourke shot his horribly rendered green screen scenes in probably an hour, and everyone else in the movie just downright stinks. 45 minutes in, I literally had no idea what was going on with the characters and plot lines. It's just a series of random scenes, non-sequiters, and general nonsense. Even the worst Tyler Perry movie is better than this dreck. Hands down, the worst movie of the decade so far, and it's not even close. I have no idea how this made it to cinemas.
This is a 0 rating.
I've seen better movies on Tubi - no shade! There is no way that this "spoof" should have made it through a review process to even be on the big screen. Bad acting even from known vet actors/actresses. Flat punchlines! This movie could have clearly been on YouTube or not released at all. My family and I decided to leave after about 30 ish minutes. Literally nothing funny. We headed straight to customer service for a refund and was provided free passes on the next visit. I take accountability because I should have watched the trailers and read reviews because this was a major FLOP. Whoever created the movie must like to waste money.

The absolute worst movie I've ever seen on every level. I can honestly say I didn't expect much but some classic laughs you get from low budget spoof movies but didn't even get that. I don't know who to blame, writers, producers, or director.
It's like they all held hands and agreed it was a good idea to jump off a cliff together.
It was a train wreck. I'm sad I'll never get my time back.
The writing was just terrible. I'd say a child wrote it but it would have been better.
And Jaimie must have owed someone a favor, cause damn! Now mickey on the other hand, no surprise there.
Please for the love of Jaimie Fox save your time and money.

When I sat down to watch the 2024 comedy "Not Another Church Movie", I must admit that I wasn't really harboring much of any grand expectations. The premise of the movie just didn't really prove all that interesting, and the fact that the movie had Mickey Rourke on the cast list as the Devil and Jamie Foxx as God, well that didn't exactly entice my in the least bit.
Writer and director Johnny Mack swung and missed. The storyline in this movie was devoid of funny situations, and I didn't even laugh a single time throughout the course of the 90 minutes that the movie ran for.
The acting performances in the movie were fair, though the actors and actresses had very little to work with. It was a bit of a surprise to see Vivica A. Fox in a movie such as this. It was painful to watch Jamie Foxx stumbling about on the screen in the role of God. And Mickey Rourke, well he just stood around and melted a bit more.
If you enjoy comedy spoof movies, then your money and time is better spent elsewhere, because "Not Another Church Movie" was a pretty weak movie. And it was quite a struggle to sit through 90 minutes of this ordeal. This 2024 movie from writer and director Johnny Mack was a parody and spoof of the numerous Tyler Perry movies.
And believe me when I say that I am never returning to watch this movie a second time. Nor is it a movie that I would recommend to fans of the comedy genre.
My rating of "Not Another Church Movie" lands on a generous two out of ten stars.

This was a horrible parody movie. The storyline was boring and not funny at all. I wish I could get a refund. I was also not comfortable how God was portrayed. He was using profanity. Very surprised Jamie Foxx would take a role like this but he is an actor. Please do not waste your money or time on this one. I didn't watch the previews or check the reviews prior to going out and watching this horrible movie. It could have been a straight to DVD movie to be totally honest. I think it was a disgrace to Tyler Perry as well. All of his movie haven't been the greatest either but trust me, his worse movie was 20 times better than this one.

We all seen em, we may have even laughed because of the jokes in em...but the world has to realize, that the majority of the Madea movies are some of the worst things to happen to cinema since the old blacksploitation films of he 1960s and 1970s.
But thye are supposed to be comedy, so the irony i that its supposed to be ok when a movie is low brow, low quality, and just overall low class. That being said...This "church" movie, though occasionally funny at ties...paled in comparison to the Madea stuff.
But again, ti reiterate...they are basically the same. This film simply uses PURE parody to tell it like it is, and point out all the nonsense in Tyler Perry's films. And its not the first film to try to do so, because clearly there are tons of people out there that either never liked the films, liked them at one point but began to hate them, liked some of them but hated the rest, or whatever...
End of the day, we need parody when a big film series gets too big for its britches. This was maybe a 4/10 at best, which, though a low rating...is sill close to the average 5.5/10 rating for the BETTER Madea films. Lol Honestly dont get how Tyler Perry became so successful with selling his soul lol.

My local Celebration Cinema, puts this movie out and heard this one was garbage, why did I snuck in for free and did not have to pay $10.29 at the concession stand, I pay for FURIOSA MAD MAX SAGA, you know which movie I did not pay? This one why? Awful absolutely Awful. 10% of the film was some humor but everything else was A. I, CGI, Dumb Sound Effects & Green Screens and I just think it is very controversial. I miss old parody films because it had that charm and humor, this modern version of parody, did not make any sense. Everything else was AWFUL. One of the employees from my local cinema said that I do not have a ticket for this one, he said that your going to have to purchase another movie from these selected titles, theyre going to shut this off immediately because no one showed but I snuck in without pay which is a big problem for the company. Instead, there is two options either 1. Pay $10.29 or pay one movie for a Sunday Discount for $6, or 2. Leave. I choose the second option because it just gotten worse in the courtroom scene when the judge and choir group are singing and I was like wow that was Painful. Like I was HAPPY that I did NOT pay for this. I got my stuff and left the movie theater, just like that, I left the movie theater because I have $0.00 in my checking account.

The real strength of the movie lies in its comedic timing and the cast's performances. The actors fully embrace their exaggerated roles, delivering a mix of witty one-liners and physical comedy. Not every joke hits, but there are enough laugh-out-loud moments to keep you entertained throughout.
On the flip side, the movie doesn't offer much in terms of depth. Themes like faith, community, and redemption are touched upon but not explored in any meaningful way. These elements serve more as backdrops for the humor rather than focal points for reflection. If you're looking for a film with a profound message, this isn't it. But if you're in the mood for some light entertainment, it works.
Visually, the film is colorful and vibrant, matching its playful tone. The soundtrack, blending gospel and pop, adds to the feel-good atmosphere. The direction is solid, focusing more on delivering laughs than on artistic innovation.
It's perfect for a lazy afternoon when you want something light-hearted and silly. Go in with the right expectations, and you'll likely enjoy its charm and humor. It's not groundbreaking, but it's entertaining for what it is.

Despite the fact that this movie is poking fun at Tyler Perry movies, and i would love to know Mr. Madea's opinion of it, the film actually follows the fromula of every Tyler Perry movie I ever scene to the letter. In fact, the joke seems to be just pointing out that formula and detailing the ingredients.
Yeah, it's very jabby but it felt like it was all in fun. I will say I did not get all the jokes because ironically, i did not realize how many Tyler Perry films I never scene. I was just expecting one long joke about Madea, but the film seems to cover the entire "Medeaverse" and basically goes through every film in that universe and I only seem one of two of theses movies.
Plus, you can't beat Jamie Fox playing God.
I can't see anyone who likes Tyler Perry movies not liking this movie. It's a parody but it fits fully into everything those movies are.

Humour is subjective, yes, but this movie was so unfunny that I couldn't be bothered to sit trough all of it. I stopped watching around the 30 minute mark during some kind of picnic scene, after a guy caught on fire and more terrible jokes. I watched this because I felt in the mood for spoof/comedy movies, and Not Another Church Movie killed it. I do not know what is going on in the background, apparently this parody was made to spite another director because he had fired a writer for not being funny enough. If said writer is behind this movie, I'm siding with the director that didn't find him funny. I recognized the character that played God and I have to wonder why would he sign up for this, he's a really famous person that was in Spider-Man movies, has he fallen off?
This movie is corny to the point of flat out silliness but that can be expected based on the title. If you're familiar with the Tyler Perry movies and the religious stuff he puts out there in context so to speak then these jokes will make sense. Even then the humor wore off for me after so many of the same slapstick movies that started with Airplane. Even the first Wayans brothers Scary Movie was funny. This one feels like it does try a little bit too hard for the same result. I'll admit though, adding Mickey Rourke to the mix was actually a good move. Although he'll probably look back and call this garbage, he does look like he's having fun. So just about every cliche sequence you've seen in a Tyler Perry movie is spoofed here. So if you have seen Tyler Perry's work then you'll get this one. If not, then skip it because some of the jokes are direct spoofs of past work of his. Otherwise, wait for streaming services unless you have $11 burning a hole in your pocket.

There was nonstoryline & the acrots wasted their time. The move is completely rushed. For someone who is trying ti dig at Tyler Perry, the movie was terrible. Who is rich like that who can make a movie about this BS?! Like make it make sense.
What a nerve to have Jamie Foxx (like did you do someone a favor to do this?), Tisha Campbell (now you know better!), & Mickey Rourke?? In this rushed and corny satire. I would rather be tortured with a toothbrush.
I honest think it was just terrible & when you have attention issues like this is it! This could have very well have been kept in the chamber.

The film follows the life of Taylor Pharry, played by Kevin Daniels, who is on a mission from God to fulfill his destiny. With a star-studded cast including Mickey Rourke, Tisha Campbell, and Vivica A. Fox, the movie promises a mix of humor and heartfelt moments.
From the get-go, this movie makes it clear that it doesn't take itself too seriously. The plot is filled with zany situations and over-the-top characters that keep the energy high. Kevin Daniels shines as Taylor, bringing a genuine charm and comedic timing that makes his character relatable despite the outrageous circumstances. His journey is both hilarious and touching as he navigates the often absurd challenges thrown his way.
Mickey Rourke as the Devil is a standout. His performance is equal parts menacing and comedic, adding a unique flavor to the movie. The chemistry between the cast members is evident, making the interactions feel natural and engaging. Tisha Campbell and Vivica A. Fox also deliver strong performances, adding depth to the family dynamics at the heart of the story.
Visually, the film is vibrant and colorful, enhancing the comedic tone. The direction by Johnny Mack is playful, allowing for plenty of visual gags and slapstick humor. However, the script sometimes feels a bit scattered, with some jokes landing better than others. There are moments where the pacing dips, but the strong performances help to carry the film through its weaker spots.
Overall, Not Another Church Movie is a fun ride that offers plenty of laughs and a few touching moments. While it may not be perfect, its charm and heart make it worth a watch. If you're in the mood for a comedy that doesn't shy away from poking fun at itself while delivering a positive message, this film is a solid choice.

Not Another Church Movie may not be your typical A-to-Z film, but it certainly delivers where it counts-laughter and entertainment! The movie shines brightest through its sketch-comedy-like structure, with various add-on characters bringing a wave of hilarity in their brief but memorable appearances. The dynamic between the main character and his brother provides some of the funniest moments, sparking laughter with their quirky interactions.
Additionally, Johnny Mack's intricate understanding of the genre is evident in the way he crafts each scene with meticulous attention to detail, making the film a treasure trove of cultural references. While some jokes may fly over the heads of those unfamiliar with Tyler Perry's works, fans will find a rich layer of humor tailored just for them. Overall, it's a film that, as my friend aptly put it, "It's not a great movie, but it's definitely a great time!" If you're looking for a light-hearted, enjoyable watch, "Not Another Church Movie" is sure to deliver.

When it comes to humor, the movie hits a lot of high notes. There are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, thanks to a script packed with clever lines and hilarious situations. The satire is on point, poking fun at the oddities of church culture without being mean-spirited. It's the kind of comedy that lets you laugh at the silliness while still appreciating the heart behind it.
But it's not all jokes. The film does a great job of weaving in themes about faith and community. It's not trying to be a deep theological treatise, but it does highlight important ideas like sticking together, accepting each other, and finding strength in community. The light tone makes these messages easy to digest, even for people who might usually avoid religious movies.
However, the movie does have a bit of a balancing act going on with its tone. Sometimes the switch between funny and serious moments can be a little jarring. There are scenes meant to tug at your heartstrings that might feel a bit too sappy, and others that seem too silly given the context. It doesn't ruin the experience, but it can throw off the rhythm a bit.
Despite some pacing issues and a few uneven moments, Not Another Church Movie is a fun ride. It's got charm, humor, and a positive message that feels genuine. If you're in the mood for something that'll make you laugh and feel good, this movie fits the bill.

This movie is a parody, and I'd say it's a pretty good parody movie. It is on the level of other parody movies such as Date Movie, Superhero Movie, and whatever other parody you can think of. The story is heavily based on Tyler Perry movies, and is more of a jab than the Boondock's Pause episode. Despite it being a jab, it has its corny moments and it has its hilarious moments. The movie loosely follows several Tyler Perry movies, and is even funnier if you've seen Tyler Perry's plays. This movie is not a blockbuster and is not a movie that you'll enjoy without the context of Perry's movies. I definitely think this movie is worth watching if you've been missing a good parody movie or if you are familiar with the works of Tyler Perry, it's worth a watch. You'll get a good laugh, despite some of the lackluster acting. This should at least be available on Tubi or Peacock, due to the quality of the filming and acting.

"Not Another Church Movie," directed by Johnny Mack, attempts to spoof Tyler Perry's renowned Madea franchise, but it largely misses the mark. The film stars Kevin Daniels, Mickey Rourke, and Jamie Foxx, with Daniels delivering a notable performance as Taylor Pherry and MaDude. Despite these efforts, the film struggles due to poor direction and a lack of cohesive comedic timing () ().
The movie's production quality is noticeably low, and the direction fails to land many of its intended jokes. While Mack's script has potential, his inexperience in filmmaking results in choppy editing and mismanaged pacing that detracts from the humor ( ). Additionally, the film's attempts at parody fall short, often resorting to direct reenactments of Perry's scenes without adding new comedic or critical layers
The film also suffers from a lack of meaningful satire. While it touches on some of Perry's well-known tropes, it does not delve deeply into more substantial critiques, leaving much of its parody feeling toothless and overly reliant on surface-level gags ().
Overall, "Not Another Church Movie" might entertain fans of low-budget comedies, but it does not offer the sharp, insightful parody it seems to aim for. The performances, especially from Daniels, provide some bright spots, but they are not enough to overcome the film's broader shortcomings.

This movie deserves a better rating, it's funny in a clever way, I think it's very easy to get a movie like this wrong and be very corny, this one for me is really entertaining and not corny. It reminds us it's important to remember not to take things too seriously and laugh at ourselves, society etc. I loved it and I wish people watch and enjoy it too, so we can get more movies like this every once in a while!
I nearly missed out on a really good laugh, there's a few movies you have to give a chance and decide for yourself. There's also great talent in it who bring great performances. I watched it and I wish more people watch it and we get a sequel just as funny!
