Not believable
juliefolden16 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
35 year old woman deciding if she wants to be a princess. Living and acting like she is in her early 20's. It wasn't believable at all. From the time they are born, Royalty is trained to that lifestyle. She is a gallery owner, but acts like a college student. Her 33 year old beat friend decides it's time to grow up and get a real job. The ages in the script don't match the story. This could have been interesting but they just didn't pull it off. Bottom line... not a believable story, characters weren't well developed, and the plot lacked anything of real importance. Superficially underwhelming.

Entitled princess despite her claims...
Lily-3219 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I appreciate the attempt to subvert some expectations. But the attempts weren't executed as well as they'd hoped. Problems with the execution include unanswered questions like:

What exactly dis she think was going to happen? She's the only child in a 500 year long royal family line but is completely surprised when parents come a-callin' with info about succession. Really? Sis she think mommy and daddy was going to live forever? Did she think the line would end with them in which case why was she surprise about him possibly abdicating? And really? She's the last in the line and she's allowed to run amok in NY until her child bearing years are almost over? And not once did this "total chill down to earth girl" think about what would come Next for her family. But she's not spoiled or entitled. Yeah right. She's so not spoiled in fact that her victim rant when her bodyguard tries to defend her by taking her side over dork earls comment is totally justified.

Only 30 min in and I almost can't stand it. I have to see how this train wreck ends but golly it's bad.

A different Royal movie
Jackbv12329 January 2023
The early part of this movie caught my interest because so much was different from the usual Royal movies, of which I am not a fan. For starters, Lexi, the princess, is living independently in NYC and making her own way. She has been for 10 years. Her parents, including the King, have given her a great deal of freedom and they discuss any differences of opinion openly and reasonably for the most part. There are no ogres and while these parents are somewhat protective, they are not in any way the usual overbearing parents. There is one exception - the bodyguard and Lexi doesn't waste a lot of time objecting to it.

Lexi must go on three dates to audition, if you will, prospects for her date to a Gala. The first two are the usual cliche bad dates. Meanwhile most things are developing predictably. And much of that part of the movie is spent showing Lexi agonizing and considering her choice for the future. That and getting to know her bodyguard, Noah.

The acting is OK. The story is OK but predictable with no great highs or lows or surprises. The dialogue is also OK, but not sparkling. I had no complaints about sound or sets. Ryan Bruce's Noah is a very cold fish in the beginning and I was worried he would have no personality, but as things progressed, he opened up and there was some chemistry with Emily Alatalo. Alatalo's Lexi is appealing both in personality and appearance.

Mediocre
boriskaiser4 December 2022
This is another mediocre Reel One Entertainment TV movie. It's about fictional European royal family, rebellious princess trope, and includes many royal family stereotypes. Obviously, it was used so many times that you know what you are going to watch. However, execution is bad. Let me explain.

Audio production is weird. There is barely any obnoxiously loud background music which is shockingly positive suprise for a ROE TV movie, but dialogue recording is a huge mess. In one scene, everything is ok, and in the next, it's just bad and it's like that in the whole movie. I never heard something like that. They overused stock footage so viewers think the movie location is in NYC as was stated several times, but even carefully shoot outdoor scenes reveal typical Canada urban scenery, and this time, like many other times, it's Hamilton. There are several outright bad cuts. The main actress had bad makeup most of the movie. I can overlook everything above if at least direction and writing were somehow compentent, and sadly they are not.

Acts I and II are almost full comedy. There is barely any romance. There is one scene in Act II when movie literally parodies itself! And then in Act III, you guess, sudden and forced drama for no reason at all. Did I mention that "romance" between main leads was totally forced and unnatural?

Like in the best and worst ROE tradition, you can watch the whole movie compressed in 2:05 min long trailer.

A good movie with a good cast.. quite enjoyable
druatlax25 January 2023
Please Allow me a personal note: in a movie world of angst- or blood and gore-or animated children's fare, there needs to be a place where you can enjoy laughs, joy, a bit of drama, and many smiles. This is one of those.

A bit off-kilter from the usual story, with it's very human, and surprisingly realistic list of characters, I was pleasantly surprised. I loved the different people, which in many cases I had not seen on screen before. These beautiful souls made the movie a more real slice of life which we so rarely see in movies with predictable characters as in most movies.

So, I highly recommend this movie. Really. For a simple, sometimes complicated-but realistic-view of lives with a honest look at people who are not all stereotypes, but rather those we see and/or know in our own lives.... Watch and Enjoy!

Another dumb rom-com.
Avidviewer-0284722 February 2023
I can't recall watching a rom-com that portrayed royalty authentically, it's usually a stupid script by a writer who knows nothing about real royalty. Some writers try, but the bulk are just lame like this one. The heir to a fictitious throne has to return to her country after living for15 years in NYC, isn't really believable.

Emily Alatalo is a poor actress, her character doesn't have the manners and class that you'd expect from someone trained for a royal role. Guess there must be a market for B, C & D level films like this one. There are a few good actors, but most seem like 1st year drama students who haven't worked in front of a camera before. AnnaMaria Demara is also bad casting.

Terrible in my opinion..
nyym-852932 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Honestly acting is terrible location was wrong Lexi stated she has been in NY for 15 Years I think or 10 I don't remember cause to much was going on..the location looks nothing like NY so that pissed me off and I hate how she had mixed emotions in the beginning saying things like "Who am I" like who do you think you are somebody grandpa? Anyway when the so called paparazzi came that blew me off completely it was so fake so weird and terrible acting lord I was falling off my chair cause of how bad this movie it could be so much better with better acting more quality and actually film it in NY, now lets talk about the love and hate romance between the bodyguard and the miserable princess its so dumb to me sorry but am picky and honestly I hated the acting the scene where she texted Noah and acted so shy was dumb to me like what are you shy for ? Oh and the photos on the messages killed me why did they do that to them.. overall it has terrible acting.

Princess turns 35 and her King and Queen come looking for her.
TxMike25 August 2023
My wife and I enjoy Hallmark style movies and this is one is in that style, but not a Hallmark movie. It mostly follows the general blueprint.

Lexi is an artist with a shop in New York, she is turning 35, what only she knows is that she is actually a Princess of a small (fictional) country in Europe. When she was 20 her parents, the King and Queen, gave her permission to leave the country and make her own life in New York. Even her roommate and best friend of 10 years doesn't know.

Now that she is turning 35 her mom and dad show up to see her and have dinner at the hotel. Seems there is a rule they didn't tell her about, she had to decide now if she will agree to return and eventually become the Royalty of that small country. Her parents had never told her that, until now, because they figured she would return on her own some time before turning 35.

So the whole story involves that and her need to get some sort of royalty "date" for an upcoming gala. Meanwhile she notices that a man shows up everywhere she goes, finally learning he was hired by the King to watch out for her, a bodyguard if you will.

So the title of the movie pretty much tells you where this will go. As clean movies go it is nicely entertaining. We enjoyed it, streaming on Prime.
