From Russia with Laughs
corrosion-225 July 2012
St.Petersburg is one of the few genuinely funny films made in Iran in last few years which delivers laughs through a first rate script full of memorable dialog and clever situations.

A couple of drifters come upon a dying old man in the street who whispers to them the existence of a treasure from the Tsar's era somewhere in Tehran. The rest of the film concerns the hilarious attempts of these two to find the treasure and their continuous attempts to con each other.

The script by veteran script writer Pemyan Ghasemkhani (who plays one of the drifters) is first class and the direction by Afkhami is inventive, milking maximum laughs from every opportunity. A sequel is already on the way!
