With prison dramas there are some well worn tropes and I expected some of it for the finale.
So I was mildly surprised that Time series 2 steered in a different direction. There was a lot of hope even if it was a bittersweet kind.
Kelsey losing the custody of her baby when her boyfriend brings drugs into the prison. He was hoping she would get caught and lose the baby. Angry that she did not name him after him.
Eventually Kelsey realised that she needs to break away from Adam if she needs to live a clean life with her and her baby.
Orla finishes her sentence, extended because of the attack on her fellow cellmate. She is released with her tent as there is no hostel with spare capacity to rehome her.
This episode was broadcast in the same week that the Tory government were considering outlawing homeless people living in tents as it was a lifestyle choice.
Abi eventually told her tragic story. How she felt alone with her post natal depression, a husband that did not care, a baby that could not stop crying. Abi finally showed her vulnerable side.
It ended with a message of reluctant acceptance, even an expectation of something better around the corner.
With a stodgy dodgy middle episode, Time series 2 finished strongly.
