Pakistani movie at its best
Kornephoros2 September 2011
The movie was really an experience and the type that lingers on long after you have left the theatre. I must admit that this is Pakistani cinema at its best. On one hand the movie effortlessly touches upon social issues prevailing in any society and on the other the acting by everyone in the movie is par excellence. There were numerous moments in the movie when we had tears in our eyes and quite a few when we couldn't control our laughter.

I would also like to mention that the references to Tendulkar and Meena Kumari are really note worthy and the director/producer deserves applause.

Please do see the movie if you are a connoisseur of good unadulterated cinema.

A phenomenal film, revealing the bitter realities of this society.
mudassir_75425 June 2011
BOL, a much awaited Pakistani movie with huge expectations due to Shoib Mansoor's previous successful film KHUDA KAY LIYE and insertion of Atif Aslam and Iman Ali in the cast. The title of this movie is like ordering someone to speak out which runs parallel to the context of the film, inspiring the audience to raise their voices against the tyranny and brutality of our current society. This movie has got a well-written story, great direction, extra-ordinary acting by the lead roles, beautiful music and an incredible message to all the families of this world. The cons of this movie are the abusive language and over-criticism on the religion. Humaima Malick, Manzar Sehbai, Iman Ali and Shafqat Cheema gave an outstanding performance in their roles. Atif Aslam tried to perform good but his acting was just OK, although he did great in music collaborating with Hadiqa Kiyani. Shoib Manzoor did a great job in direction and story, pointing out the problems covering all the aspects of life and giving his own instructive solutions. Story: 9/10 Direction: 10/10 Acting: 9.5/10 Music: 9/10 Overall, BOL lived up to the expectations and its already a block-buster. It is a must watch film and worthy for your time and money. Rating: 9/10

It does not speak, It screams...
redarea2 September 2011
BOL(speak up) doesn't speak, it screams. This movie has got brilliant feedbacks from people living inside or outside Pakistan but one must not be mistaken by considering this movie all about religion. No, its not. In fact this movie is about social problems of Pakistani society rather than their misconception of the religious. There is a very thin line between these two things and people living outside Pakistan may take it in a wrong way. The lead character (father) is not depicting a "muslim father", in fact he is depicting an illiterate and socially sick person who can be found in any religion or in any society. It is a hardcore movie and the pros of the movie are its story, performances of lead roles and last but not the least the director. On the other side there are many cons of the movie i-e publicity gimmick of including Atif Aslam in the cast who can hardly deliver a single dialogue. At time the movie seems too loud to be realistic. Some of the scenes are too bold that you may feel awkward if watching with your family. The director failed to differentiate the social issues and religious issues and viewers get the feeling that the movie is all against the religion which is not the case. But still this is a very good effort and a movie that needs to be seen by everyone once at least. My rating is 7/10.

Did the movie live up to the expectations/hype? YES!
waeed_khan4 July 2011
When I was walking into the theatre, I didn't think the movie was going to be very memorable, but I was wrong. The movie hits hard and is a roller coaster ride of emotions. Humour was present to break the seriousness of the film and make the movie even more enjoyable. The acting was pretty convincing with the exception of Atif Aslam. The film direction was superb and so was the story. I heard many say that the movie consisted of too many different plot lines and controversies, but I believe Shoaib Mansoor did a great job tying all loose ends and making the plot solid. It was a HUGE step forward from "Khuda key liye". Shoman does indeed learn fast. The camera work and the sound was astonishingly better than it's predecessor. It was also pretty much entirely based on the elements of realism. It surfaced plenty of tragic, but existing, traits of the lower class society in Pakistan. The movie was thoroughly engulfing. Shoman did, indeed, work his magic yet again! An amazing movie which depicts all that is wrong with the Pakistani society! It's a must watch for everyone!

When I saw Khuda Ke Liye was totally amazed by the writing and Skills of the team and was eagerly waiting for their next one and trust me BOL has taken my expectations to the Next level.

Not just a Brilliant Story line but the underline message would make you Think from the bottom of your heart about the Value of Life in India and Pakistan.

To add further the acting of whole cast was Outstanding. I sincerely Congratulate its maker's for a valiant effort and would love to see this move in Oscar's Race... Trust me.. it deserves much more!

Respect for the Team of BOL!!

My First Review on IMDb for this amazing Movie...!

Thank you Shoman!
frazbama27 June 2011
Sometimes the prevalent brutality of reality subdues our senses for long enough to declare barbaric actions as legitimate. Barbaric laws as legal necessities. Allow this status quo to brew and grow for generations and centuries and it results in a stymied populace perpetually terrorizing itself through doctrinal teachings that classify and rank human beings. Bol not only rejects the age-old foundations for grading humans based on gender, but provides inspiration to a self-terrorized society about the beautiful possibilities that emerge if we choose to speak up and break the shackles inherited from the past.

Shoaib Mansoor (Shoman) knows how to paint a story in all its hues without losing the end picture if you will. His previous works are a homage, a reverence and a celebration of dance, poetry, music and art. His foray into film with Khuda Kay Liyay gave the impression that Shoman was not content with making great music or entertaining television serials. He wanted to take on a society that was increasingly duplicitous and constantly bending to the whims of obscurantism and willing to bury its beautiful heritage. With Bol he has again come out all guns blazing. Shoman isn't merely showing the mirror to society but goes for the jugular in a nihilist barrage against a decadent order represented by Hakim Syed Shafqatullah played by Manzar Sehbai.

Shafqatullah's inherited but hopelessly dwindling business in herbal medicine in an era where exposure to medical science had won over the sick contrasts with his attempts to maintain a secluded, pure existence at home. His daughters cannot leave home much less work. However, his unmet desire to father a male child infuriates him and the frustration is taken out against the females of his household.

In many ways it is a reflection of contemporary Pakistani Muslim society which cannot cope with the brutal truths of science and seeks remedies in the shrubs of faith. When that doesn't work economically weak individuals, groups and minorities are made scapegoats and used to create a mirage of power for the majority.

But this is a movie, not a post-modern feminist narrative. Furthermore, it is a Pakistani movie in an era when desperate attempts to resuscitate the film industry have yet to deliver results. Shoman continues to carry this national burden along with his socio-political message inserted in an entertainment medium. How does a single director take up these challenges within a three hour time frame while not losing the audience? Enter Shafqat Cheema playing the role of Saqa Kanjar from the Old Lahore red light district where moral standards are turned head over heals with female children valued and males seen as a burden. Apart from infusing the film with heavy doses of comical entertainment, the character simultaneously sets up as the foil to Hakim Shafqatullah. While the preference for female children as future money earning prostitutes offer a resounding contrast, it also highlights the middle-class urban religious moral standards where women are only be perceived in two categories: either as heavenly pure or slutty whores. These extreme ends give comfort to morals of mortals. So Syed Shafqatullah can digest sleeping with a dancing girl but refuses to allow his daughters to find a clerical job since that would be morally confusing.

Today's Pakistan is society in a flux where everyday honor killings have become an acceptable norm. The demonic of codes of honor have become the moral standards which need to be met for living a dignified life. Thus, Saifi, the eunuch child of Shafqatullah, meets a fate often read in the headlines of daily papers. Shoman deliberately refuses to grant audience the ease of moral extremes and constantly forces them into the gray unknowns of life where the purity of human emotions and desires prove to be more resilient and worthy of admiration than edicts and mechanical structures of faith. When Humaima Malik declares she has committed murder, but not sinned, we are forced to question the concepts of crime and punishment in theological jurisprudence. The sequence of sin equaling a crime necessitating punishment is broken. A sin may not be a crime, and so negating the need for punishment.

There are several flaws one can point to in the film. Atif Aslam's role was under-utilized. Cinematography was weak. At times Humaima's dialog turns preachy and may have been better and more powerful if left unsaid - but then again, the title of the movie suggests otherwise.

Shoman's ability to hit the nerves sets him apart from from many a famous director and script writer. He could achieve far greater success and fame if he stuck to merely entertaining audiences. But Shoman uses cinema with all its potential to plant the seeds of change. Khuday Kay Liyay was one of the three most successful films of all time. To this day, its music and message cause headaches as they confront the conservative orders of society. Bol goes several steps further. Sometime from now, the National College of Arts or other institutions teaching film studies, will be analyzing these films that carry within them both the analysis of a nation as well as a positive vision for the future.

Speak Out...!
bhatia-apurv31 August 2011
Your eyes well up as the narrative unfolds,as the protagonists fall into a trap one after the other & life becomes mesh of complexities, there's frustration and sweat on your face and a sense of helplessness resonating from the 70mm screen... Just how many times has this happened to you while watching a movie, as tears roll down your cheeks, you just let them flow & experience the cinematic brilliance on portrayal..

Shoab Mansoor's "Bol" is one such hard-hitting, rock solid film that wakes u up from d slumbers & u witness d harsh realities of an impoverished Muslim household where the preference for male child leads to 7 daughters being born & thus begins dere journey into d world of poverty & disdain. Debutant Hummaima Malick & Manzar Sehbai's stellar performances & a great script were the perfect setting Bol... Atif Aslam needs to work a lot on his dialogue delivery and his best in d movie comes only in d song-Hona Tha Pyaar.. Mahirah Khan is decent in d screen presence but the starlet here is Hummaima. Hope she has a role to play in Indian Cinema too.. The movie's already reached a cult status but is for the afficianados & d film buffs. Deserves a 4/5.. Go for this one,its a touching tale..

Greatest Movie Ever Made In Pakistan
loverfellow7 July 2011
There is no doubt that. It was almost perfect in everything. Its even one of the best movie I have ever seen. Only a few can be considered better than this (and, of course, all from Hollywood).

I bet this movie will do great business if they manage to release to a larger audience in India, middle east, UK and USA. This should at least be nominated for Oscars. I am proud for what Shoaib Mansoor has done for lifting Pakistan's name by his movies. He is a true legend. His work for media industry has been tremendous and luckily he was awarded for his work by Sitar-e-Imtiaz, even before he made his two movies.

No soul in Pakistan should deprive themselves for watching this movie in theater.

Shoaib Mansoor Shoaib Mansoor
i09099227 June 2011
The movie Bol is Shoaib Mansoor's second dramatic breakthrough of revealing life with its complexities. After 'Khuda Kay Liye', that went on to win several local as well as international awards, in Bol you can see Atif Aslam as Actor with Iman Ali, its another gripping story authored by him. A story that shows the realities of life very closely in typical shoaib mansoor's style.

The movie is as much emotional story as we can say Bol is a roller coaster of emotions, yet carries subtleties that make your heartbeat stop. Atif aslam is a good touch but seriously i don't like him and think acting is not his thing.

To watch or not to watch the film is not a question. You just have to watch it. Pakistan doesn't make films like this one everyday.

Warning: Spoilers
Shoaib Mansoor has done it again. Bol is a powerful, bold and solid film. It is an extremely well directed and well presented movie with solid acting performances by Humaima Malick, who has the lead role and also delivers most of the powerful dialogs of the movie. Manzar Sehbai (Hakeem Saab) was top class and also must mention Shafqat Cheema, the bad guy of our Punjabi films, was brilliant.

Bol is also the debut of singer Atif Aslam and VJ Mahira. Their acting was good and both have the potential to become good actors.

The soundtrack is awesome. Listening to Sajjad Ali's voice is a real treat.

Bol is a must watch for every Pakistani.

Convict & her actions make this movie epic!
MuviFan7324 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
There are only two movies that I have seen from Lollywood (cinema of Pakistan), 'Khuda kay liye' (For the sake of God) and 'Bol' (Talk. Let it out). The problems that movie highlight is gender bias (preference to male child), homophobia, child with third sex being a curse, corruption (in police department), double standards (some person is superior to other), etc as depicted in the movie affects all of us. All these problems are common in lower middle class in Pakistan while some or most of them are common in South Asia.

The question that the death row convict raises is 'If killing is crime, isn't giving birth so? When I see children who are beggars the question stands justified. It stands justified in movie as well where the convict says, 'Don't have kids if you cannot raise them properly'.

Tone, Script & Story: A woman who is about to be hanged decides to tell her story to media. The movie as it runs is engaging. The efforts of the convict to do things right make watching this movie a quality experience.

Direction, Screenplay, Cinematography: Everything in mentioned area stand justified. Shoaib Mansoor is worth mentioning. Music: Music is good. My favorite track is 'Dil pareshan hai'. Acting: Acting stands justified.

Final Verdict: It is worth watching. It needs to be in your collection.

|A good but anti Islamic movie
kargil989 July 2011
Again showman has been able to give a good film to its audience.but, i think if you are making a film on such a sensitive topic then that film should be an open ended,so people can decide what is right and what is wrong.other thing which i don't like about this film is that the film gives the impression to its audience that the persons who has a beard and who prays five times a day mostly are negative persons in society which is wrong.so overall i can say that Shoaib Mansoor has no knowledge of Islam and has produced another AntiIslamic film.yet he is a good director.Music of the film was not that good as compared to "Khuda k liyay" and the brilliance of "Shaan" was also missing, role of Atif Aslam was so disappointing.Humaima Malick has done well with shafqat cheema and Iman Ali.

Bol: But I prefer if you didn't
umer_uf25 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
It seems that I'm getting a lot of hate for my comment on how crappy Bol is. For those who haven't seen or don't plan on watching this movie; here's the plot in a nutshell: It's a story about a girl who wishes to tell the world her story before she is hanged for the murder of her father. The movie doesn't seem to know what issue it wants to highlight and provide a solution for. Although it's a love letter to family planning, it keeps on flip flopping between religious extremism, domestic violence, homosexual abuse, and prostitution among many, many other issues. Whoa there; one problem at a time, Shoaib Mansoor.

The movie takes place in an ultraorthodox Muslim family of Hakim Sahab, who keeps impregnating his wife in hopes of having a son. In fourteen tries his wife gives birth to seven daughters, one hermaphroditic son (who is bane of his existence), and has seven miscarriages. We are also introduced to the neighbors of Hakim Sahib, Master Sahib who dogmatically follows the "bachey do hi achey" model of family planning. After a few more miscarriages, the 'Joan of Ark' of our story: Zainab; decides to gets her mother sterilized. This is done so Hakim Sahib can't impregnate her anymore.

If I go on any further I'll make the same mistake the movie makes and that is to swim in a puddle of irrelevant details and in turn derail my train of thoughts. Basically when the hermaphrodite son gets raped, Hakim Sahib kills him. Consequentially he is forced to bribe the police with masjid donation and in his desperation to get the money back for the masjid meets with a pimp. The pimp offers him the money only if he is able to impregnate the pimp's daughter with a girl. The story reaches a climax when the pimp's daughter conceives a baby girl whom Hakim Sahib attempts to murder. In trying to save the baby's life, Zainab strikes her father on the head leading to his death.

Here is my problem with the movie. The acting in the movie was very shallow and one dimensional. The characters were very stereotypical, and extremely predictable. Hakim Sahib in particular comes off as very comical and silly even when he is trying to be serious. The music is dreadful and unnecessary. This movie is just an extended episode of a Pakistani drama in that it is boring and TOO DAMN LONG. Most importantly, it is unabashedly biased and essentially doesn't provide any real solutions. Bol is the second movie of Shoaib Mansoor that tries to paint all religious Muslims with the same brush and brand them as heartless villains. He puts forward music and dancing as the solutions to Pakistan's social conundrum and a blatant rejection of all Islamic values.

Extremist Mullahs seem to be a common theme in his movies; in 'Khuda key Liye' we saw the music-loving boy fall victim to some extremist mullah who spouts hate for the west and music. Mr. Mansoor even tries to justify that music is halal by saying that the Prophet Daud used to sing since he was blessed with a beautiful voice. Mansoor's blatant disregard of Quran and Hadith is very visible in both the movies. Ironically, he has embraced the 'Pick and Choose' method that the very same extremists he despises and maligns have made their methodology.

I came across a very interesting point as I was researching the movie and its director that may help explain his bias and motivation. It turns out that Mr. Mansoor was mentor to a very "beardly" famous Pakistani: Junaid Jamshaid. Jamshaid was once was a famous pop star, who had a change of heart and left the music industry abruptly deeming it unappealing andun-Islamic. Mr. Mansoor was personally wounded by this transformation and he allegedly said "I gave him sixteen years of my life as a true friend and played a role in his professional life to the best of my abilities. How could he throw away our sixteen years just like that without even consulting me?" This comment in the backdrop of his first movie 'Khuda Ke Liye'; which is homage to music; helped me understand his whole anti-mullah crusade. Mansoor somehow feels that it's his obligation now to prevent any more Junaid Jamshaid type transformations.

My biggest fear after seeing this movie was that it might discourage young Pakistanis from learning about Islam with an open mind. I spent a significant chunk of my life in Pakistan and I attended a Madrassa when I was there. I can truthfully say that I know exactly what goes on there, and I can tell you for a fact that a lot of what Mr. Mansoor portrays in his movies is grossly exaggerated. In fact, anyone who dares to learn about Islam in Pakistan is stigmatized and ridiculed at times as I can personally attest to. I was ostracized by the other children and often tauntingly called a Mullah, and whatever other derogatory term that is attached to children who attend madrasas.

Alternatively, if you really want to watch a thought provoking, emotionally moving Pakistani movie check out Ramchand Pakistani. It is a beautiful story of a poor Pakistani Hindu boy and his father accidentally imprisoned in an Indian jail, and accused of being Pakistani spies. The movie is grossly overlooked, and under-appreciated which is a shame. It makes great use of the silent yet somber beauty of the Pakistani desert landscape, traditional music and the main cast complements the tone and pathos of the movie perfectly. On the other hand, Shoaib Mansoor is simply digging for compliments and popularity by grossly exaggerating the reality, wherein Ramchand Pakistani shows a real side of the Pakistani minority and their struggles. It just works, people!. Bol makes a mockery of the term 'social commentary' and earns the director the label of sycophant from yours truly: the Cineophant.

A Must Watch Movie!
itsdebashree2 September 2011
'BOL' I would say is a must watch! The movie proceeds with an impressive narration and powerful storyline.

Humaima Malick is just awesome as the protagonist and also, all the other characters who are equally worth a mention! The issues that the movie tries to deliberately bring up, is definitely a bold step ahead given that the backdrop is set in Pakistan. And 'Hona tha pyar' is a wonderful song..I just keep humming it over and over again...

Not the usual kind of commercial spicy Bollywood flick, but some real good cinema!!

I would rate it as 9 out of 10! :)

South Asia's mirror
ashish168411 September 2011
This movie compelled me to write a review, it has a universal theme which has been shown sensibly. The characters may well have been from Uttar Pradesh (India) or for that matter any place in the world. The problem of gender bias, homophobia, conservatism, corruption, double standards, etc as depicted in the movie affects all of us. We keep quiet all the time.

Let us not make this movie an outcome of a specific religion's doctrines, the director has shown us a mirror, it is more of a cultural issue, accept it positively!

I gave it 9/10 for the cause of the movie and not for its technical expertise or craftsmanship. Finally, a director has brought all these issues out in the open. We should support him and his (in reality, its our) cause whole heartedly.

ShoMan is the best
allypk20002 September 2011
Whether anyone likes it or not,ShoMan is the best. Like i said earlier, for his movie "Khuda Ke Liye", this movie highlights our present society problems which seems to be true and genuine here in Pakistan. Trying to put reality, the storyline has been a great one. A real roller-coaster of emotions. He makes you think about different people and jolt in their faith just for mere few bucks. The true definition of cruelty of a very conservative father towards her daughters and wife is really cruel. I would advice everyone to watch this movie and put the writings on the wall of IMDb here. P.S. Please put the acting of Atif Aslam apart as he is not a good singer as well as a good actor. Also 10/10 points for rest of the cast especially Iman Ali as she has put her acting on a very high pulse. Well done.... Please Sho Man next time try to get Shaan in your movie as he get the grip of your scripts and acts his heart out. Don't know why his acting is not recognized in Pakistan, India for Khuda Ke Liye. My recommendations, ShoMan exploits the acting of Pakistani Industry as he knows where to hit the hammer. Shaan please quit Punjabi crazy ass movies and stop ruining your acting courier. Punjabi Movies are dead after the death of the greatest and Legend Mr. Sultan Rahi, He was the best there is and was and nobody can be like him.

Absolutely Fantastic!
chris-chasely15 December 2011
I have not enjoyed Pakistani movies in the past and was very skeptical about watching Bol, which turned out to be one of my favorite movies of all times! This movie had a story line that was unique and the acting by the female cast was fantastic. What a transformation for Pak movies from what I recall in that even a taboo subject is depicted so well. Other reviewers have found faults, albeit constructive, with the movie making aspect, but these minor things do not affect the movie at all. In fact, Bol has surpassed my expectations so much, that I give it a top rating of 10, more if that was possible and definitely more than any Bollywood movie, which I watch less often nowadays because not much has changed and the reality aspect is zero. Really, Bol should and must be entered for an Oscar and other festivals because it has a lot of potential. My congratulations to the producers, director and cast for a job well done.

Shoaib Mansoor has done a great job again by producing the movie "Bol"
Safdarm14 September 2011
Shoaib Mansoor has done a great job again by producing the movie "Bol". I found this movie much better then his previous production "Khada Kay Liye".

I will rate this movie with 4 starts and The Best Movie In Pakistan Film History.

This movie has very strong and sensitive story/plot. I don't want to give much detail about the movie, but will recommend that you don't see this movie with your elders such as parents. This movie has several sensitives issues and you may not get comfortable listing/watching those issue with your parents.

For those who enjoy Bollywood Masala movie, you may get disappointed as this move is more an ART movie then a commercial movie. Yeh, you will see Atif Aslam with his guitar and he has played his role very well, but this movie is not about music, dances or any other related glamor activity. This movie is to open eyes about common social issues.

In my opinion, this movie should go for an Oscar award and it deserve it.

The main character of this movie is Manzar Sehbai (Played Hakim Sahib/father) and he has done an awesome job. The movie's plot/story goes around him and he has done an excellent job showing the "true man" of the what so called "Indo Pak Society". You will find many of them around our society.

The other strong character of this movie is Shafqat Cheema. He has played his role very strong and very close to reality. I found Humaima Malick, Iman Ali and Mahira Khan have done a great job as well. After searching on the web, I noticed that one song showing Iman Ali was not part of the movie when I saw it in the theater. And I think movie is good without it.

Amr Kashmiri ….. I salute you for accepting such challenging role and doing a great job performing it. Not many will have courage to do what you have done to show the dark side of the society. Bravo!!!! .. Kudo!!! May Allah bless you …

You may or may not agree with the story of this movie. This movie has dark side of the society and not many people want to talk about these social issues. The movie is currently playing in following theaters in Chicago area and you may buy a DVD from Eros Entertainment.

Gem of a movie!!
bshljtbaruah8012 January 2014
Hats off to you Mr.Shoaib Mansoor for presenting us such a wonderful cinematic experience! After 'Khuda Ke Liye', this is yet another powerful evocation a sensitive social issue. The questions raised by the movie through the mouth of its lead character not only concerns a particular Pakistani or certain Muslim societies of South-east Asia but it pertains to average global society as a whole.Though the movie at some point seems to be 'overstreched' a bit (esp. in relation to its length) but it never diverges from its overall appeal even for a single instance. It maintains its rhythm throughout the length and that requires appreciation. Each of the actors has done full justification to their respective roles; however, Humaima Malik deserves special note of appreciation. All in all a NEVER TO MISS, MUST WATCH for everyone in hunt of some really good cinema.

Bol (speak)..... chor yar mat bol (plz don't)
cool_saham25 June 2011
I was excited to see this since the first time I heard about it, last year. Film promos that aired last month did however failed to excite me too much but skipping it was not an option especially after reasonably good "Khuda ke Liye". So I went in to see it last night and by the end of it I was relived..... because it finally ended. A few things that went against the movie... First off, I am not against preachy and depressing movies but I believe its criminal for the movie to not be entertaining and this was a complete bore, I mean documentaries are more entertaining. They should have made a bit more effort to keep the going ons interesting for the audience. Secondly, Shoaib Mansoor tried to take up too many issues and thus failing to do justice to any of them... there's issue of intersex boy then about having girls born then about having too many children then about life of prostitutes and finally a vague love angle. Thirdly the movie is too bold and mature and people can get really uncomfortable watching it with family, it was a big turn off. Only three people get a chance to act really in the horde of characters namely Omaima, the father and Shafqat Cheema the rest of the cast was forgettable. people are going to watch it, no matter how much negativity, out of sheer curiosity but do keep an energy drink with you or you may fall asleep somewhere in the middle. P.S: For all of the Atif fans, you may better watch one of his music videos in which his character may have more depth and screen time than he has in this film and well, he was awkward in the few scenes that he was in anyway so better his role was short. Posters are ridiculously misleading though.

social issues and Pakistani film industry
asifiqbaltmg4 July 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This is an awesome movie depicting the true picture of social issues in our homeland Pakistan. Here exists issues of stigmatizing the third gender also known as trans-gender. people are not willing to accept them. There are lots other issues like prostitution , abuse , STI etc and government isn't taking any action fro them, neither any NGO is working for. Another issue is misinterpreting Islam and using it their own way. in other words extremism.Another highlighted issues injustice in this country and non-serious attitude of the government. though its a good movie but work has been stopped. I cant see any good movie after it. the need is to revive Pakistani cinema on emergency basis. Pakistani film industry can play its role in curbing such issues from Pakistan.

Propaganda - Well written and executed but still propaganda
primedean-108-78476111 September 2011
Well acted, realistic, good production, decent songs. Not deserving of the praises mentioned by other reviewers and definitely not worth the rave revues its getting unless you wave nationalistic flags in your reviews.

The story is a condensed Pakistani soap opera, the likes of which are normally serialized over 24 45 minute episodes on local channels. The writers axe is well and truly ground highlighting their opinions on social issues advocating birth control time & again. Interesting to see the film getting UK and European Megaplex time (probably sanctioned by right wing groups fearful of these exploding populations Normally Lollywood films couldn't imagine getting the airplay time this film is getting.

The Lollywood industry seems to specialise in these conscience dramas, Policy making couldn't be more entertaining. Realistic acting and gritty if a little far fetched. Nice way to scare women and young boys from ever going to Pakistan. Sickly Funny for depravity in parts though i'm not sure that the director intended it. Not really cinema material probably better to wait for DVD release

Over hyped and Over Rated!!
UsmanSyed28 March 2012
Believe me guys this was one of the movies that i had been dying to watch. When I watched it,it turned out to be a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!!!.First of all the acting in this flick is somewhat between bad and average.Atif Aslam made a fool out of himself starring in this movie I mean the guy is a singer not a actor so don't star him in movies.Second this movie is really racist...it clearly points out that all "Pathans" are gay..which in my opinion is very racist.Third this movie is certainly not a family movie you cannot watch this movie with your little brother, sister or your parents. This movie is supposed to convey a serious message but some how it kept me laughing at every scene no matter how serious the scene is.The first one Khuda ke liye was a good movie although it also had some anti Islamic views the story was really good but this one just goes down the drain.....
