I only started watching this series because I was looking for a short anime series on Crunchyroll and this seemed to fit the bill. It soon became apparent that there would be little new to see here but lack of originality didn't prevent it from being reasonably entertaining. The story follows schoolboy Ryuji who's life is changed when is older cousin Eriko drags him out of school one day so he can help her retrieve a 'lost precious'. As they escape with the treasure in a large case its erstwhile owners chase after them guns blazing. In the confusion the case opens and we see that is contains a young girl who summons a fireball that gets rid of their pursuers. Strangely she seems to know Ryuji already even though he has no recollection of ever meeting her before. It turns out that she isn't human but a dragon who they name Rose and she is being sought by another dragon, named Onyx, who claims she is engaged to him. I assumed the entire series would involve conflict between Ryuji and Onyx but he was only in a handful of episodes; the others involve Ryuji, Rose and Eriko meeting other dragons, an obsessive dragon slayer and a girl who is also a wolf! These later adversaries aren't all that evil and more than one ends up joining Ryuji's gradually increasing harem.
The idea of a boy getting an ever increasing harem of attractive girls is hardly new to anime, neither is the idea that he will be fairly oblivious to their attentions; luckily harem aspects of the series aren't played up too much and it isn't overly sexual. The characters were fun enough even if they were a bit cliché. The action scenes were fairly good and one episode managed to be genuinely creepy. The show may be full of dragons but don't expect anything that looks like a conventional dragon; these dragons look human most of the time and only occasionally grow wings... at least for most of the time. I don't think I'll watch this again but it was worth watching once.
These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.
