Sex & Nudity

  • A lot of implied nudity of nurses/careworkers working with a severely disabled male patient. There is also crude dialogue regarding sexual function of the patient. Comments are often delivered by the patient, and never in a coercive or uninvited way.
  • There are glimpses of male pubic hair.
  • A female strips naked multiple times and you see full frontal nudity.
  • Another female is seen getting out of a bathtub with her boyfriend. Her breasts, vulva, and butt are seen.
  • Many scenes of sexual activity, including oral and vulva.
  • Many conversations of sexual intercourse, often times graphic.
  • The whole film is based on sexual activities.
  • Cheryl (Helen Hunt) enters a room and takes off her clothes. She is fully nude, showing breasts, buttocks and pubic hair as she joins Mark (John Hawkes) in bed. A similar scene involving both characters occurs later in the film.
  • A montage of Cheryl and Mark having sex occurs. Cheryl is fully nude, showing her bare buttocks and breasts. Her bare buttocks can also be seen when she enters the bathroom.
  • Cheryl drops a bathrobe, showing full rear nudity. She turns around to show her breasts and vulva. She enters a pool and her breasts can be seen. Her breasts are clearly seen from underwater when she is submerged.

  • In another scene, the electrical power goes out, causing a man's iron lung to stop working, so he has to be transported to the hospital.

  • The ending is depressing as it involves a character's death.
  • The whole movie is about a virginal disabled man hiring someone to have sex. The film is emotionally intense because the man falls in love with the person he hired.
