"If You Like This Movie, Then You Might Be a Redneck"
Kamurai2512 January 2021
Decent watch, probably won't watch again, and can't recommend.

It's not that the movie is bad in any one sense, it just is a bit lackluster. There seems to be a lesson about "if you're hot enough you can escape any situation you're in and find a better one" mixed with a "you should be ashamed of your past, but don't let it affect your future".

There just isn't anything interesting, and I think it's supposed to be a comedy, but it doesn't have a consistent atmosphere of humor. It certainly makes its way around the offensive and absurd humor attempts, but no of it really lands.

Just watch something else.

North Carolina's Chicken Friend PG 13 Napoleon Dynamite

Seems like the whole town turned out to make this movie. Best Supporting Character: "Lou". Lots of cussing for an otherwise down home hallmark style plot. Worth a watch, especially if you have "Redneck Roots".

Horrible

This movie was horrible.. I don't even live down South but I visit these enough to know that they aren't all stupid and on food stamps. If this movie would have been made about any other group of people it would be considered a hate crime

Something to watch for a quick laugh....

This movie has a few cringeworthy moments (As the acting isn't all that), and it's full of stereotypes. However, it's also really not meant to be taken all that seriously. The ridiculousness makes it comical (It also has heartfelt moments). So if you don't mind shotty acting, some cringe and aren't too easily offended (don't mind politically incorrect material). There's a chance *you might like* this. Lol

Side Note: The Grandma.💫 And the dog in the movie I liked the best. As I have the same breed. German Shorthaired Pointer.

Southern Fried Fun

A genuine and lighthearted movie! You don't have to be from the south to relate to Crystal Lynn's crazy family. Grandma Lee had me in tears from laughing. What I loved the most as a southern watching this movie was the details that really made it feel like my home town. The awful dresses at church, the hidden moonshine, the grandma's smoking Virginia slims, the BOJANGLES! Super cute and heartwarming movie! A sweet love story wrapped up in the terrifying experience of meeting your significant others family for the first time. The film makes lighthearted fun of the south and redneck traditions without looking down on them. LOVED IT

A woman goes home for a weekend and her boyfriend follows her and learns about her "redneck roots."

I was laughing so hard my checks hurt. I promise that you will recognize at least one of the characters in this movie as being like someone you know from home. There was so much that was familiar and warm about the movie. There are scenes where I was thinking, "Oh boy, I've been here before." It's also set in North Carolina and filmed in the Charlotte area and Stanley area. It's a pleasant treat to see places you know so well if you're from around there. It shows how pretty the city of Charlotte can be.

It has a great message about family and loving who you are and where you come from. I would recommend to anyone who loves a good laugh.
