Good Enough
PennyReviews7 June 2022
Korean Drama " Crazy Love " is a drama that has a predictable story and it almost feels like the old Korean rom coms of the past decade. The trop of the main lead dying, the crazy and rich CEO, the enemies to lovers plot twist, and the ex girlfriend storyline were all well known and used ingredients for many dramas. And yet, the drama had something fresh and comforting.

The first part of the drama is funny and the dynamics of the couple spot on. And yes, it is predictable, but their chemistry is overflowing. The performances were another factor that aided the drama a lot.

Unfortunately, the second part was slower and a bit boring, but the ending wrapped things up nicely.

So, overall, 6 out of 10.

Gotta make through the first half, then gets good
OldGuyUS19 July 2023
My wife and I bailed on this after 4 episodes. We just found the fact that the ML was a total jerk, and the FL was, perhaps for good reason, trying to torture out male lead. It just went on so long and got really tedious.

Since I actually bought Blue Rays (it didn't appear on streaming until after I bought the discs ha ha), we thought we'd give it another chance to try to get our money's worth.

The bottom line, is that it gets better in the second half, and lands a bit more in the romcom category. The is still some trauma coming from a side character, but it is not too bad.

The acting was generally good. We love Krystal Jung. She did a great job. Kim Jae-Wook was also good, although I can't put my finger on why I wasn't happier with this portrayal of the mail lead. We really like him a lot in Her Private Life.

So overall, an 8 for us. If the mutual harassment between the leads had not gone on so long, it would have been a 9.

Believable Enemies to Lovers
fake_moviestar31 May 2022
Enemies to Lovers fans rejoice! This drama is very well done and has a believable journey for our leads to go from enemies to very cute lovers. Acting was good across the board, and the soundtrack was fun if not necessarily memorable. The plot was dramatic but not too dramatic (within kdrama standards of course) and kept me interested throughout the entire show. I really loved the underlying message that one good person can make a big difference. Overall this was a cute one time watch that I enjoyed a lot.

Highly entertaining with lots of twists and turns and great humor. The lovestory is believable and sweet and the lead couple has great chemistry. The pace of the whole story is great, it never gets dull and offers lots of surprises. I really have enjoyed this show from start to finish and highly recommend it.

Perfect romance office story
zinemamoviemedia27 April 2022
The K-Drama genre that made me crazy about K-Drama when I was growing up (after not watching K-Drama for a long time) was office romance, namely "What's Wrong with Secretary Kim". Unfortunately, the series has one drawback. Likewise, the recent office romance "Business Proposal" has an unimpressive ending. "Crazy Love" which I initially took for granted, turned out to have a very interesting story with elements of comedy, politics, and romance mixed very well. None of the characters seem wasted. No matter how little they appear, all of them have an important role in supporting the characterization of the main character. The weakness that I found in "What's Wrong with Secretary Kim" is the disclosure of excessive plot twists in one episode also occurs here but "Crazy Love" handles it very well which makes me not bothered by it. And the ending is very good in resolving all the conflicts that occur throughout the story.

Suprisingly hillarious: Kim Jae Wook made it funnier than it was
poulomihari10 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The story is age old tale- a timid secretary and an overly ambitious, narcisstic boss. Very formulaic indeed. If not for Kim Jae Wook, this show would have been forgotten somewhere deep under the clichΓ©. This show's soul and heart was Kim Jae Wook and his brilliant comic timing. He has forver done these stoic, melodramatic, sad man that it was almost impossible to visualize in something like this. His character Noh Go Jin is someone you may have seen many times, (Boys over Flowers, Full House, Whats Wrong with Secretary Kim, My Name is Kim Sam Soon). The episodes are filled with typical Kdrama scenes where the girl is always slaving around or getting berated, scolded, bullied, then the male lead has a change of heart after seeing the poor girl's family. The female lead will almost always puke on the male lead at least in one episode. And despite all odds, the male lead and female lead will fall in love at the end. Yeah, same old story.

But the driving factor for this series was Kim Jae Wook's hillarious physical comedy. He is a gem. A very underrated actor indeed. If you can forget his previous sad brooding characters like the sad priest in The Guest, or the gentleman Ryan Gold in Her Private Life -although that one was filled with a few cliches too, you will have a laugh riot. Watching the bloopers was equally funny coz you see the actor is a pro in real life but is also equally jovial.

There are scenes where Jae Wook blurs the line between human world and cartoon/anime perfection. He is extremely aesthetic to look at, and so are his moves. If Jae Wook swoops away a box, it goes in style. If he eats a sandwich, he eats in style. If he throws it in the garbage, even the garbage-bin opens in style. I had never laughed so hard before the way I did watching this series. The series is aware that it's a K-drama, so it takes its sweet time to poke fun on every K-drama cliche that exists. The story is absurd, as in Waikiki level absurd. There are times when actors break the 4th wall and its almost like reading a funny webtoon where they are holding childish grudges.

(BTW, this show fulfils the fantasy of 'throwing the resignation letter on the boss's face', and adds even more voilence).

My favourite episode has to be episode 6 where the two go to Sin Ah's (Krystal Jung) country home and meet her dad. That episode is a genuine laugh riot. There were times I had to pause the show so I could catch a breath. Who knew Kim Jae Wook could be this funny? How he kept a straight face throughout all that will be a mystery. Whats funnier is that in the BTS we see that he delivers his lines within the first take, its the others who burst out laughing.... Supreme physical comedy.

Other than Kim Jae Wook, there is not much to the drama. Same old story, albeit with an additional pun at Kdrama clichΓ©s. You will enjoy it if you are an avid Kdrama fan. The subplots regarding the villains and ex-lover was such drag, I had to skip through. Infact it seemed like they created another villain so as to keep the popular 2nd lead in a good light. The plot ending was stupid and overall, unnecessary. The problem with the story was that there really was no conflict. And stories do not get engaging unless there's a conflict. I wish they went on with Oh Se Gi as the real villain but oh well...

Overall, enjoyed it solely for Kim Jae Wook's shenanigans. He kept the episodes enjoyable, right upto the very last episode. The laughter seldom subsided. I am going to see him in a very new light post this series. Great going Kim Jae Wook. First it was Coffee Prince, then Antique, then Marry Me Marry.. Then it was Voice, then he did The Guest, then Her Private Life, then Crazy Love... My man has a range! All sorts of characters in his arsenal.

BEST DRAMA
marieljenglis14 April 2022
This drama is the best, I love the enemies to lovers troupe so kuch and they are the only one korean drama tgat did it right, the build up and character development is well built. I love krystal jung acting so much, her character is refreshing, I have never seen a kdrama character like her, I've been into kdrama since 2009, and kim jaewook, is just so damn good, a legendary actor. This drama deserves the hype that business proposal get, the best drama halfway of 2022.

She Ain't Secretary Kim
elc200526 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It's another one that tried the WWWSK formula and couldn't match up. I'm sorry but Krystal's acting doesn't sit right with me. It was too obvious that I was watching a California girl do an impersonation of a kdrama actress. Her best scenes are when she not in "kdrama" mode and doing the funny revenge bits on Gojin. But when she had to portray that submissive, annoyingly shy, doe-eyed role, she was not good. Rather, it was not good for her.

Plotwise, it was very engaging actually but executed quite sloppily by the director and probably the editor. *spoiler* (Segi was too smart not to pick up on all the obvious signs of Gojins memory loss secret.) This could have been corrected with better shots. Like, the lines were delivered correctly, but Gojin would have a menacing lying smile the whole time. The show broke the 4th wall a lot so maybe that was just for us viewers but, to me, it just made Segi too dumb to take seriously.

Fatal flaw - ENTIRELY TOO MANY VILLAINS. The backstory was pretty layered and if this had better execution, it could have been a multi season drama.

Regarding the last episode... I thought it was mostly boring as a wrap up but the very last scene with him reminiscing about everything was perfect.

NICE Drama, Amazing story line!!
tnlachica16 May 2022
I don't usually leave comments but I think this drama deserves one. It's sad to know that it's underrated in Korea, and that's probably because it's not streamed on Netflix. I love the flow of the story, it's not like the other drama with expected scenario..I love how it shows us that no matter how cold-hearted a person is, we should know judge them by the surface, they might've gone through tough times and endured the pain until they become numb. It also tells us that it's never to late to change/improve ourselves. This is very realistic in the sense that it tells us about hate & forgiveness. You must watch this if you like comedy & slice of life combined. It's 10/10 for me.

Plays your expectations against you
asadbanana12 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I had zero expectations from this and just felt like indulging in some harmless clichΓ©s. Yet I ended up stumbling into one of my favourite kdramas of the year. I'm not sure if you'll feel the same way about it as a beginner to kdramas, webtoons, etc. But if you've been addicted to these shows for a good over a decade you'll enjoy this all the more. It was beautiful written and executed. It was made by people who clearly understood what viewers want and didn't get stuck in the trappings which usually tank interest in dramas like these. The characters feel human. You can actually understand why they do what they do and cheer when the leads get drawn to each other. The love is earned here, not written in as the only option *cough* Boys Over Flowers *cough*.

Sadistic but fun
RomanceNovelist13 August 2023
The first four episodes were absolutely brutal. In fact, I would call this story downright sadistic as far as how these people treated each other. The romance was handled very very well and I enjoyed the romance and the growing love very much. Initially, I wasn't sure if I was going to like the male lead, Mr. Gojin, because his personality was so ruthless and uncaring to others. But I knew that the story would likely make him a better person in the end and that there was going to be a lesson in this for him. But he was so callous I started to think he may just be unredeemable. Lee Sina, his long suffering secretary was no better. I wanted to root for her but I could not understand why she refused to leave despite his horrible treatment of her. But when she finally gets the nerve to stand up for herself is when she learned some bad news and figures out that she has nothing to lose anyway. So she sets off on getting revenge and boy is that revenge brutal. I couldn't believe that I actually started to feel bad for Mr Gojin. I started to look at Lee Sina in a way that she was not redeemable herself. She treated Mr Gojin horribly when he was at his weakest. To get revenge of someone when they are at their most vulnerable, to me, is an act of cowardice. But when he finally gives Lee Sina the truth and gets his own revenge on her I was floored by how sadistic he was. My sympathy went back and forth between them. His revenge on his secretary, was much funnier than her revenge on him. Both actors did a great job. For the first five episodes I could not root for either of them. But by episode 6 I was rooting for them and rooting for them as a couple. I enjoyed the romantic tension and the growing understanding for each other's situation. This was against my better judgment because they had been so horrible to each other and at one point they actually have a physical altercation in which they hit each other. It doesn't matter if they were hitting with pillows there was anger behind those blows a.d they were hitting each other hard. As the story progressed I started to feel very sympathetic towards Mr Gojin. A lot had happened to him that he simply did not deserve. What I found perplexing was how everyone managed to blame Mr Gojin for everything. I don't know if it's because he was a handsome ,wealthy, and successful genius, and they were just jealous but no matter what went wrong in their lives they blamed him for it. Even the main villains blamed Mr Gojin for mistakes that he did not make. It seems like everyone was blaming him for no reason at all for their own shortcomings their own bad behaviors and when the time came for consequences they blamed Mr Gojin for any consequences they had to face. The one lady who had a parent make a terrible accusation against her that resulted in her losing her job blamed Mr Gojin for what the parent did, when he had nothing to do with it. Even though she was aware that someone had made these stories up about her she still managed to blame him. So it felt to me after a while like he was being mistreated for things he was not doing and even set up and targeted constantly. The thing that bothered me at the end was forgiveness. I get that he was trying to be a better person but some of those people did not deserve to be forgiven especially after many of them broke the law in order to harm him.

A new combination
nrymcwjq2 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
For me this is a good idea to combine a romance and crime genre in a one drama series. The thing that i really love from this drama is Kim Jae Wook's role. He's very consistent on playing his role. His sitting gesture was the besttt!! I praised Gojin's role that evolve in every episode.

Unfortunately, there are some characters that i think it don't really matters and not quite understandable. For example those three girls that are against gojin. Also Ms. Na Sooyoung's revenge, based on a pretty bad reason. Well If she's expelled because of someone accused her for something that she didn't do it, then i think the person who should be blame is not Gojin haha. Correct me if i'm wrong, well this is a personal opinion.

From the script itself, at first i got so enthusiastic because every episode increase the curiosity about the culprit case. But until it hit episode 15, suddley they reveal all the culprit, i think it'd be better if it could extend to 17-18 episode, too much jumping i can conclude how their clothes change rapidly. I also quite disappointed on episode 15, Sina seems useless haha. I love how they try to tell each character's story, like Michelle Lee, Ma EunJung, but sadly, it all revealed in only one-two episode, which means it all forced to fit in one episode.

Despite of all things that i mention, i can conclude that this drama is highly recommended for those who wants something light, not complicated. Overall, because it highlights the romance more than the crime, it's very okay cause i also enjoy watching the romance scene.

I want more seasons
originalavaone-2807030 September 2023
I have seen this series about 20 times already. I want to see a season with the kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Although, the main actors Kim Jae-wook and Krystal Jung are my favorite, actors like Im Won-hee, Yoon San-ha and Park Han-sol has warmed my heart throughout the series. The writers, directors, and actors collectively created a fun, worthwhile, charming show that is very enjoyable. Let me not forget to mention Kim Hak-seon playing the dad and the guy that played his brother were just as charming as the previous characters mentioned earlier. I would purchase this series to have in my collection. I highly recommend watching this for all of the cheesy romantics.

❣ She Got the Chance ❣ To Live Like She Was Dying ❣ Β°7.8Β° Β°VG+Β° πŸ’―%πŸ”
50fiftillidideeBrain9 April 2024
Even if you aren't a country fan, the song, Live Like You Were Dying, contains universal human truths. The singer meets a stranger. It goes alittle something like this β–«β–«>

β–ͺ He said: I was in my early forties β–« w/ a lot of life before me β–« When a moment came that stopped me on a dime β–« I spent most of the next days β–« Looking at the x-rays β–« & talkin' 'bout sweet time β–ͺ I asked him: How's it hit you β–« When you get that kind of news? β–« Man, what'd you do?" β–ͺ & he said: I went skydiving β–« I went Rocky Mountain climbing β–« I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named Fumanchu ❣ & I loved deeper ❣ & I spoke sweeter ❣ & I gave forgiveness I'd been denying β–« I was finally the husband β–« That most of the time I wasn't β–« & I became a friend a friend would like to have β–« Well I, I finally read the Good Book, & I β–« Took a good, long, hard look β–« At what I'd do if I could do it all again... ❣ Someday I hope you get the chance ❣ To live like you were dying ❣

CL goes alittle like that as well. Our FL Shin-a, is in a similar situation.

β–ͺ How'd it hit Shin-a β–ͺ When she got that kind of news? β–ͺ Man, what'd she do? β–ͺ She went social climbing β–« She did some crazy driving β–« She hole-punched the h3!! Out his seven favorite suits β–« (& she said: I'm not dying this way...) β–« She chopped up his cacti & β–« Force-fed him fish fry β–« & pelted onions at his head to boot ❣ But it only led to: ❣ She loved deeper ❣ & she spoke sweeter ❣ & she gave forgiveness she'd been denying...❣

Lee Shin-a works for a horrible boss. Noh Go-Jin could be described as coldly cruel but he's actually highly intelligent & hopelessly left-brained. Feelings? Nonsense. It translates to his being intolerant of incompetence. But next to him, everybody is incompetent. His genius has no equal & it's gone straight to his ego. (He's such a heartbreakerrrr - trill those R's!) Shin-a failed her teacher audition at Noh's academy. Those who don't make the cut get the "honor" of being Chairman Noh's personal secretary. It's the company's way of getting them to quit. Nobody has made it more than 3 mos. She has endured 12 months. Shin-a needs this job. She'll endure b/c VP Oh Se-Gi gives her regular doses of positive re-endorphins. When she's at her lowest from Noh's worse, VP Oh always picks her back up. He's the best.

Ep1 sets up Shin-a's horrible situation. She gets particularly bad news from the doctor. Those headaches? That is a brain tumor. She's going to die. Yes, severe stress can open the gates for cancer to take hold. She's likely dying from stress. Noh, that rat-b@$+@rd, is killing her. Shin-a decides she ain't going out alone. Just like the (rightfully) disgruntled ex-employees of Noh, she will make sure he gets what he has coming. It's HAMMER TIME! Enacting her plan leads to a crazy chain of events, & Shin-a is in the right frame of mind to step off a cliff to see if she can fly.

"Try harder to remember. You MUST remember!" Bedside at the hospital, e'erbody thinks she's pleading out of love for him, but in reality, she desperately wants Noh to remember how she stood up to him before his accident. "No way I'm dying like this." She won't be able to die in peace unless he remembers that she clobbered him & then quit. Good old amnesia is an overdone Kdrama trope. They borrow from the excellent comedy, Overboard, & Shin-a claims they were secretly engaged prior to the accident. The interesting thing about amnesia is that when people forget all of their past bad choices & the previous offenses they've suffered, they forget to be miserable. They totally forget to be @$$h0!e$. Ignorance truly is bliss. Shin-a remembers it all, though. She decides the best thing to do, as she waits for the cancer to take her, is to take him through Hell. Vengeance is HERS.

Noh, in the meantime, hasn't thought of being mean. He may not remember his "fiance", but he certainly grows used to having Shin-a around. She's going behind his back setting up expensive company dinners (you all deserve beef! Make sure to use all your vacation time before the end of the year... & start leaving on time!). It's not easy being mean, at least it's not easy being mean to someone who is always nice. & Noh is always nice, anymore. She knows the doctor expects a full recovery. When this genius (IQ 190) finds out what she's done, what will happen? In addition, Noh may be new & improved now, but his enemies don't know that. His enemies don't care. & he's made a lot of enemies.

Several characters have to show personality shifts & hidden sides. This isn't a serious show, but the acting is still quite good. Krystal (Heirs7.3, Bride of Habaek7) is excellent at putting on some antics, esp in one scene that would flop w/ most actor/writer/director combos, but they make it work. I cringed in anticipation of pain when she started ranting, but I ended up grinning (&fairly relieved). They could have done alittle bit better w/ fleshing out her character, though. What is her passion? Why did she fail the audition? How smart & capable is she? How hard has she worked to get to where she is? Getting more personal w/ her would help the audience relate to her more. She remains a tad distant from us, emotionally. That is writing & directing - Krystal is great.

Kim Jae-Wook (Her Private Life8) is Noh. HPL was a big surprise for me. The premise sounds like a low IQ show, but it's actually wonderful fun. Now that I'm getting a 2nd look at Mr. Kim, it's obvious that he is quite talented. His comedic timing is excellent. He sells his character both as an insufferably toxic narcissist & as an innocent, confused amnesiac. He can dance! In ep8 he puts on a show! Ha-Joon plays VP Oh. He's completely different as a teacher in Black Dog8. Ko Kyu-Pil (Crash Landing on You9, The King's Affection8) is a PI. He's clearly having a great time, & he's funny.

CL is VG & it narrowly misses excellent marks. Given that this is a new director/Kim Jung-Hyun & writer/Kim Bo-Gyeom I am very excited to see what they do next. I think we have some winners here. Overall, the romance is VG, but it could have been even better. This probably goes back to the fact that we don't know Shin-a as well as we should. They share a great first kiss. He lies to himself about what he does to keep her by his side. She's oblivious to what's going on in his head, as she's been keeping her head down & just moving forward.

They run into some small logical stutters. Nothing too 'crazy'. Some of the drama in the later eps is a bit ham-handed, but again, it's not too 'crazy'. The show isn't intended for anything but fun escapism, & it shouldn't be over-analyzed. The good by far overshines the substandard. They end up providing enough plausibility for ?s that arise. The director is skillful in handling the part of Baek Soo-Young, Noh's ex. In the beginning of the show she seems impossibly beautiful. As the show goes on she looks less so. Her clothes don't fit her right & the makeup & camera work are less complimentary. Woody Allen did the same thing w/ Scarlett Johansen in Match Point. Is it stretching to think their names are an English language pun? His name sounds like "No-go Shin". It's close. She's definitely decided to "go" & the doctor told her, unfortunately, that soon she'll be go-ing, but he's there, & his name says "No-Go". 'No-Go-Shin'.

CL is plenty funny, She hates him. She really hates him. She hates him so much. So why is she sad? She turns on the TV to forget him, & there's his commercial: "Make your decision NOW." He's pointing thru the screen at her! While everyone around her assumes the opposite of what is true, the overhead camera will look down at her face from a side angle & her eyes will tilt up sideways as she's lying. She'll often comment like that to the camera directly. Then he starts doing it in later eps. It's skillfully played for laughs. By mid show I became a fan of the director. The little things add up to something bigger.

CL features a horrible boss b/c that isn't exactly a rare thing. A horrible boss is almost always a person caught up in h/h own power. It's an offshoot of pride. Psychology teaches that people who do get ahead tend to presume they deserve it, which leads to them assuming that those beneath them are truly Β°beneathΒ° them & deserve to be so. These things aren't mysterious. Everyone knows that power is corrupting, yet nobody ever sees their own corruption. Pride is the worst liar & we are blind to our own stuff. Practice kindness: It takes determined effort. Also featured is online gang mentality. Technology allows us each a voice & that is power. Virtual pitchforks are no different than horrible bosses. We should be slow to judge & be constructive when we criticize. CL's online lynching leads to a suicide attempt; a particular problem in Korea (highest rate in the developed world). We have too much of it in the USA, too. People will take that pain & go the other way as well, becoming abusers themselves. If you want to live w/ a free conscience, then practice kindness. It costs you πŸ…Ύ.

The wrap up is excellent. They tied & trimmed all the bows. "Life can be shorter than we think it should be. If you're sorry, say you're sorry. If you're thankful, say you're thankful. Try something again. You never know." At one point Shin-a's anger abates. She reflects on life & what is most important as she is preparing for her final exit. She decides to forgive & release her rage. She realizes that all humans are merely flawed humans. In the end, crazy love made her sane again. πŸ’˜, afterall, is the answer.

Scary, Fast Paced, Witty Office Drama
cageronimolaw24 March 2024
Romance, thrills, mystery, redemption, and forgiveness. Crazy Live brings it all to the table in a thoroughly witty, oft times scary, and uber exciting way.

The actors are flawless. The pace of the drama is sprightly, I found myself rewatching some of the best scenes.

I've been a fan of Kim JaeWook since I started watching K dramas. He's really the epitome of a cool, uber intelligent, very handsome guy. Here he plays a Math genius. His history is revealed thru the show. He is the lynchpin of this drama. His acting was phenomenal, superb, honest, real and quite sexy.

The rest of the cast were excellent. Each performance enhanced the main story. Krystal Jung and Ha Jun were great & so important to this show.

The story is so much more than an office romance or competition. Through adversity, the characters were able to flourish. Office intrigue, evil plots, villains, villians turned into partners, crazy times, a delightfully refreshing, exhilarating and complex dramady.

Also, to me a prerequisite of a truly romantic drama is resolution of the main protagonists' relationship. Crazy Love did just that.

In summary, please watch this drama. You will laugh, be enchanted, become cheerleaders and you may realize that in the end, it isn't money, fancy cars, clothes, homes, or status that brings fulfillment; it's the way you treat yourself and others. Be true, kind, forgive what you can forgive, throw off old biases and hurts, acknowledge your past deeds, seek forgiveness from others, and love yourself.
