One of the best movies of all time
critiquerimdb5 January 2014
Doraemon is a cartoon series that I've watching for years. I have seen many animation movies including most of the Doraemon movies, but no animation movie has ever touched me as deeply as this one did.

Even those who do not know Doraemon may watch the movie without feeling out of place. The story is excellent, the script is well-woven. The cinematography is excellent too. The music is emotion-evoking, the lyric of the three line-song are deep.

The movie shares a big message for both children and adults and may leave all age groups teary-eyed.

Overall, this is a masterpiece, the kind of movie I have not seen in years and may watch over and over again, infinite number of times. Released in 1986, this movie will live forever!

One of the best Doraemon film of all time.
SLEEPMAN200127 July 2020
Even it's a 'for kids' movie, this movie explores many dark elements that happened in our regular society. This movie also success to mix up between story drama about 'friendship' and sci-fi 'war'. You can't find anything like this in other movie even Doraemon other films itself.

Amazing movie
pokemonxyxyxy12 November 2019
It's a lot better than other doraemon movies. The visuals and the animation is in a different level than other doraemon movies. The plot is good and has the essence of some sadness after watching the movie. When I watched the 5 or 6 years ago and I loved it so much I wanted a second part so badly . After watching the movie I fell in love with Riruru. She is just so beautiful I can never forget her.

Some times crying is that not bad. Steel troops The new age is my first and favorite movie in Doraemon franchise. It is still a huge impact on me.

Musical, visual, emotional touches will give almost a heart breakdown.

I cried like a bitch for 2 days. Before watching this movie prepare some of tissues.

A masterpieceful making, impact, experience. I want a sequel in near future for this masterpiece.

A Whimsical Sci-Fi Adventure Soaring with Robotic Wonder and Doraemon's Endearing Magic
Mysterygeneration8 January 2024
In an installment of the Doraemon, "Doraemon: Nobita and the New Steel Troops-Winged Angels" combines science fiction, camaraderie, and the enduring charm of Doraemon's devices. Tsutomu Shibayama is the director of the movie, which follows Nobita and his buddies as they come across robotic angels with extraordinary powers. The story looks at bravery, commitment, and inventiveness. The iconic characters and futuristic setting are vividly brought to life through the inventive and brilliant animation. The movie offers a touching and enjoyable experience for viewers of all ages, perfectly capturing the essence of the manga and anime series.

Nobita and the New Steel Troops - a feast to the eyes and a strike to the emotions
duragon199721 June 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Doraemon the Movie: Nobita and the New Steel Troops - Angel Wings were indeed a marvelous remake of the original in 1986. Since 2006, Toho Company has started remaking the originals of Doraemon, turning them into more emotional, educational and more to be the feasts to the eyes.

The storyline of this version and the original are much alike, yet Nobita and the New Steel Troops is actually the most altered version comparing to the comics and its original film. The additions was mainly Pippo, who shares the same role as Lilulu to be the center of emotions in this version. This doubled the emotional scenes, thus making the film much more touchy. The cuddly appearance of Pippo, as I believed, shouldn't be something unnecessary, but rather very important to give the film its emphasis of sympathy and compassion to one another, and the meaning of sacrifice oneself for the right reason. The details about Lilulu and Pippo's communication, stars-like hearts and the seemingly developed love between Nobita and Pippo, Shizuka and Lilulu, made the film much more emotional and more educational to watch. I myself adored this film, though I'm not quite the age to watch stuffs like this. In fact, I have to admit that I was stunt watching this, not because it was worse than the 1986, but it indeed improved in many aspects. It was worth crying at the end, when Pippo and Lilulu were disappearing. It's a fact that this film are what you should watch at least once.

Tries to recapture the strong emotions of the original, but at the expense of its other good qualities
albertonykus9 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This is a remake of Nobita and the Steel Troops (1986), in which Nobita and his friends defend the Earth from an army of alien robots. From what I've seen, this is one of the most highly acclaimed Doraemon movies, especially among Doraemon fans who grew up with the current 2005 series, so what I'm about to say is probably going to be one of my most unpopular Doraemon movie opinions. I can see why this movie is so popular, because it tries very hard to recapture the strong emotions of the original. However, in my opinion this comes at the expense of many other elements that made the original movie so effective, and even raises additional questions that are unique to this adaptation.

The biggest change in this version is probably that one of the characters was completely overhauled. In the original movie, the protagonists commandeered a computer from the aliens and forcibly reprogrammed it to fight on their side. Indeed, the computer barely qualified as an actual character there, despite being seemingly sentient. Here, however, it becomes a full-fledged member of the cast that undergoes his own story arc.

It's a good idea on paper, but I had some problems with the execution. For one, during most of his screentime, the computer (which the main characters nickname "Pippo") is... very annoying. For another, in an attempt to make him more marketable-uh, I mean, to facilitate communication, the protagonists transform Pippo... into a talking chicken, without consent and by all appearances permanently, which comes across as being nearly as ethically dubious as the forced reprogramming in the original.

Furthermore, the expansion of Pippo's role comes at the cost of another character: Suneo's toy robot, Micros, who was granted sentience by Doraemon partway through the original story. Here, this never happens and Micros remains a regular toy. It wouldn't surprise me if some other viewers considered Micros to be annoying in the original; however, I thought he was a generally fun character who mostly didn't overstay his welcome and still offered genuine assistance to the heroes despite his foibles.

Additionally, the comic relief Micros provided felt necessary given the otherwise tense atmosphere in the original movie, much of which is lost in the remake. For example, in one scene where the main characters are looking for Riruru, the original showed them staying vigilant during their search and taking steps to avoid detection by the robot army. In the remake, they wander around calling for her with little apparent regard for the looming threat.

Finally, Pippo's presence removes the emotional contrast that originally followed the climax. In the original, the boys were overjoyed when the robot army they'd been fighting mysteriously disappeared, only to become somber when Shizuka returned and informed them of Riruru's sacrifice. Here, due to Pippo sharing a psychic link with Riruru, the boys are fully aware of what is happening. It's a relatively minor difference in the grand scheme of things, but one that I think substantially changes the emotional impact of the scene.

It may sound like I have many complaints about the remake, but I'd probably think more highly of it if there were no original version to compare it to. Knowing that a more compelling adaptation of the story exists, however, my personal enthusiasm for the remake probably rates no higher than five stars. That being said, I'm well aware that I'm kind of going against the grain here, so this might be a case where I'd suggest watching both versions and deciding which you prefer for yourself.

Stunning Artstyle and a breath of fresh air
rmpherwanihp6 December 2021
The best thing about this movie is the artstyle, easily. It was such a breath of fresh air for me when I first watched it. The light effects, the reflections, the giant robot, Doraemon, everything was stunning. The story was quite touching and the relationship of pippo and Nobita was fun watching! God bless this movie!

Not groundbreaking entertainment, but still very enjoyable
somariman13 January 2014
I was watching this film with a friend of mine. He was a really big fan of Doraemon when he was a youth in China, and he had spent the last few weeks introducing me to the series. I'm not a very big fan of anime, but the cartoons reminded me a lot of the cartoons I used to watch when I was younger, so I found myself enjoying them, on their own goofy level. I watched the movie on his suggestion.

The plot concerns Nobita and his friends attempting to stop an invasion of Earth by an alien robot army being spearheaded by a young woman and an electronic bowling ball they met earlier. I wouldn't say it's the most original concept, but it fits very well into the Doraemon universe, and it's well-written and well-directed enough to keep you invested.

The thing that struck me the most about this movie was it's somewhat darker, more emotional tone, compared to the TV show. Without giving away the plot, I can say that it is not quite the goofy joke-fest that the TV series was, although it still leaves you feeling good at the end.

The animation is quite good. It's not the best I've seen, but everything is quite nice to look at. The copy I was watching was Japanese with English subtitles, so I can't really comment on the quality of the voice acting, although I can't say anything seemed wrong with it.

Overall, I would say that I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It's not anything that I would call 'innovative', but that's not a bad thing. It's simple, but comforting, like chicken noodle soup. Anybody who has a little under two hours to spare and wants to enjoy something pleasant should seek this film out, especially if they are young children*, or fans of the Doraemon cartoons.

(For the record, this movie was a remake of a film from 1987. I haven't seen that version, but I've been told that the animation is of lower quality, and the story is a touch different(some say better).)

* Quick warning for parents: There is one point in the film where one of the female characters appears without any clothes on. She is rendered with Barbie Doll Anatomy, though, so there isn't really anything to shield your kid's eyes from. Keep in mind that this is not uncommon in Japanese animated works, even ones intended for children.

One of the best and emotional movie i have ever seen but the only saddest thing in this movie is the death of riruru pippo pls make a part 2 version of this movie in which we want riruru and pippo back.

Overall the story is good and very interesting to watch but there are some spoilers in this movie which should be eradicate ,this movie is very suitable for young generation which helps them to understand the importance of friendship but I think that this movie contain more emotional scenes than interesting Stories

We can't able to understand the final entry of riruru and pippo it should explained.

BEST MOVIE OF MY LIFE THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY CHILDHOOD MEMORABLE 💞
daveutsavud20 April 2023
I loved the movie best of all time don't read below it's not related to this movie I just wanted to complete 600 worlds

Earthquake in the world cup final price in the world and the partical of them and maximum number is there a lot to be careful and good luck for your tips appear.

That is not to say that the film is not worth your time or money. This is a romping, engaging, self-aware, fun and, at times, very funny addition to the format, with each actor bringing as close to their A-game as possible. Keeping you guessing for a satisfyingly sufficient amount of its two-hour run-time, you could do far worse than to do a little amateur sleuthing on a wet winter's day.
