Decent.

Pretty good. I will say I think it will keep the audience entertained. I'm happy there was drama in this movie because in my opinion without drama shows & movies can get dull-boring.

Teen Spirit Review

It's cliche and it's ABC Family, but it's not the worst thing I've ever seen when it comes to this kind of telefilm.

Not the Worst...

I'm almost surprised I'm bothering to write a comment 'cause, I don't think this was ever meant to be art, I suppose I just have a hard time getting beyond the fact that this was directed by Gil Junger, who also directed '10 Things I Hate About You,' which is one of my fave teen movies. There were some really good elements in here, so, I guess when that happens I don't understand why they didn't strive for better. The pluses are the two main girls. The minuses, the writing, the narrator, and the awkward portrayal of an angel, but, as you become more interested in the two main girls, the rest becomes more digestible. There is a reason for agism and it's because someone who is old enough to write for 'Growing Pains,' shouldn't still be writing teen movies. They're out of touch. I felt like this is a Disney slop job that was constructed by a development team of non-writers, most or all over 40, then the script was handed off to a couple guys in their 50s and given a short time frame to complete it. Basically, a writing for quick cash job. They rented 'Cant Buy Me Love' and 'Teen Angel,' for sure, and a bunch of other teen movies, watched them, copied them, then cranked out a script. All the plot points and some of the dialogue is ripped directly from other movies. And having this really weird narration in the first 5 minutes and then having at least 3 lines ripped from other teen movies in the first 10 minutes was pretty jarring and off putting, and made me consider turning it off.

Once the story focuses more on the two main girls, who play their parts very well, you begin to pay more attention to them and so the poor attempt at trying to write mean-girl remarks that seem savvy and of the times, but are not, are easier to ignore. I mean, I understand, I've seen fat, schluby guys in their 40s who look like they never had a teen social life be given writing jobs writing about what it's like to be a teenager. And boys clubs of men in their 50s giving each other work writing for kids, and they don't have kids, don't remember what it's like to be kids...but, it's out of touch execs giving work to even less out of touch writers. There are plenty of good adult writers who actually do like this kind of material and will do the research to make it sound convincing. If you're going to take up an hour-and-a-half of my time, I want to feel like my time has been respected and that your paycheck was earned rather than something you cranked off in a week in a coffee shop...if that.

ABC Family does have some really good programming...in fact, the only 3 shows I watched on here were all really good, so, I guess my expectations were a bit higher. As someone who's worked in kids programming for 10+ years, as most of my friends have, and love it, I never understand when there are craftsman who just drop the ball and do it for a paycheck. Especially when you have two great leads who were the only thing that saved this project. Imagine what it could have been like if there was more for them to work with and deliver. The fact that the girl who played the nerd was able to pull off getting choked up and emotional in the end, when the writers kind of left her hanging and to fend for herself, was fairly impressive. I actually got choked up, which I was like, "What? This movie is so cheeseball. How did that happen?" So, that is good acting if she could make me feel it, especially given the circumstances of the whole of the project. Don't get me wrong, there was some bad and mediocre acting in this project and the high school had a really bad matte screen, but some of the characters were worth watching.

typical time pass tween entertainer which is fun to watch but not that memorable.

TEEN SPIRIT – CATCH IT ( C+ )

Teen Spirit is small made for T.V movie with stereotypical characters with twist of a Spirit. The premises is good for made of T.V movie.

As it's an ABC Family movie, so as always they cast two of their actresses to play the lead roles. I have saw very few of Lindsay Shaw, she is decent actress but I think she is old to play teens. Cassie Scerbo is typical blonde girl with attitude. Chris Zylka is our typical jock boy. so, overall this movie is our typical time pass tween entertainer which is fun to watch but not that memorable.

Yikes

I felt like watching a high school comedy, but it's hard to even try enjoying this film.

Teen Spirit is like Mean Girls meets ghosts, which seems so ridiculous it could be something good. There is a lot of potential in the story. With the right writers it could be hilarious. Well, they failed. The whole film just makes you cringe. It has every bad cliché trope in the book and eventually everything deep feels fake. This is the kind of high school movie 8-year-olds like, but anyone else probably just feels annoyed.

I for one want to forget I ever saw this movie. Sure, there were few feel-good moments (that's why I'm giving this movie a 2 instead of 1), but apart from that 6 % of the film everything feels forced and just... horrible.

Not bad

I expected this movie to make no sense and be overly exaggerated but I actually quite enjoyed this movie! I would say this movie isn't exactly the most memorable but I did like the message it portrayed, which is that it doesn't hurt to have more confidence in yourself. Sometimes, all you have to do is pretend to be confident. I really like the one line in the movie that the popular girl said that no one is actually confident, and it's all pretend. I didn't expect that this movie would have this kind of message but it made it much better! The entire movie was kind of cliche and similar to most teen flicks, however.

Its pretty bad.

One time when I was in the 4th grade I was staying at home sick. I spend most of the day on Netflix. Somehow I ended up watching this movie. It sucks.

Characters - All the acting is terrible and unconvincing. The characters are very weak, simplistic, and shallow.

Plot - The idea of this movie is almost entertaining, but it is ruined by extremely poor execution. The only part of the movie that I like is the initial idea - a bitchy high school teen dies and has to learn a lesson and goes through a character arc. The depictions of heaven and hell in this movie are almost interesting. The The main problems with this movie is that its boring and everyone has incredibly basic and nonsensical motivations. Things just seem to happen and there are no stakes to the story.

Sights and Sounds - This movie just looks and sounds very cheap.

There isn't anything good about this movie. The only reason why I'm giving it this many stars is because I got a little bit entertainment when I was really sick and bored. This movie is so bad.

Weak...

Amber, a popular girl, dies electrocuted but her entry into heaven is not allowed. Unless, she helps an unpopular girl become Homecoming Queen within a week. But things don't go as planned... Amber Pollock is the queen bee of Eugene High School Ashley, the only thing missing from her reign is the title of Homecoming Queen. But her selfish and arrogant behavior literally comes back to haunt her when a strange accident ends her life, meanwhile her soul is fated to roam the earth so that she can fulfill the task she was given: to help Lisa Sommers, the least popular girl. From high school to being Homecoming Queen. This task that will decide her future between her soul going to the depths of Hell or Paradise.

Patricinha's films are all the same, this one has the supernatural to differentiate it, which doesn't help much...

Watchable, but very generic...

Well, you know exactly what to expect when you sit down to watch a movie such as the 2011 "Teen Spirit" from director Gil Junger. And the movie delivers exactly what you would expect, for better or worse.

While "Teen Spirit" definitely is watchable and pseudo-enjoyable, it suffered from being so generic that you could leave the movie for a prolonged period and come back to have missed out on nothing important to the storyline that you couldn't already think yourself to.

The acting in "Teen Spirit" was good, but again, keep in mind that the characters are generic. But this being a typical teen comedy, you know what you are getting from the actors and actresses involved in the project.

"Teen Spirit" didn't really manage to stand out and make itself memorable. In fact, it was a very bland movie experience, to be honest. Hence, my rating of five out of ten stars. While the movie is watchable when you sit through it, it is hardly a movie that you will remember after a day or two. Nor is it likely that it will be a movie that you will watch a second time around.

Of course I am not in the target audience of being a late teen, but still I watch movies like this, as I enjoy movies. So of course, there are movies that will be a swing and a miss for me. "Teen Spirit" was watchable for me, for sure, but it is not a movie that left any lasting impression on me. It came and went without making a mark.

Kinda a chick flick

So of course it's one of those movies where you can only watch it so many times before it gets old. But on a cold and ground night sitting in bed watching it is a good experience. I wouldn't say it's the best I've ever seen but sits definitely not the worst.

Absolute garage

What can I say other than this movie is terrible, supposed to be a TV-PG movie and they're telling their friend to sleep with a guy to get what they want, absolute trash, stay away if you're trying to raise your kids with an ounce of moral decency!!!

One of the best

So, people would like to maybe know a tween girl responding to this movie. Well I, loved it. Mainly because it was amazing and very entertaining. If you were thinking of your tween sister, daughter or whoever between the age of 10-14, would definitely love it. I do, and I've watched it a couple of times already.

I think the best part about it is when a mean girl comes good because it's hard to stop being the bully. It teaches the girls friendship and to forgive each other. It really is heartwarming and entertaining too. The comedy totally brings it together and it's OK to add a little fantasy or imagination to a movie. I'd say most of them would really love the movie and you might, too.

If you liked this movie and want to see some more fun, similar movies, you can try: MONTE CARLO,SORORITY WARS,RADIO REBEL,16 WISHES,BRATZ THE MOVIE.

Thanks for reading my review.Although, some people may have different taste or opinion and may not like it.Don't be shy and leave your opinion on the review section, too.

Degrading to women

I did not see this movie when it came out and I am glad. As a teen, I find it degrading to women and the portrayal of females to be unrealistic. . YUK!

Eh

Cliché but enjoyable. Teen Spirit has some good acting and an interesting plot but it's definitely not amazing. Lindsey Shaw is the best actress in the whole film as she deals with each scene thrown at her. The story would have great if they built on it more. Honestly, every time I watch this I forget it instantly. So it won't be worth remembering anyway. Overall, it's alright.

Silly teen movie with a recycled plot

Teen Spirit is a 2011 TV movie directed by 10 Things I Hate About You helm Gil Junger. It tells the story of a popular girl named Amber(Cassie Scenbro) who dies after getting electrocuted during her prom and is send to the aftermath where she must choose between heaven or hell. She of course helps a shy nerdy girl named Lisa(Lindsey Shaw) to become more popular and confident. Will Lisa become the new Amber?

A girl gets electrocuted and for go to heaven she needs to make the nerd girl of his school a Prom Queen

This movie deserves a 10 because is perfect ,the activations of Lindsay Shaw as Lisa Soomer was very funny , the attitude of the character Played by Cassie Scerbo and the act of Tim Gunn very clean In the music the song played by Lindsey Shaw TYPICAL is good and the others songs that reflect the music that the teens hear , what is a little bad is the character of Carlita and Nick because they are a little empty in their emotions and i wash that the movie could be more longer respect to time because the 82 minutes of the movie is not enough for narrate a good history witch very good characters .In Conclussion i love it so much.
