Bruce Springsteen: A Conversation with His Fans (2010)

This 30-minute featurette was a bonus feature on THE PROMISE: THE MAKING OF DARKNESS ON THE EDGE OF TOWN documentary. What it basically has is Springsteen taking part in a Sirius Radio contest where fans were allowed to gather in the studio with the singer-songwriter and ask him questions related to the Darkness on the Edge of Town/The Promise release. Some of the questions asked Springsteen include if he lost any sleep over songs he left off the original album, how close 'The Promised Land' came to be cut, if the infamous lawsuit ever made him want to get out of music, performing the album without a crowd and recording the outtakes thirty-years after he started them. Overall this is a pretty good featurette that fans should enjoy, although I do think there's one major problem, which I'll talk about in a bit. I thought the Q&A session was pretty fun and it's always interesting to see fans getting to sit down with someone they love and admire. For the most part the questions were good and I thought Springsteen was fun answering them. The one problem I had with the film is that there should have been more questions rather than them cutting away to the SONGS OF THE PROMISE concert featurette, which is also on the disc. I thought they cut away from the questions way too many times and including one moment where a complete song is pretty much played. Outside of that, Springsteen fans will still want to check this out just to see the artist answering questions.
