Netflix’s ties with Latin America and the region’s much-loved telenovela format go back to the company’s first steps in original production outside of the U.S., when the streamer picked, as its first international original, Gary “Gaz” Alazraki’s “Club of Crows,” a soccer-themed soapy drama about a dynastic sports ownership family.
Since then, there have been several further incursions into the world of the novela, including some of the streamer’s most popular ever series such as “Who Killed Sara,” currently filming its third and final season, and “Café con Aroma de Mujer,” “Rebelde” and “The Queen of Flow,” the top three non-English language series on Netflix globally at the time of this article’s publishing, sure to be joined by the second season of “Dark Desire” when it launches on Feb. 2.

Natalie Morales got to celebrate her birthday by slapping a telenovela villain around, but she never made it to the big ending kiss. Morales visited the set of Telemundo's 'Los Herederos Del Monte' for a segment on this morning's 'Today' (weekdays, 7Am on NBC) and got involved in the action, filming a fight scene and getting to see what it's like to be an actor on a telenovela, a limited-run series.
Morales and 'Herederos' lead Margarita hammed it up for the camera in a shot of Margarita complaining to the director about Morales. Then the two got into some face-slapping and hair-pulling, ending when Morales tossed Margarita into a pile of straw and dramatically proclaimed, "That's how it's done!" The director stopped shooting just as Morales was leaning in for the big kiss with the leading man.

This year the magazine goes back in time to depict four iconic decades: the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. The exclusive photographs were shot by celebrity photographer Omar Cruz on location in a total of six major cities: New York, Miami, Orlando, Los Angeles, Mexico City and London.
Helping to commemorate the issue are two special honorees; Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias, who was featured in the magazine's first ever Bellos issue; and Sofia Vergara, who has appeared on this list an incredible six times. In a recent interview for the issue, Iglesias opened up about his fears: "I've always been afraid of not being happy, of loosing the motivation to keep fighting.
