Abby Trott has been a big name in the anime industry for quite some time now, and her work as Nezuko, Momo, and Magik has already made her a fan favorite, and I got to see that her personality is just as fun. My colleague @tushar-auddy and I recently interviewed Trott, asking her about everything from Dandadan and Demon Slayer to Nier: Automata Ver 1.1a.

The experience was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and learning the ins and outs of voice acting certainly was a plus point. While we both agreed that Momo was an exceptional protagonist, there was more to her character than what classified her as a typical Shonen hero. Trott has played some of the most diverse characters, yet it was Momo who she had the most fun voicing.

To mark the 15th anniversary of the NieR series, Square Enix recently published a special interview with Producer Yosuke Saito and Creative Director Yoko Taro on April 28, 2025, reflecting on their journey with the beloved franchise.

During the conversation, when asked about the source of inspiration for the series, Yoko Taro revealed that Neon Genesis Evangelion has been a major influence not only on NieR:Automata but on nearly everything he has created.

“Definitely Evangelion. But then, everything I make is influenced by Evangelion.”

This is not the first time Yoko Taro has openly credited Evangelion as a major source of inspiration.

In a 2024 interview with IGN Japan, Taro admitted that NieR:Automata‘s story was so heavily inspired by Evangelion that he considers it pretty much just a retelling of the anime.

Sad stories in anime and manga aren't uncommon by any means. The anime and gaming industries have a long and deeply intertwined history. Nier: Automata Ver 1.1a is an excellent anime adaptation of the Nier: Automata video game. It's a series that tackles the themes of identity and purpose, setting Nier: Automata's characters in a bleak world where the word 'hope' is nearly all but forgotten. A2 is one of the first YorHA units produced by YorHA Command. More than just a key character for plot reasons though, her arc runs paralel with Nier's story as a whole, as her fight to find out who she is and why she exists are basically the main questions the series attempts to ask.

The ever-popular Attack on Titan anime series has received all-new high heels inspired by characters Levi Ackerman and Hange Zoe, with high-end boutique Mayla releasing the shoes internationally.

Via its official site, popular Japanese shoemaker Mayla has partnered again with the Attack on Titan anime series for two new pairs of high-heel pumps. The "Attack on Titan Iconique Shoes 'Scout Regiment New Model'" comes in two versions for characters Levi and Hange, both retailing for around $200. NieR:Automata is one of the most popular Square Enix games to date. So to see NieR:Automata Ver1.1a go on two hiatuses, then to end the first season with the four remaining episodes was both sad and enlightening to hear. The anime first aired in Japan back in January. It is now August, and the first season ended on July 23. But there has been confirmation for a second season, so hopefully, the wait won't be as long as the first season.

We will be going over the events of the first season's finale. And boy, NieR fans will recall how heartbreaking the ending of the game was. Having to relive it again was just as painful but reminiscent.
