Ajay Devgn’s Score Card Of Box Office Clashes. (Photo Credit – Instagram/IMDb)
Ajay Devgn might be coronated as the King of clashes. The actor, who has been enjoying good word of mouth with his latest release, Shaitaan, is gearing up for a huge clash with Akshay Kumar on Eid with his film Maidaan, where he will take on Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. While the battle seems to be very interesting, this will not be the first time Ajay will lock horns with another superstar.
Recently, he opened up about the clash and mentioned that he wishes for both films to do well. In fact, last year, Gadar 2 and Omg 2’s clash proved that two good films can survive. In fact, Ajay’s clashing history also proves the same.
In the last 15 years, the actor has faced a lot of clashes, and the results have been surprising. While he definitely leads the scorecard,...

There’s something ethereal about Weston Razooli’s Toronto Midnight Madness closer, Riddle of Fire. It’s whimsical, but in a rough-hewn sort of way that puts it somewhere in the aesthetic neighborhood of Avalon Fast’s 2022 Slamdance discovery, Honeycomb. Both films exist in a world parallel to ours, but not unfamiliar or unrecognizable. While Honeycomb chooses a darker direction when compared to Riddle of Fire’s Little Rascals-esque childish escapades, they both occupy a world in which adults exist, but more as impediments to adventure instead of figures of authority. Razooli’s film exudes joy from every delicate 16mm frame, making it the perfect gateway for those weirdo young children looking for representation in a world of high gloss influencers and YouTube celebs. Right from the jump, Riddle of...

There was no escaping “Red Rooms” at Fantasia.
Awarded the Cheval Noir Award for best feature at the 27th edition of the fest, Pascal Plante’s film also took honors for screenplay and Dominique Plante’s haunting score, as well as an outstanding performance award for Juliette Gariépy.
“The ultimate effect a film can achieve is to implant a significant and lasting emotional memory. ‘Red Rooms’ masterfully accomplished that goal,” said jurors David Hewlett, Brenda Lieberman, Jourdain Searles, Virginie Sélavy and Gary Sherman.
“With incredible skill and artistry, without resorting to gore or violence, this film delivers not only an extremely disturbing and frightening experience but introduces you to characters and situations you may never forget.”
Produced by Nemesis Films, it takes on the trial of a man accused of murdering teenage girls and selling videos of his crimes online. But Plante wanted to focus on women who follow him.

"The Sopranos" cast are all New Jersey icons now, but only one of them was before the series premiered. That was Steven Van Zandt, aka "Little Steven," of the E Street Band. Van Zandt is one of the band's guitarists, alongside Patti Scialfa, Nils Lofgren, and of course the Boss himself Bruce Springsteen. During their hiatus in the '90s, Van Zandt found a new gig on TV even though he had never acted before.
In 1997, Van Zandt gave a speech introducing The Rascals before they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. "The Sopranos" creator David Chase saw this routine and contacted Van Zandt about appearing on his show. Van Zandt had previously conceived of the character Silvio Dante, a former hitman turned club owner. So, they added the character to Tony Soprano's crew. Thanks to budget concerns, the luxurious '50s-style establishment that Van...

Running for 178 episodes over seven years, "Star Trek: The Next Generation" deservedly picked up plenty of awards on its ongoing mission, and it's not difficult to pick out episodes that truly stood out as exemplary. There were some absolute stinkers, too like the lazy budget-saving clip show "Shades of Gray," and "Code of Honor" and "Up the Long Ladder," which form a double-bill of offensive cultural insensitivity.
However, there are those stories that often get overlooked, brushed under the space carpet in favor of award-winning episodes — stories that still hold up today but didn't make a particular impact on release. This article is a celebration of the "Next Generation" stories that flew under the radar yet are more than worthy of a rewatch.

Former child star Jane Withers died on Saturday evening in Burbank, California, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 95.
The Atlanta native began a career in show business as a young child thanks to her mother’s determination to have one child in show business. Even her name was picked specifically so that “even with a long last name like Withers, it would fit on a marquee,” according to a statement from her daughter Kendall Errair.
“My mother was such a special lady, Errair said. “She lit up a room with her laughter, but she especially radiated joy and thankfulness when talking about the career she so loved and how lucky she was.”
No official cause of death has been revealed.
By the time Withers was 2, she was enrolled in tap dancing classes and learning to sing. Her career officially kicked off a year later after winning a local contest called Dixie’s Dainty Dewdrop,...

The head-turning moment on Leon Thomas’ debut Ep Genesis comes during “Blessing Interlude.” The drummer tees up a loping, unfussy beat, and the guitarist adds an inquisitive phrase, a lick that hangs and bends in mid-air. Thomas sings prettily, trying to coax a prospective partner into returning his interest; a thin coating of backing vocals, just enough, slides through the background; the whole thing ends in less than two minutes — far too soon.

The actor will also star in the film in the role of the lead protagonist along with Ali Fazal as his son and Amyra Dastur as Ali’s love interest. Deva Katta, who was also the director of the original movie will be directing this film as well. It seems that with the release of Ajay Devgn's Drishyam nearing, Milan Luthria has started off with the casting of the actor's next film in full swing. Lisa Haydon of Queen and The Shaukeens fame will now play the other heroine in the film. While Shruti has been paired opposite Ajay Devgn for the first time, Lisa and Ajay had a few scenes together when she did a cameo in the Kangna Ranaut, Sanjay Dutt starrer Rascals. It is being said that the reason behind roping in Lisa, was to add certain amount of tadka in the film and her bohemian and sexy image impressed the filmmaker. Giving out duds at Box-office is not harmful but what is really demeaning is being part of unworthy, embarrassing movies. Though we are not making any perception about the caliber and potential of an actor like Ajay Devgn, there are few flicks which the superstar would also want disown like us or he might always regret of. While we take a look at the disasters he readily (and repeatedly) did, we also hope Ajay steers clear of it in future.

Released on September 18th, we're a little bit behind the eight ball on "The End Of Watch" soundtrack. However, thanks to LoudWire, we've come across an additional extra musical tidbit which is arguably more interesting than the original release. While the soundtrack disc itself features an original score composed by David Sardy ("Zombieland," "21"), a classic track from Public Enemy ("Harder Than You Think") and cuts by the Latin Rascals and The Delfonics, the iTunes release features an extra original new song from Queens of The Stone Age Frontman Josh Homme. Titled, "Nobody To Love" and also featuring Sardy, the cut is apparently heard in the film's final credits (and you can listen to it below) and was released in low-key form on iTunes only. As you likely already know, "End Of Watch" was directed by David Ayer and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Pena, Anna...

That Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn are thick buddies is known to one and all. Ajay starred in Sanjay's home production Rascals while Sanjay too has been seen in Ajay's home productions like All The Best and the forthcoming Son Of Sardaar. Now taking this friendship ahead, Sanjay Dutt has acquired the remake rights of Telugu super-hit Badri and plans to make a Hindi remake of the film with Ajay Devgn in the lead. Sanju apparently feels Ajay would be apt for the role which was originally essayed by Pawan Kalyan. And even though the film will be made under Sanjay Dutt Productions, Sanju Baba will be giving Ajay a free hand in deciding the cast, director etc. Moreover, Sanju Baba has also said that he would like to have Ajay in all the films made under his banner. Looks like Dutt wants to make amends for the fiasco called Rascals.

Hollywood can't be taken for granted anymore. Ajay Devgn realised it hard way with his Tezz being challenged by The Avengers over the week gone by. Irony of the situation is that his next release Bol Bachchan has an even mightier competition, what with The Amazing Spider-Man releasing alongside.

Seems like the flip-flop around Kangna's role in movies has become a trend. Kangna Ranaut and Ajay Devgn were good friends until things went horribly wrong between them during the shoot of 'Rascals'. While there are speculations galore about what happened between the two stars, the result is that Kangna was deliberatly kept out of 'Rascals' promotions. It seems the bad blood between them continued even during the filming of their upcoming movie 'Tezz'.

If industry trade statistics are to be believed, for every single good film that is made, there are 10 other bad ones that release week after week. For anyone familiar with the Razzies concept of Hollywood, the ‘Ghanta Awards’ (‘ghanta’ being the slang for ‘rubbish’) is its desi version to celebrate and recognize the worst that Bollywood offers in terms of films, actors, technicians among some other categories.
In its second year, the awards function was held over the weekend to a packed house. Those who could not attend had the option of watching its online live stream (something that none of the bigger awards have been able to achieve yet). While invites were sent out to all the nominees, Sonam Kapoor was the lone celeb attendee, went sportingly on the stage to collect her award confessing “Thank you so much! I finally won an award!”.

Barring Tanu Weds Manu, which also stays on to be the biggest success ever for Kangana Ranaut and Double Dhamaal which was basically an all boys show, 2011 was pretty much a forgettable year for her. Whether it was the biggie Game or a film which (as per own confession) was done for monetary reasons, none of them did wonders at the box office. Rascals was the final nail in the coffin and the controversies that emerged out of it were ugly enough to force her into oblivion. "Th...

He may have gone all violent, gory and brutal in Agneepath as the antagonist. However Sanjay Dutt is now all set to get into the other side of law with his next biggie - Department. For audience too it would be a new Dutt in motion as he hasn't played cop for ages. Since his comedies like Rascals, Chatur Singh Two Star and No Problem hardly enticed them enough, they are gearing up to see what Dutt has to offer now while donning a 'khakhi'. Says an insider, "Everyone is...

Our leading ladies and item girls will be nowhere near half as attractive without the talented singers that voice their musical numbers. What’s more, while our cinematic experiences with our on-screen goddesses have a time limit, our playback goddesses are always with us in iPods, tablets, computers, radios and more. This year Bollyspice salutes the 10 female playback singers who astounded us with their vocals throughout the year.

Ms, Bhasin (of ‘Viva!’ and ‘Kuch Khaas’ (Fashion) fame) epitomised the image of a Punjabi rock chick and commanded a nation to rock and roll with her in ‘Dhunki’ (Mere Brother Ki Dulhan). While Katrina Kaif may/may not have done justice to her vocalisations, Neha sure did make a place for herself in our hearts and on this list.

2011, was a year of many highs and several lows for the Indian film industry. There was drama, catfights, box office clashes, chartbusting songs, 100 crore+ blockbusters, scandal, women centric films actually doing well, hook ups and break ups amongst other things.
To break away from the clichéd countdowns that appear at the end of each year, we at Bollyspice decided to compile a list of the Top 10 entertainers of 2011. The list isn’t just a countdown of movies, it’s a list of people, rumours, music, wannabe stars and starlets that made news and made us chuckle – both intentionally and unintentionally! Read on…

Ajay Devgn had a varied year in 2011. He went from big success with Hindi comedy Yamla Pagla Deewana, to even bigger success with action juggernaut Singham, to a ridiculous looking flop comedy in Rascals. It looks like his 2012 will start off with a bang, though, with the first trailer from his new film, Tezz, out today. As usual with Indian films, the plot is under wraps, though if you speak Hindi, you'll probably be able to glean some of it from the trailer. It appears that Devgn and his wife, played by Kangna Ranaut, are forcibly separated and Devgn is determined to get her back by whatever means necessary. Presumably there are some shenanigans, otherwise the planting of a bomb on a speeding commuter...

Unfortunately, despite the amount of good films out in 2011, there were some disastrous duds that landed in the cinemas that were absolute dreck and deserved tomatoes heaped at them. We had lots of Kangna being chased around by old men, Chichi being a libidinous 40 year old virgin, and the ubiquitous Ram Gopal Verma swinging the camera lens all through Mahie Gill. Though to be quite honest, there were more wasted potential in some half-good movies than the usual awful comedies offered every Friday. So here’s a look at all that was rubbish and built up our anger this year.
The Dreadful Debutante Award – Nargis Fakhri
As she pursed her injected lips together, the audience lets out collective groan as the unfortunate dubbing artiste voices for her ‘Bugger Off!’ in one of the most anticipated films came one of the most awaited debuts from this gorgeous gal from New York.

Since the day Dharma Productions’ unveiled the first look of their 2012 remake of yesteryear hit Agneepath, one thing was for sure – that the film will be devoid of Dharma Productions’ trademark extravagant song sequences. That is, stars lavishly dressed in Manish Malhotras dancing to Farah Khan’s directions with 1,000,000 extras in the background to a familiar tune claiming to be new.
Accordingly, audiences and critics alike had no hopes or expectations of a typical Dharma Productions soundtrack from Agneepath, a presumption that was affirmed when Ajay and Atul Gogvale of Singham fame were announced as the music directors of the film rather than the likes of Shankar-Eshaan-Loy and Vishal-Shekar. On the outset Agneepath’s soundtrack is made up of 6 tracks, no remixes, and features the vocal talents of Sunidhi Chauhan , Shreya Ghosal, Roop Kumar Rathod (Tujh Mein Rab Dikta Hai – Rab Ne Bana De Jodi), Sonu Nigam , Sukwinder Singh,...

Mumbai, Nov 24: Kangana Ranaut has been on a roll this year with a long line-up of releases like 'Tanu Weds Manu', 'Game', 'Double Dhamaal' and 'Rascals'. And the 24-year-old says 2012 will also be a landmark year for her.
'In 2011, a very important film of mine like 'Tanu Weds Manu' came and even 'Double Dhamaal' did well. Even those films which didn't do too well, my work was appreciated in them. So, it could be a landmark year for me,' said Kangana at the launch of an eye wear here.
'And now the kind of films I have signed...I have already signed big franchises like 'Ishqiya', 'Krrish', and 'Tanu Weds Manu'...so.

Mumbai, Oct 17: In this entertainment industry of bestial self-interest you would think a demoniacal debacle like 'Rascals' would put an end to the 'dosti' (friendship) between its producer Sanjay Dutt and director David Dhawan, more so since the film was Dutt's first home-production.
To our surprise we got to know that the film's staggering slump at the box-office had not dampened but rather strengthened the Dutt-Dhawan dosti.
Earlier this week, after the verdict on 'Rascals' was clear, David, who was feeling guilty and out of sorts about letting his pal down, received a surprise call from.

Oh dear. Where to begin with the film, Rascals. Sometimes the level that our writers go to recreate a hit can be baffling. Ok, so we have the amazingly talented Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt as the Rascals in question. And yes you are expected to leave your brain at home but this is nowhere near what you would expect from them or director David Dhawan. This is one of those films that regardless of what or whom you see on screen, your brain and possibly your whole being will object. Expecting a comprehensive story would be naive but it isn’t too much to ask for some funny and innovative proceedings, is it? Apparently so.
So if you are prepared to take the plunge after seeing the trailer, there really isn’t much more to it. Bhagat Bhosle [Ajay Devgn] and Chetan Chohan [Sanjay Dutt] are your typical con men that incidentally pull one of the same guy,...

Tyrannosaur (18)
(Paddy Considine, 2010, UK) Peter Mullan, Olivia Colman, Eddie Marsan. 92 mins
Bad things happen to damaged people (and dogs) in this sparse kitchen-sink drama – almost too many bad things for one film to take, between Mullan's volatile drinker, Colman's abused wife and their vicious social circles. There's a redeeming spiritual dimension to the misery, thank God, and as you'd expect of an actor-turned-director, Considine gets incredible performances from his leads.
Midnight In Paris (12A)
(Woody Allen, 2011, Us) Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Kathy Bates. 94 mins
Not finding modern-day Paris to his romantic liking, Allen sends Wilson's tourist back to the fantasy 1920s version, and recruits familiar faces to play familiar cultural legends: (Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Gertrude Stein, etc). It's so unapologetically wistful, he gets away with it. The French will love it.
Johnny English Reborn (PG)
(Oliver Parker, 2011, Us/Fra/UK) Rowan Atkinson, Rosamund Pike, Gillian Anderson. 101 mins
