Highest octane action and brilliant acting, but a lot of nonsense

My overall rating of "Bron/Broen"'s Season 1: 5/10

Saga Norén is a character that I am absolutely in love with, and many episodes tend to have a minor dialogue scene that she absolutely nails. In the previous episode, it's the dialogue with Martin in the car, where she confusedly smiles once he starts laughing after her sex admission. It's absolutely palpable how she's unsure why he's reacting that way, and tries to maintain what she sees as friendly, open and relaxed demeanour. In this episode it's the conversation with the investors: once she makes a statement about them shirking their social responsibility, as if it was matter of fact and commonly understood, she's surprised at the confused indignation of 3 and laughter of one, and turns to her boss, clearly a father figure, as if for help in trying to understand that strange reaction. Later in the episode she insistently follows him throughout the building even as he tries to wave her off, pressing on and on about whether she made right call in the episode's climax, hoping to hear some particular words but not really listening to his affirmations. These small elements make her character so awesome and living, implausible as such degree of autism might be in a woman.

Oh, and I guess this episode has probably the most action-y bit in the series as Saga and Martin confront ST in a rather brutal and generally well-done sequence.

This episode isn't without its completely bizarre moments, however, from the widow's walk to the car suddenly turning silent (and her completely unexplained/bizarre relationship with/rage at her stepdaughter) to the hilarious and obvious, incredibly poorly edited final segment of the "sword sharpness test" which was so bad it felt like a B-movie for a second.

(I've watched this series in original languages with English subtitles)
