I enjoyed the episode but I feel like it's the same thing every week with a little hook at the end to pull over to the next one, Loki and mobius must go and find a particular thing or person to fix something in the TVA so they can go and fix something else. The formula is losing its touch a bit.

Kang was quite good, Loki's relationship with Mobius is the reason I'm still watching it's infectious, not a fan of Silvie, she is just becoming an annoying character and I'm like ugh every time she's on screen. Her high and mighty BS is getting too much, use her well or not at all, fine episode 7/10.

Stunning mind provoking entertaining madness
namob-4367320 October 2023
This show is amazing and although it is mostly the fabulous acting which saves and enhance the show, the storyline is equally fantastic. This show does what Marvel has been trying to do, but mostly failing at - to describe and sell multiple time lines and alternative universes.

The storyline and the acting together make this show exceptional and Marvel finally has something to build their new universe and ideas around. I hope they succeed, but even if not this is still a very good watch and I highly recommend.

9/10 and close to perfection. There are still a few hiccups, but if they can stick the landing of the show this belongs among the very best.

"Howdy!"
Trey_Trebuchet26 October 2023
I'm not sure I agree with everybody on this one.

I think all of the stuff with Victor Timely was fine. The weird tension between Renslayer and Mrs. Minutes dragged it a little bit. But I think it'll be really interesting to see what becomes of these two, especially given how this episode ended.

Loki and Mobius are a ton of fun on screen together and the best part of this season so far for me. I find it interesting that Loki is just okay with working with the TVA right. Yet he's still a mischievous person. Very curious to see how his arc ends this season.

Jonathan Majors (I almost hate to admit) is really good in this. He showed quite a bit more range here. We also kind of get an origin story for Kang in this, which is cool and doesn't at all feel forced.

Acting, production and pacing are all pretty solid. Can't wait for more.

Also, not enjoying this as a total Disney geek here, I genuinely think it's good show and I'm enjoying it for what it is.

Batshit Crazy...In the Best Ways Possible
firebug_leather20 October 2023
Absolutely incredible. Easily my favorite episode so far. Jonathon Majors delivers an incredible performance as Victor Timley, Miss Minutes goes absolutely wild (in a phenomenal way), the direction is great, the cinematography is beautiful, and the story is awesome. Some personal favorite scenes were Mobious and Loki seamlessly transition between isn't Chicago 1868 and 1893, Slyvies conversation with Timely at the end of the episode, and Miss Minutes - let's just say being a little freaky with Timely. Such a crazy and unexpected episode that worked in every way. The music was incredible as usual, I particularly loved the opening credits music. Also the ending of the episode has me wanting to create a Time Machine and teleport to the future so I can watch episode 4 already. So good.

Where to begin. This show has finally established itself as the epic, mind-bending thrill that it has always strived to be.

I am continually impressed by how each episode of this season soars into ambitious new heights without ditching the playful, tender heart of its central characters.

The score, production design, cinematography...this episode in particular intricately weaves every detail to immerse its audience in a world of pure fun and mayhem. And, it admittedly does better at maintaining a digestible plot for those like my mother who, unlike the previous two episodes, did not have to rewind any scenes out of confusion!

Courtesy to Jonathan Majors for an outstanding re-introduction to his place in the series. And courtesy to Natalie Holt for....being the mystical god that is Natalie Holt.

So excited to see the rest of a very promising season!

Victor Timely!!!
sosmanone22 October 2023
1893 introduced the origin story of Victor Timely with an unexpected plot twist which is crafted very carefully and perfectly that I truly start to love Victor Timely's character and begin to feel bad for him. Yeah that's how strong the plot is, because it shows how much difference a man can make when he's given a second chance and you'll start to realize that Loki was be right about him all along. It also captures major character development for Sylvie as she's force to make a hard choice. And an emotional cliffhanger that connects me to story with a beautiful score. All of this is now rare in the MCU and it somehow reminds me of Phase 4. Best episode of this season so far.

Finally an Interesting Episode
MamadNobari9720 October 2023
Though I am still not sure how we're already halfway through the season and the plot development has been slow and isn't clear what direction it is moving toward, but this episode is definitely the best of the season so far and the most engaging one.

We finally get to see Kang for the first time this season and this variant requires a bit of decent acting which Jonathan Majors delivered really well.

I'm not sure Mobius acts like Renslayer hasn't done anything wrong or as if she's not the biggest most famous criminal all of TVA must be after, and just chit-chats with her like it's nothing and has no desire to take her in whatsoever. They literally prune anybody in their timeline if they go off their designated path. A guy could go for a glass of water instead of milk one day in his kitchen and the TVA simps rush off to his world to make him disappear so the precious timeline would be safe. But they don't care that Renslayer who caused all this chaos and doomed all those people is running around scott-free? It just seems weird to me.

But probably the highlight of this episode apart from Victor Timely, is Miss Minutes. I didn't expect her to be like that in this episode and she's become the most intriguing thing this season so far, because I still don't know what the story is leading to. So the only thing so far that's interesting is to see what Miss Minutes is up to.

And although the pacing of this episode isn't as chaotic and fast-moving as the first episode, it is still way better-paced than the second episode and far more interesting and a lot happens in this episode.

So far this was the best episode of this very short season, and a lot has been set up just like the previous episodes. But so far, it is still unclear what the end goal of this season and the story is, and I hope they don't sacrifice a well-developed plot throughout the season for some cheap twist and reveal and exposition instead of letting the story naturally develop, which seems to be the case here so far.

1893
Prismark1020 October 2023
An episode of two halves. It opens with a fine ragtime version of the Marvel fanfare.

Loki and Mobius arrive at the World's Fair in Chicago in 1893 and meet a variant of Kang. He is Victor Timely posing as an inventor and scamming potential investors with futuristic gadgets.

All because back in 1868, Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) jumped back to find Miss Minutes in Chicago. A contingency plan was formed by Kang in case he died. They would give a young Victor Timely a handbook on how to create and run the TVA. He just does not realise the full impact of the handbook yet.

All this makes Loki and Mobius's job difficult to bring Victor Timely to the TVA in order to fix things. Even more so when Sylvie arrives to destroy all of Kang's variants.

Finally the third episode is getting in to the real story for the second season. Jonathan Majors gets something major to do as Timely.

Then it becomes an episode where Miss Minutes and Ravonna Renslayer fight for Timely's affections. It weakened the story and lacked impact.

Best episode this season I don't care !
tristan_1920 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Following Victor, a Kang Variant, felt really significant. The fact Ravonna and Miss Minutes set Victor on that path from a very young age was insane. Miss Minutes turns out to be absolutely psychotic and frightening, what the absolute heck.

Sylvie has excellent character development here, as Loki and Mobius manage to get Victor back to the TVA. But we got some seeds of the fact he might be evil or have a darker side at least when he left Ravonna behind. The shades are so interesting here, as there is nothing black or white. Just grey. Everyone has lost it.

Who knows what'll happen next ? And that ending, that cliffhanger, was effin evil, are you serious ?

Marvelous, marvelous !

Warning: Spoilers
Third episode of Marvel's most awaited show, Loki Season 2 is premereired and here's my thoughts on this episode i.e. "1893"

Positives :-

1. Character arc of Victor Timley is great.

2. The plan and concept of He Who Remains, that Victor Timely will become next TVA leader is good.

3. Jonathan Majors performance is amazing.

Negatives :-

1. The colors theme look a bit washed out.

2. This episode feels long and you get bored.

3. Writing and screenplay lacks alot.

4. Humor doesn't work most of the time and feels cringy.

Final Thoughts and Review :-

Overall, "1893" is a episode that just did the job of connecting storyline, but in my opinion this episode is just OK. Moreover, I can even say that it is the worst episode in entire Loki series.

The Episode So Far
terrence-4690621 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is the best episode so far this season. I was a fan of the first season, but have really enjoyed the second season so far. Johnathan Majors acting is phenomenal in this and amazes me with his range every time he's on screen. I found his awkwardness and stuttering to be very believable, especially in the final ac, where he actually convinces the viewers "Well, maybe he won't be that bad". As far as negatives, I do feel like Mobius is becoming more and more like Owen Wilson and his isms each episode, instead of how he was early in season one. I really enjoyed watching Major's performance in this one and hope he will be more heavily involved with this season. This is a much watch!

Underwhelming
SHU_Movies20 October 2023
Although it's a solid episode, it might be my least favourite in the entire series so far. It continues the story very nicely and definitely isn't a bad episode by any means, but it's just not that good (if that makes any sense).

I'm trying to say that I've not really got many issues with it (except for a few historical inaccuracies), but it's not a great episode. It was very fun and intriguing, however, to see the plot progress, and to see what came of Ravonna's Season 1 ending, which has gone unexplained up until this point.

I'm very excited to see what comes next, and don't take my below-average rating as me not really enjoying this season so far!

The writers have probably run out of ideas
mirmurati29 October 2023
If you have a story to tell, I'd assume that you would want to get to the point fairly quikly.

This episode however is completly devoid of any actual plot. It introduces us to some exposition, telling more than it shows, but that could've been explained in a few minutes. Instead, we get 40 minutes of chasing. Loki and his companion, Mobius search for one person, then they search for that person, then they chase a little more and that's basicall all that happens.

Little of the previous conflicts were resolved, the plot ended where it began. Instead of actually following some linear progression, the writers just introduce one random problem after the other. The plot is approaching some real end, but it never reaches it.

To be honest, i can't even remember what it was that they were trying to solve in the first place. The end of the first season suggested that someone else took over the TVA. Then Loki switched timelines within the TVA (for some reason, they never said why), then they needed to restart their time-power-generator. I don't think the writers themselves knew where to go with this.

What is this mess? Well, i'm not going to figure out. This show has made it clear that it does not value my time and doesn't expect me to remember anything for more than 20 minutes.

One of the best.
mdrijwan-2048826 October 2023
Cinematic, story and character all good.

First I thought it will be usually a TVA set and character fighting but no , this time it looks amazing and 19th century set were looking too good. A very quality episode, complete mind game but I miss the power of Loki and his instinct, they are more into developing the character of Kong in here but in reality this is a Loki season but yeah it's good nothing to complain about.

We always wanted to know what led to create so many timelines and who was responsible for it and this episode really help to know what was the exact plan, can't wait for next episode.

much better
rich-1216920 October 2023
So good it begs the question..Was Episode 2 an accident?

Such a good episode. Reminded me a lot of the early season of "Legends of Tomorrow".

So i dont understand how a cartoon clock is in the episode. I thought it was a hologram in the TVA. How is it just able to go anywhere?

Also more importantly. Did the ONE who remains create the multiverse..only to destroy it? I dont understand why he would build the loom which must have created the multiverse in the first place. But then he created the TVE to prune the unwanted timelines? Finally the story of this guy has become interesting...Only took what. 5 years. A few movies and a couple season of shows?

Muhahahhaha, BOO!🤣
passamazonassessments20 October 2023
It keeps getting better. It's like a comedy movie😂

I have never laughed this much before in any marvel episode or movie. It's funnier than any Thor movie, Guardians of the Galaxy or any quirky thing Toni Stark has ever said.

Finally Victor Timely shows up and the performance is just fantastic, he's definitely going to win awards as he overshadowed Mobius and Loki's roles. A phenomenal actor with personal legal problems. It's his time as an actor, he will be remembered as one of the best actors of all time. (Pun intended)

The only thing I don't like is this pleading Loki vs Sylvie back and forth, emotional dribble. Just prune Sylvie already.

Ms Minute's voiceovers are great and Renslayer having some sister moment for the hardworking females went on too long. It wasn't even inconspicuous as to what the writer's intent was.

I can't wait for the Kang Dynasty.

Victor timely!
chowdrysofia7 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode showed us our first introduction of Victor timely AKA kang. Jonathon majors did amazing job at acting as he shows us here that he can play a victim as well as a villain. At the start we feel scared of him but throughout the episode we start to feel sympathetic for him as we realise he is just a normal person at this point being dragged into this. This episode takes place outside the TVA for the majority which was different. Sylvie came around every now and then however I felt like she was just there and wasn't really bringing much to the plot. In this episode we really start to question who is the villain as we see miss minutes abandon Revona and kang befriend miss minutes and slyvie spare kangs life. I feel like Loki wasn't the focus of this episode as he didn't really feel like the main character and I feel like he trusted Victor way to quickly after everything he went through with kang and how much he scares him so that was slightly confusing. However like always this episode was funny, enjoyable and tense with some confusion.

1893
lassegalsgaard3 November 2023
It was widely known that Jonathan Majors was going to have a substantial role in this season of "Loki," after his guest appearance in the first season's finale. However, in light of recent allegations, a lot of doubt had been planted about Majors' future in the MCU and the business as a whole. His scene-stealing performance in "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" only showed that he is the perfect actor to play this role, yet him continuing in the role is not without its detractors. However, looking purely at the work, he is great in this role and makes his entré in a fun episode.

His introduction as Victor Timely had previously been teased in a post-credits scene in "Quantumania," yet the full extend of that role was not known. He makes a very splashy debut here, portraying another totally different variant of this character, this time in the form of a bumbling buffoon with a lot of ideas. However, his portrayal is equally as good as before, and he manages to bring such compassion into a character whom we know is destined to give life to one of the most evil beings in the multiverse. This episode really is the Majors showcase that we didn't need during this time, because he is quite literally perfect in this role. However, the rest of the episode is also quite good and a step up from last week's episode. The writing was much more effective, probably because it was mostly spent on setting up Timely as a character, but also because it gets the story rolling in a new way. I'm really excited to see where this show is going and to see if it is as unexpected as it was during the last season. This show is also proving to be one of the most interesting things Marvel has done recently in terms of its technical achievements as it features some of the best cinematography that I've seen in a while for Marvel, and some truly great directing that goes into the character work and the performances as well. This was a very good episode that brings us back on track.

"1893" gets us back on track and finally introduces us to another He Who Remains variant, once again played brilliantly and hilariously by Jonathan Majors. The writing is way better this time around and the direction continues to be impressive, as well as the show's visual style which feels like something Marvel has never done.

Style great, content unnecessary
sbuhrman-7479823 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I've enjoyed the majority of Loki and it's pace up until this point. There's very little time wasted , I would say, up until these last few episodes. The stakes, though claimed to be VERY high, seem very low. I'm kind of bored of people constantly telling me what might happen if "we don't fix this now".

This episode, specifically, had our characters chasing each other, only to get lost, spit out some very vague information, and chase each other again. Whatever is going to happen SHOULD really happen already or I'm going to tune out and read some notes about it later. Loki and Sylvi fighting while the bad guy gets away is so below their intelligence and wit. These characters are kind of being wasted.

Love the costuming for the time period. Anyway, let's see what the next one brings.

Pretty Disappointing, Too Long, and Kinda Pointless
theredheadhopper20 October 2023
Wow Marvel... why would you do this. 2 REALLY great episodes that were a strong start to season 2, and then we get whatever this is. This might actually be the weakest episode in the series.

The Bad: Without getting into spoilers, this episode is pointlessly long. The 56 minutes of content could've been squeezed into 20 minutes and it spends WAY too much time on Victor Timely, a variant of He Who Remains. This episode drags on and on, and half of the episode is pointless stuff that either could have been cut out entirely or fit into the cold open before the intro. Sylvie is also unbearable in this episode, which really sucks as she was the highlight of season 1. Another MAJOR criticism I have is Miss Minutes, who, for whatever reason, is extremely cringe in this episode. It also has little to no Loki and Mobius and instead focuses on the time period and Victor, Ravonna, and Miss Minutes.

The Somewhat Good: It does get VERY suspenseful and the brief periods of action and conflict are just as entertaining as the previous episodes. The conflict is pretty similar to what we have seen already, so once again, it ties back to my criticism of the episode being unneeded. I will say it did an EXCELLENT job of establishing a ton of questions about both Miss Minutes and Renslayer, so props to that.

Loses steam, but overall enjoyable
SureCommaNot20 October 2023
The music and set pieces continue to be the best thing about the show, and this episode got especially creative with variations on the Loki theme. Listen for its appearances, both subtle and overt.

We notably stepped up the tension and smooth balance of action and storytelling, at the beginning of the episode at least, which gave me hope for the future of the season, though honestly the second and third act weren't as well-handled. I'm not one who enjoys watching awkward, stiff conversation, and the show-runners seem to be doing it intentionally (possibly because it's an approach other popular shows have taken).

Another thing the episode excelled at: giving a deeper glimpse into the psyche, emotions, and motivations of Miss Minutes, while still leaving room for much more to explore with her. And her animation quality is award-winning (or at least it should be).

Great sets and music, but nothing happening
cglamb-15 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Loved that this was set during the Chicago World's Fair, but this show did absolutely nothing with that awesome set up. All we get in Season 2 is characters walk-and-talking or running down narrow alleyways or corridors, over and over again. Majors is playing to the cheap seats-the theatre guy clearly came in with various Characters with a capital C and is playing mannerisms more than characters, both here and in Ant Man. I don't know if that's what the showrunners wanted or if they just couldn't stop him (as we've now heard about how mean and controlling he is, even if we're only talking about on set behavior). Still, his performance would've been fine if there was an actual coherent plot.

You know it's bad when the writers resort to "female characters fight over a man" nonsense in the middle of what are supposedly apocalyptic stakes. Clearly even the writers didn't believe in their story.

There are TWO gods of mischief in this show and not a smidgen of mischief, just a lot of brow-furrowing and threats to do Bad Things that they then don't do. I am perplexed by what the showrunners thought they were doing. The actors deserved better (well, most of them).

Fair setup point
sevskirita17 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Although this episode doesn't have the strongest thematic throughline, it does some good setup with making Miss Minutes a terrifying force and establishing some dynamics around Victor. That being said, it's the brief thematic exploration that is provided with Sylvie's presence and conflict is very good. It's splendid to see her come to terms with the truth of what He Who Remains said and lose some of her revenge focus upon being faced with Victor Timely begging for his own agency, as she once did.

So overall, it's a good episode but not super great. It does what it needs to and has some great high notes, so 7/10.

What the heck happened?
junipershubby24 October 2023
Can anyone explain why the dialogue suddenly became insipid and the acting so amateurish in this episode? It's painful to watch Majors trying to create this character. What is it they say? If it isn't on the page, it isn't on the stage? I thought this must be some kind of joke and was hoping for a clever ending to this episode, but of course, no. What the heck was that? I hope a subsequent episode might explain the necessity of this one. One positive was the lighting design, so applaud the gaffer and cinematographer, though there's plenty of unnecessary camera movement. I'm wondering if it's worth spending any more time with this series, or have the writers just lost their way?
