Honestly, I was skeptical when I first found this film on YouTube, seeing as it was a little-known indie short film from a group of people that I had never heard of. However, the film instantly grabbed my attention with its witty dialogue, intense psychological terror, and unforeseeable twists.
First of all, the production value of this film was way beyond the quality normally seen in independently produced short films; the filming, editing, special effects, music, etc. were superb to say the least. The writing too was impressive. For a moment I even thought that this film was a documentary, the writing was that good.
Admittedly though, some of the acting was sub-par at best. Specifically I am referring to the performance of Perrish Goggins, who portrayed "Brian." Goggins was definitely the weak point of the film, as his constant overacting and overall "cheesy" performance was very noticeable, especially when contrasted to the amazing production value and supreme performances by other actors.
The high point of the film however, was clearly the impressive performance of Eddie Lawson, who portrayed "Christopher." Lawson's performance as a young Asian man (presumably Chinese) was extremely convincing. His performance is so believable that I was honestly blown away when I discovered that Eddie Lawson was not, in fact, Asian at all, but actually a full-blooded American. Bravo Eddie Lawson, bravo.
Overall, this film is an excellent "diamond in the rough," and, despite the unconvincing performance by Perrish Goggins, I would highly recommend this film, giving it a 9 out of 10.
