If you turn on classic-rock radio anywhere in America and listen for more than a few minutes, you’re likely to hear a Foreigner song. “Cold as Ice,” “Hot Blooded,” “Feels Like the First Time,” “Waiting for a Girl Like You,” “Urgent,” and “I Want to Know What Love Is” topped the charts in the Seventies and Eighties, and really never went away. But rock critics never understood their appeal. “I like rock and roll so much that I catch myself getting off on ‘Hot Blooded,’ a typical piece of...

Lou Gramm, the original singer of Foreigner, currently has concert dates scheduled through November, but he has confirmed that this will be his last year of touring.
The 73-year-old singer is the voice on such timeless Foreigner classics as “Feels Like the First Time, “Cold as Ice,” “Hot Blooded” and “I Want to Know What Love Is.” He left Foreigner in 2003, returning as a guest during live shows in 2017 and 2018.
Gramm, who has battled a myriad of health issues, has continued to perform as a solo act, and will be joining Bret Michaels on the Poison singer’s “Parti Gras 2.0 Tour” this summer. He is also slated to play a number of his own Lou Gramm All Stars shows, currently scheduled through November 9th in Tulare, California. Tickets to several of his upcoming gigs are available here.

Founding Foreigner guitarist Mick Jones has revealed that he has been battling Parkinson’s disease for the past several years. The legendary rocker disclosed his health status in an open letter to fans.
Jones is the lone original member still left in Foreigner, who are among the nominees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year. In recent years, he’s rarely performed with the band, and has now disclosed that it’s his struggle with Parkinson’s disease that has kept him off the stage.
On Foreigner’s social media pages, Jones wrote the following:
“Fans will have become very aware that for some time now, I have not been performing onstage with the band. Several years ago, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. I want everyone to know that I am doing alright. However, I’ve always liked to be at my best when performing onstage,...

Allegations of a massive, multiyear pattern of box office fraud rocked the Korean film industry last week. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s anti-corruption office said 69 executives from the country’s largest theater chains — Cgv, Lotte Cinema and Megabox — and 24 distributors, including Showbox, were referred to prosecutors on Thursday. The police said the theaters colluded with distributors to exaggerate ticket sales for at least 323 films over the past five years, delivering false information to the Korean Film Council, the government-run body responsible for collecting local box office data.
But some Korean film business insiders say the practices the police uncovered were an “open secret” in the industry for years, and oftentimes not nearly as nefarious as they might appear.
Much of the resentment that’s currently building in the Korean film industry, meanwhile, is being directed at the major multiplex companies, which are owned by Korea’s largest conglomerates and have unrivaled market power.

Police in Korea on Tuesday raided three major multiplex chains and the offices of three film distributors on suspicion of box office manipulation, according to multiple local media reports. News agency Yonhap, citing officials from the Seoul Metropolitan Police, said the six entities are alleged to have obstructed the business of the Korean Film Council (Kofic) by falsely counting audience numbers for some local films.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Anti-Corruption and Public Crimes Investigation Division said it is conducting the operations at a cinema from each of the Cgv, Megabox and Lotte Cinema chains, Zapzee reports. Per Sbs News, police sent investigators to the cinemas to secure data such as ticketing details related to the alleged manipulation. The distribution companies, Sbs News said, are Showbox, Lotte Entertainment and Kidari Studio.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the first three episodes of Tell Me Lies, “Lightning Strikes,” “Hot-Blooded,” and “We Don’t Touch, We Collide.”] Tell Me Lies, over its first three episodes, introduces Lucy (Grace Van Patten) and her tumultuous relationship with Stephen (Jackson White), the friends she meets with at college (and stays in touch with), and a tragic event that kicks off her freshman year. The premiere, after flashes of Lucy and Stephen’s relationship that suggest its rocky nature before we even see the beginnings, begins in June 2015, with her going to her friend Bree’s (Catherine Missal) engagement party. Lucy insists she’s fine with Stephen attending, and Pippa (Sonia Mena) remarks, “I really hope you can avoid going down the whole Stephen rabbit hole today.” Lucy insists she can handle seeing him, but from what we see of ...

The release of “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” and “Ambulance” gave Hollywood a rare one-two-three at the South Korean box office over the weekend. But neither newcomer managed to earn 1 million in another deeply depressed session.
“Sonic 2” earned 843,000 over the weekend and 979,000 over its opening five days, according to data from Kobis, the theatrical tracking service operated by the Korean Film Council (Kofic).
“Ambulance” earned 450,000 between Friday and Sunday and a total of 674,000 over its five days since release on Wednesday. That was good enough for third place.
Between the two newcomers, previous chart-topper “Morbius” took second place with a weekend score of 537,000. That was a 68 tumble from its opening weekend. After 12 days in Korean theaters “Morbius” has a cumulative total of 3.40 million.
The Korean government is expected to soon relax many of the anti-covid restrictions that it currently has in place and move to treat the disease as endemic.

Six new films were released in South Korea in the past week, including Sony’s Marvel franchise title “Morbius,” but none were able to relieve the current malaise afflicting the Korean theatrical industry.
“Morbius” was released on Wednesday and ran off with more than half of the nationwide business, according to data from Kobis, the tracking service operated by the Korean Film Council (Kofic). The film earned 1.71 million over the Friday to Sunday weekend with a 58 market share that it derived from nearly 1,700 screens. Over the five days since its opening, it managed 2.48 million.
The previous week’s top title, Korean-produced “Hot Blooded” earned 420,000 in its second weekend, for a cumulative total of 2.59 million after 12 days.
Another previous chart topper, “In Our Prime” took third place with 194,000, giving a cumulative total of nearly 4 million since its March 9 release.
Coronavirus continues to stalk Korean society and cinemagoing appears to be among the worst hit sectors.

It is safe to say that South Korean cinema has given us some of the best gangster sagas out there. However, in the last few years, the output in this genre has been sporadic at best and no productions really managed to make their names reach the heights of some that have been before. Hoping to change that is writer/director Cheon Myeong-gwan, with his debut feature “Hot Blooded.”
“Hot Blooded” is available from Finecut
Early 90s. The port town of Kuam, despite having various gangs laying claims to various parts and activities in the town, has known peace, thanks to an understanding between the Dons of the gangs. Hee-su is a low-level gangster who works for the old and orthodox Don Son and is faithful to his Mentor to a fault. This makes him a dangerous man for those that have their eye on some of the areas claimed by his Don.
