This was the best installment of the season yet.
American Horror Story Season 6 Episode 3 was a great, suspenseful hour of the series. It also managed to introduce a delightful new character – betting Cricket will go down in Ahs history as a fan favorite – and clarified a huge amount of backstory regarding the "principal" ghost, the Butcher.
One criticism to address right off the bat: "Chapter 3" was a major info dump. Like, it was so noticeably obvious that a character just went ahead and called it as it was.
The spirits downloaded to me like a paranormal zip drive.

Zip file, indeed.
Cricket was literally traipsing through the woods when the ghosts took it upon themselves to telepathically transpose the 411 about their history, motives, and plans? Uh-huh. Right. Gotcha.
Despite how unimaginatively the exposition was laid out,...

If you didn’t know what you were getting into upon sitting down for Bruce Beresford‘s Mr. Church, you will following this onscreen text: “Inspired by a True Friendship.” The vagueness of this statement notwithstanding, the words ooze enough schmaltz to prepare you for the melodrama of death and miracles screenwriter Susan McMartin has concocted. Maybe she based it on a friendship she had with an adult male who become her father figure in a time of need or perhaps the entire premise is a purely fictional construct surrounding feelings experienced within a relationship devoid of similarities besides being between two people. All I know for certain is that those involved didn’t just want to make any old tearjerker; they sought to squeeze their audience dry like a sponge.

E! News is reporting that The Flash has cast Ashley Rickards as Rosalind "Rosa" Dillion a.k.a. The Top and she'll make her debut as the extremely dangerous DC Comics villain in the fourth episode of the upcoming third season. Rickards' iteration will be a new take on The Top, a male character in the comics, but she'll retain the same metahuman abilities, which are to make people's heads spin. Her version will also likely share a fairly intimate relationship with Grey Damon's Mirror Master as she's being teased as the Bonnie to his Clyde. Rickards is best known for her lead role as Jenna Hamilton on MTV's comedy drama series Awkward and has also guest-starred on episodes of Zoey 101, Ugly Betty, One Tree Hill, Entourage, and American Horror Story: Murder House. Her film credits include Fly Away, Sassy Pants, A Haunted House 2, and Behaving Badly.

It's Fright Night on The X Factor this week and boy, wouldn't you know it! Not only are the acts all singing 'Fright Night'-themed songs (or, well, they're supposed to be) but one of them will be booted out before the night is out after Simon Cowell got fed up with them all for not trying hard enough. If that's not all scary enough, The Script will be popping along to perform.
So join us when the show starts at 8pm as we find out who gives us thrills and who gives us chills. And, of course, who's having a right nightmare and will have to leave the competition...

Last year we featured the resurgence of child star Haley Joel Osment all grown up, playing a man's boyfriend in the indie Sassy Pants, and now Deadline reports the 25-year-old actor is continuing his comeback in the indie world with two more roles that should get him back in the spotlight. First, Osment is joining Kevin Smith's bizarre horror film Tusk. The story follows a podcast host (Justin Long) who goes missing in the backwoods of Canada, where he's forced to dress up and act like a walrus for a twisted man's (Michael Parks) companionship. Osment will play his best friend who goes on a search to find him along with his girlfriend (Genesis Rodriguez). Production begins next month in North Carolina. But that's not all. Osment will also star in Me Him Her, the new film from Chronicle writer Max Landis. There are no details on the story at this time,...

As Sassy Pants begins, Bethany's (Ashley Rickards) high school graduation is rapidly approaching. She has been elected the valedictorian of her home-schooled class...of one. And, no, she does not want to give a speech. We quickly learn that Bethany's mother (Anna Gunn) is a tyrannical parent who has been left to her own devices to raise her two children -- Bethany and Shayne (Martin Spanjers) -- ever since her husband (Diedrich Bader) was caught doing the nasty with one of Bethany's male teachers. Her husband's infidelity has left Anna a bitter and jaded woman who no longer trusts anyone. This is precisely why she has home-schooled her kids; additionally, she wants Bethany to remain at home post-graduation and study via an online college. She is doing her best to shelter her children from the overtly dishonest world. The problem is, her over-protective nature is smothering Bethany and Shayne.

Jodie Foster is developing a female-centric mob series for Showtime. Angie’s Body is said to be "a Sopranos-like drama that follows a shrewd and lethal woman who runs a family-based crime syndicate." It doesn't look like Jodie will star in it, but she is going to direct and executive produce. It's Showtime so I hope there are lesbians.

Sassy Pants is a biting coming-of-age comedy that follows recent homeschool grad Bethany Pruitt (Ashley Rickards) as she struggles to break free. As valedictorian of her one-student homeschool class, Bethany is stuck at home with her younger brother Shayne (Martin Spanjers) and their oppressive mother, June (Anna Gunn). Unable to take it anymore, Bethany catches the nearest Greyhound to her gay dad Dale’s (Diedrich Bader) mobile home, where he lives with his fun, younger boyfriend, Chip (Haley Joel Osment). Remember Haley Joel Osment, the adorable/creepy kid from The Sixth Sense and Pay It Forward? He’s making a comeback in Sassy Pants and trying his darndest to make a new impression on a public that hasn’t seen him in a feature film since 2003 when he starred Secondhand Lions.
In the new independent comedy, he plays Chip, a young, hard-partying gay man who forms a relationship with his much older boyfriend’s naïve daughter. The bold career move reminds me of Macaulay Culkin, another former child star who tried to make the difficult transition into adult stardom by reemerging in edgy projects like Party Monster and the religious comedy Saved!. While it didn’t exactly work for Culkin, hopefully Osment’s makes a much more successful re-introduction on Jan. 28, the day when Sassy Pants premieres at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

Here’s the trailer for Sassy Pants, some indie movie or something co-starring Ashley Rickards, Anna Gunn (Skyler from Breaking Bad) and Diedrich Bader (Oswald from The Drew Carey Show), but which mostly grabbed our attention because of the surprise big-screen return of a now 23-year-old Haley Joel Osment: It’s himmmmmm!!! “I see dead Adults…” So what’s Mr. Joel Osment been up to since the big Pay It Forward / A.I. double-Oscar-snub? (Can’t you win Two Oscars by the time you’re 15?) According to this Google prompt, people Really want to know if he got fat: Oh, you can watch the trailer for Sassy Pants after the jump. It’s alright. The biggest highlight has already been screencapped above (the Google thing): Finally – Haley Joel Osment and Diedrich Bader back together for the first time since The Country Bears, when Osment played a character named Beary Bearrington.

It has been some time since we've seen Haley Joel Osment. The Sixth Sense star practically went into hiding after 2003's Secondhand Lions, saving us all from watching his awkward stage unfold across the big screen like so many child stars before him. (Thank you, Haley.) Instead, Osment smartly sidestepped the spotlight, went to college, and took to voice acting, making only the occasional film appearance in a couple of movies you've likely never heard of. But now he's back and all grown up in the trailer for writer-director Coley Sohn's debut feature Sassy Pants. Based on the Sohn's award-winning comedic short "Boutenniere," Sassy Pants centers on the coming-of-age tale of Bethany Pruitt (Awkward star Ashley Rickards), a home-schooled teen who is desperately seeking freedom from the overbearing parenting of her sweet but smothering single-mom (Breaking Bad's Anna Gunn). So, she runs off to live with her absentee...

Though he hasn't done much in the vein of acting in nearly a decade (his last high profile film was Secondhand Lions in 2003), it looks like Haley Joel Osment is on the verge of a grown-up comeback. We've previously heard that Osment was looking to return to the big screen a couple other projects, but it looks like we might see his return in a film called Sassy Pants. In the film about a teenage girl (Ashley Rickards) with a gay dad (Diedrich Bader) and overbearing mom, who is trying to get a job and go away to college, Osment plays the father's young boyfriend Chip Hardy sporting cut-off jean shorts. Sassy Pants looks a bit like Whip It if Ellen Page’s character found Joker makeup instead of Roller Derby. The coming-of-age film follows Bethany Pruitt (Awkward favorite Ashley Rickards), fresh out of high school and trying to spread her wings despite her suffocating mother (and by “suffocating,” I mean “wants Bethany to go to college nearby” — for shame!), her emotionally wrought, alcoholic, gay dad, Dale, and Dad’s hot young piece of cutoffs-wearing, line-dancing tail, played by none other than Haley Joel Osment (who is rockin’ the Pete-Wentz-circa-2007 bangs like the rent’s due tomorrow). The trailer for newcomer Coley Sohn's "Sassy Pants," starring "Awkward" actress Anna Rickards as a young woman on the job hunt rather than the college hunt, has hit the web.
The coming of age tale features the trials and tribulations that come with trying to make it in the real world while dealing with a difficult world at home. Rickard has to deal with a helicopter mother played by "Breaking Bad's" Anna Gunn who tries to foil her plans; and a gay father ("Napoleon Dynamite's" Deidrich Bader) dating a much younger man, played by "The Sixth Sense" star Haley Joel Osment.
Osment has been out of the spotlight for years, but that doesn't mean he wasn't busy. "Going back to elementary school and high school, I put so much work into having a regular education that it was a huge priority for me in finishing that," he tells the Huffington Post.

There are two things you don’t hear us say very often on this site: one of them is “Haley Joel Osment” and the other is “Sassy Pants.” Tonight marks the exceedingly rare moment where we’ll say both of those things in one sentence, as in, we have a new trailer for you from the comedy Sassy Pants starring Haley Joel Osment. The film, by debut feature director Coley Sohn, stars Ashley Rickards (Awkward) as a teenage girl who attempts to get a job before going away to college. Complicating her plans of escape are an overbearing mom (Anna Gunn of Breaking Bad) and her gay father, played by Diedrich Bader (Napoleon Dynamite). The aforementioned Osment plays Chip Hardy, the father’s boyfriend. Hit the jump to watch the trailer and see Osment like you’ve never seen him before (and probably never wanted to). Thanks to THR for...

The toy boy of "Artificial Intelligence: AI" is now the boy toy of "Sassy Pants."
Sundance audiences get to see Haley Joel Osment as they've never seen before as the coming-of-age indie comedy makes its debut at the Park City festival this month. The "Sixth Sense" star is definitely all grown up -- and works the jean shorts as a much older man's lover.
It's certainly a far cry from the fantasy-based characters Osment was playing over a decade ago, and he looks like he might be the best thing about the rather precious-looking "Sassy Pants," which chronicles the trials and tribulations of a recent high school graduate who has to contend with her meddling mother and gay father. It looks a bit like "Terri," only with a pretty girl and not as funny or insightful.
Regardless of how "Sassy Pants" actually turns out, it's great to see Haley Joel Osment in a movie again.

I know I don't have to tell you there's a new Haley Joel Osment trailer — he's been on your Google Alert since Google was invented, thank you very much — but just in case you missed it, Mr. Sixth Sense has a new movie teaser out. And it's called Sassy Pants. And it lives outside your most feverish dreams. The basic story of Sassy Pants is not, disappointingly, the tale of four girls who discover that one pair of fuchsia, bedazzled Mc Hammer pants somehow fits them all, but it's got plenty of great curveballs to make up for it. Bethany (Ashley Rickards) is cinema's favorite shy high schooler. She has an overbearing mother (Anna Gunn of Breaking Bad) and a laissez faire father (Diedrich Bader)... whose much younger lover is Haley Joel Osment. Who, I repeat, wears a lot of short shorts. He [...]...

#53. Sassy Pants - Coley Sohn We could have a festival loaded with these kinds of examples...here is one more case of a Sundance accepted short Boutonniere (2009) that got turned into a feature length film. Entitled Sassy Pants, with a backdrop of the prom and the pain associated with it, if programmed Coley Sohn's coming-of-ager comedy will most certainly grab a Premieres category slot and be a prime candidate for Queer Lounge Award and in the same token would be a platform for actress Ashley Rickards to shine. Gist: The short's synopsis is...a simple teenage girl attempts to survive her overbearing mother's exuberant plans for a prom she’d rather not attend. Producers: Pavlina Hatoupis and Adam Wilkins(Ioncinema.com Preview Page // IMDb Link)...

"I’m a huge Carl Sagan fan. I’ve read all of his books, and have so much respect and admiration for him that I guess it's no surprise "Contact" is my favorite movie of all time.
"It was able to balance delving deep into philosophy and science, still maintaining wonderful heart and soul. It's the story of Dr. Ellie Arroway [Jodie Foster] who, since she was just a girl, was always interested in contacting faraway lands.
"[Director] Robert Zemekis did such a wonderful job in bringing this story to life. His shots took my breath away. My favorite scene was when Ellie is in the [court] hearing after her journey and is being questioned about her experience. Jodie Foster's acting is so superb; it's just a wonderful scene, in a wonderful movie."
Ashley Rickards stars in the upcoming MTV series "This is Awkward" and spent a season as Samantha Walker in "One Tree Hill.

As writer Steve Niles tweeted recently, “Haley Joel Osment sees dead people again, but this time in pieces.” There are multiple Frankenstein-themed projects in development right now with different studios but this one has just nabbed The Sixth Sense star.
According to Variety, Haley Joel Osment (Sassy Pants, AI) will star as Victor Franklin in a film adaptation of Steve Niles’ (30 Days of Night) graphic novels, Wake The Dead. This modern day Frankenstein tale follows Victor, “a college student experimenting with reversing death.”
Jay Russell (Ladder 49, Tuck Everlasting) will direct the film with a script he adapted along with James V. Hart (Tuck Everlasting, Bram Stokers’ Dracula). Slash, former lead guitarist of Guns N’ Roses, will be producing the project with Michael Williams and Rob Eric of Slasher Films, Slash’s production company dedicated to horror films. Ray Mansfield and Shaun Redick will executive produce.

Since Haley Joel Osment was supposed to be Hollywood's next big actor after becoming a household name thanks to The Sixth Sense and A.I.: Artificial Intelligence but hasn't been heard from in a while, it would be easy to assume that the cute kid grew up to either hate what made him famous or lost his talent. And while both of those may very well be the truth, the real reason we haven't seen Osment in any recent films is because, unlike most extremely talented kids who find the spotlight at a crucial age, he actually stepped out of the spotlight so he could go to high school and then college like a normal kid. But now that he's graduated from Nyu, Osment is getting back into the Hollywood shuffle. His first project is actually an indie comedy called Sassy Pants, but...

He sees dead people! Only this time they’re all cobbled together and brought back to life for Haley Joel Osment’s Frankenstein movie Wake The Dead. The Sixth Sense star is slated to appear in the upcoming horror film as Victor Franklin (get it?), a college student who goes all mad scientist in his attempts to re-animate the deceased. So basically we’re looking at Weekend at Bernie’s 3: Freshman Year. Victor better pray that the varsity calypso band isn’t practicing down the hall from his lab, or that monster is out of there.
If that doesn’t sound spooky/random enough for you, for some reason Slash will be producing the film. It’s been a while since Haley’s last feature film, 2007′s Home of the Giants, though he has both Sassy Pants and Montana Amazon with Alison Brie slated to come out this year.

Twelve years after he creeped us all out in The Sixth Sense, Haley Joel Osment is still seeing dead people. Only this time around, he’s using them as science projects.
Osment has signed on to star in Wake the Dead, one of Hollywood’s million-and-one upcoming adaptations of Mary Shelley’s classic horror story Frankenstein. In Wake the Dead, based on Steven Niles’ Frankenstein-themed graphic novels, he’s slated to play Victor Franklin, a college student morbidly experimenting with the limits of human death. Jay Russell (Tuck Everlasting, Ladder 49) has signed on to direct.

After an eight year hiatus from the movies, Haley Joel Osment is making a return to acting with three independent projects. The first two are in post-production, with no release set and truly unfortunate titles: Sassy Pants and Montana Amazon. The third has a fine title (Wake the Dead) and should have no trouble finding distribution given the marketability. Variety reports that Osment will play Victor Franklin, a college student who experiments with raising the dead in a present-day retelling of Frankenstein. Wake the Dead is set up at Slasher Films, a production company launched by Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash. Jay Russell (The Water Horse) will direct from a script he co-wrote with James V. Hart (August Rush), based on Steve Niles comic of the same name. Wake the Dead is one of many upcoming projects based on the Frankenstein tale. Hit the jump for a recap. Now with...

This one sheet is a seriously great bit of marketing for "Madea's Big Happy Family" that riffs on another iconic poster.
Stills from Dylan Dog: Dead of Night, posters for Scream 4 and A Better Life, heaps of hi-res images of the toy line tie-in for Thundercats, and the logo artwork for The Muppets.
A beauty-sucking Queen and battle-hungry dwarves are the highlights says a script review of the upcoming "Snow White and the Huntsman" at Universal Pictures.
A fun video comparing scenes from both versions of "True Grit".
Warner Bros. Pictures has announced an April 15th release date for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One". The film will be available as both a Blu-ray combo (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy) release and a single-disc DVD.

I see… a career resurgence? EW has confirmed that Haley Joel Osment — a.k.a. the kid from The Sixth Sense with the worst imaginary friends ever — has joined the cast of Sassy Pants, a comedy about a homeschooler (Ashley Rickards) with an overbearing mother. And for any fan of Osment’s early work, it’s hard not to say: It’s about time! Though Osment was the promising young child star of films like Forrest Gump, Pay It Forward, and A.I. Artificial Intelligence, he’s spent the majority of the 2000s providing voiceovers for video games or cartoons. But...
