Quite a cute story.

Sweet little story filmed in Creemore, Mulmur, Orillia, Ravenna Ontario. Canada. The story line was good but very predictable. Kind of in the lines of a Hallmark story. The filming is beautifully gone. The outside shots are extremely beautiful. Do not really want to give the storyline away. I would rate this ok for a family movie. No foul language which was nice. There is some gun play and fist fight but was necessary for the story. Happy ending is the only thing I will give away. The wolf is gorgeous and I loved how the story was about him, obviously a bit of a love story thrown in hence my hallmark reference.

Quite a yawn

If this movie lasted an hour, I may have been able to give it a much higher rating. But it was beyond slow, and so extremely predictable. And I'm not just talking about the love story. Hallmark and Up movies always have predictable stories, where you know that the two main characters are going to fall in love, but that isn't what bothers me about this film. Because it dragged so extremely slowly, without much happening, and the characters were so black and white in there good and evilness, it was clear within the first 15 minutes how the whole thing would play out.

And actually, I only watched the entire movie, because the theme was one that was important to me - caring for animals. I work at a domestic animal sanctuary, so I was really hoping for some warmth and may be more of a complex storyline. It made me sad that they could've done so much more here to bring awareness to the need for animal rights and care.

Didn't hold my attention

5.9 stars.

A few parts of the story are fine, such as the lead male, he's a good role model for young men everywhere. He is the quintessential cowboy who does some moonlighting, so to speak, in this film. He is a rancher first and foremost, but he happens to get caught up in a game of cat and mouse with this pretty game reservist woman. They are hunting an injured wolf, and in the meantime being hunted by a poacher who wishes to bag the wolf and leave them dead on the trail. It sounds like a great adventure, full of action, adventure, hunting, shooting, chasing...but this is far from an entertaining tale. I feel there is something major missing, and I'm not quite sure what, but maybe a little of everything. The music seemed okay, the scenic shots were breathtaking. Maybe it's the dialogue, timing, acting, lack of charisma, who knows. It's just too cheesy and ill timed and just not good.

Premise wasn't bad, but script and acting was stressful
JS-41622 October 2022
I enjoy these simple, feel good romantic movies, but this was hard to watch. The premise wasn't bad, but I guess they thought they had to up the drama with a more evil, cardboard bad guy. And they thought they could put a hat and beard on anyone and call them a good guy rancher. After that everything was so contrived and over acted.

I wish I could find some good things to say beyond the premise. I could have been a real save the animals and fall in love movie, but it became too intense. And there really isn't any chemistry between the love interests.

I'm not sure what is happening with these movies, but the quality is dropping.

Ridiculously amateurish

Warning: Spoilers
Everything about this movie is wrong. The acting, the story, the believability of anything. This felt like maybe an 8th grade film class made this. The one plus side was some of the wildlife photography which probably was taken from something else. You can't crawl into a injured wolves den and patch him up with no problem. The woman falls into a maybe 6 ft. Hole and they can't get out. So they spend the night and the next morning the cowboy happens to find a rope in his backpack and lassos a rock perfectly without seeing it. Now they have to scale a 20 ft. Wall with little effort and the woman that initially had a severe ankle injury, shows no sign of it on the climb out. At the beginning an eagles nest had fallen to the ground with several eggs. The nest was laying on the ground perfectly intact with the eggs sitting in the nest perfectly after a supposed fall from a eagle worthy tree. I thought Hallmark movies weren't very good at times, but this movie makes Hallmark Oscar worthy.

Dull
Pvrspecialist29 January 2023
I watched Christmas in Wolf Creek and it was one of the worst. But then found that there was an earlier movie that it followed from so maybe I should have seen it first which would give some clarity to the second. Wrong. Watching this one does not help the second one. I think it is the female lead, Nola Martin, she is just terrible. Both the story character and the actress. Tim Rozen tries, but a losing battle to improve the movie with Nola and the script working against him. What I cannot understand is the writer Kimmel is the same for Christmas in the Wild and Christmas on 5th Avenue and those are both excellent movies. Again, the female leads were Kaitlyn Leeb and. Kathryn Davis, excellent actors, good female characters with strength and common sense. Maybe you might want to have this movie on for background noise but definitely don't go out of your way to watch unless you like Tim Rozen.

Dumb

Warning: Spoilers
Who writes this dribble? One silly thing after another. They are tracking an injured wolf, whom seems healthy enough to run for miles on end to get away from them. They free climb a tall rock wall, even though the male lead has never climbed before. They fall down a small hole within rocks but don't even consider free climbing to get out. After a night together in the hole they realize she is carrying a rope. They are in the middle of the woods and run into a bee hive and then have to jump off a cliff to get away from bees in a forest. Who makes this stuff up? Obviously I was not a fan of this story.

Poor all around
Jackbv12319 October 2022
Bad acting. Stupid dialogue. Poor staging. Constant tense music.

I think there is a rule that in a romantic movie, the leads have to have a confrontation when they first meet. Check. But the scene was poorly done. There are only two vehicles in sight and lots of open spaces yet Austin's truck iso close the mirrors almost touch. The only way this happens is if the director has to set up a confrontation. Then those looks they exchanged. What was that? Were they supposed to be checking out the prospects?

The wolf hunt is bizarre (and again the tense music). More stupid dialog.

The sequences with spacey grandma are anything but charming. Bobby Daniels is totally unnatural in his role. Likewise Madeline Leon. Nola Martin overplays her claustrophobia.

There's a cardboard villain. So he stands around and describes his crime to two witnesses. Seriously? The whole sequence is ridiculous.

I think I've given enough examples, but there are plenty more. This movie isn't poor in just one or two aspects, but all the way through in almost every way.

If you like animals, there are lots and many of the scenes with them are cute. So add a star for that.
