This Valentine's Episode is Not Exactly A Cutie ***
edwagreen10 February 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Yes, this was a good episode, but much more needed to be done and here is why. When that little brat confessed to plotting her own kidnapping so that mom and dad would come together, what happens to such a child? After all, a man died as a result of this plot. Is there counseling? We don't all just kiss and make up. This is certainly not the end of a very emotional child's plan.

That being said, the episode was good as it shows how good police detective work led to the conclusion about the girl and her boyfriend. Sometimes, it's not even good detective work, but basic instincts and the fact that you happen to know the police commissioner in getting one to investigate further. Such was the case of the cleaning lady whose son is arrested for robbery. How lucky for her that she cleans by Frank Regan.

The sidebar story of the D.A. Regan's daughter upset that her mother will be alone on Valentine's Day leading her to set up a date with her boss, the guy who could become mayor and fire grandpa as Police Commissioner. Must everything be political?

One tragic valentine

The main story here involves a kidnapping of young and rich Ryann Shane off the streets of Manhattan. Her parents are barely speaking, but pull together for the sake of her daughter. It turns out there's a lot more to this story than a ransom demand which in this case was originally diamonds. Young Ms. Shane is in the hands of one dangerous felon.

The cleaning lady at 1 Police Plaza Olga Merediz importunes Tom Selleck to check out the arrest of her son for a robbery. Although Selleck does not actively interfere he does tell the assigned detective to do due diligence and that pays off.

Other than Donnie Wahlberg all the Reagans are unattached on Valentine's Day so all of them celebrate in their own way. Except the attached Reagan who is busy with that kidnapping case.

Nice and sentimental.
