    S7.E1 ∙ Don't Go To Sleep!

    Mon, Jan 25, 2021
As we enter 2021 the podcast is getting some updates. Dom has retired his haunted jersey and we need a new Goosebuds on the team. The Buds #1 draft pick is... Kevin Cole. If you somehow don't know Kevin already from his multiple guest appearances, designing kickass games like Space Kings, and editing like all our episodes, we hope you welcome him into your heart like we have. We're excited to have our dwarven friend on the show to talk about YA books and 90s culture. Kevin, Paul, and Chad cover the 1997 Goosebumps book Don't Go To Sleep!, a story about a reality hopping dork who just wants to sleep in his guest bed. That's the hero's journey for this book-- dude wants to nap on a sleep number. We also discuss the process of welcoming Kevin, Franklin the bus driver and his many kids, BiBs, and Jumpers. Book discussion starts at: 11:35 OFF TOPICS: The Quiverfull Movement, Lord of the Rings percentages, Redwall mouse feasts.

S7.E2 ∙ The Blob That Ate Everyone

    Mon, Feb 8, 2021
The Blob That Ate Everyone has arguably one the best Goosebumps covers, with one of the best taglines, but... is it one of the best stories? No. It really isn't. Even so Paul, Chad, and Kevin have a great time talking about magical typewriters that is also somehow the precursor plot to the Goosebumps movie. OFF TOPICS: The Hobbit dwarves' desirability rankings, a comment on our increased Tolkien-verse conversations, "Buca Di Pepe" and how to impress your friends at Brazilian steakhouses.

S7.E3 ∙ Adventure! - The Twisted Tale of Tiki Island

    Mon, Feb 22, 2021
Put on your sunscreen, we're going tropical. Paul, Chad, and Kevin cover the Give Yourself Goosebumps book The Twisted Tale of Tiki Island. This is Kevin's first time as Book Master and he brings his game designer skills to the role. Can Paul and Chad navigate the exotic location, that totally isn't just a tourist resort in Hawaii? Get ready because THE CURSE STARTS RIGHT NOW. OFF TOPICS: Defining the Midwest borders, the appropriate demise for Rush (the monstrous man, not the band), a strong argument for why we should dunk on the dead.

S7.E4 ∙ Cry of the Cat

    Mon, Mar 8, 2021
As we near the last of the original Goosebumps books, the boys dip their toes into the millennial world of Goosebumps 2000. How do the scares differ in the new Y2K world? Is it worth exploring further? Chad, Paul, and Kevin read through Cry of the Cat. The mysterious feline Rip has a death wish and a crazy third act twist. Meow. OTHER TOPICS: crypto art, spitting up digital, talking Lego Ninjago on Chatroulette.

S7.E5 ∙ The Curse of Camp Cold Lake

    Mon, Apr 5, 2021
Goosebumps stories about camps are usually of high quality, filled with scares about death and teenage puberty. Will Camp Cold Lake hold water? Paul, Chad, and Kevin are your three-way buddy system to talk about Sarah Maas who is the worst. We also meet Della, a ghost with big plans and the potential to be in the upper pantheon of Goosebumps creeps. Also, hey we're one episode away from #100. That's rad. OFF TOPICS: Musicals. Good? Bad? Put on-ish? Also, varsity-lettering in Singing, Footballing, and Snark.

    S7.E6 ∙ Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween

    Mon, Apr 19, 2021
Wowzers, we've done a hundred episodes of Goosebuds. That's a Benjamin of podcasts. We are so grateful for you listening and being a part of this family of audio campers. To celebrate the centennial, the Goosebuds Boys watched the 2018 film Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween 'starring' Jack Black. (The quotations are to mock his total appearance time; not his star power. We love Jables.) This movie evokes different emotions in each of us and things are going to get heated. The magic circle has been drawn. Runes have been placed to keep emotions at bay. Let's discuss this piece of cinematic art. OFF TOPICS: Reflecting on One Hundred Goosebuds Eps, debating the Breakfast Club of the 90s and 2000s, Criterion Buds.

    S7.E7 ∙ Adventure! - D&D Endless Quest - Into The Jungle

    Mon, May 3, 2021
Welcome to Chult where you are the Cleric. Well, technically Paul and Chad are, but you get to come along for the ride as Book Master Kevin leads us through a story about jungle zombies, dinosaur men, and frog wives. This may be the hardest CYOA book we've had on the show. Will the boys survive or at least find some ore? OFF TOPICS: college RAs, railroading in tabletop, Paul destroyed a kid in political debate, communal urinals and their dangers, Touchdown Jesus's, Notre Dame Evangelion.

S7.E8 ∙ Salute Your Shorts: 'Zeke the Plumber'

    Wed, May 19, 2021
The boys are going to Camp Anawanna, summer home of counselor Ug, lovable dolt Donkeylips, and the sentient piece of human garbage Budnick. There are other kids too. One likes basketball. If you consider that a personality trait. 'Zeke the Plumber' (otherwise titled as 'Ghost Story') is Salute Yours Shorts most infamous episode. The tale of an undead plumber with a cut-off nose and his cursed plunger is certainly memorable, but is it as scary as we through? Kevin, Paul, and Chad discuss this episode of pranks, spiders, and ruffled potato chips. OFF-TOPICS: Kevin's Birthday Month begins now. A discussion of birthday existentialism follows. Every day is an internet holiday. Hot Dogs and the greatest meal that Kevin has ever eaten (it was a hot dog).

S7.E9 ∙ My Best Friend Is Invisible

    Mon, May 31, 2021
The power of invisibility is a sinister one. 95% of being invisible is doing dirty or spooky stuff. If you meet someone who says if they could choose a superpower that they'd pick invisibility you should watch out. That's a hot tip from your pal The Goosebuds. This Goosebumps book is a real 'Best Of' RL's story tricks: obvious solutions, ignorant parents, and a twist ending that makes us scream (with rage). Enjoy the listen as the Goosebuds Boys cover this story of a camouflage clinger. OFF TOPIC: The Secret of "Secretly Shaq" has been revealed, poorly, by Papa Johns. They stole this idea from us. So we propose an alternate version of the show. Steal this one, Papa. We dare you.

S7.E10 ∙ One Day at HorrorLand (Reloaded)

    Mon, Jun 14, 2021
Long ago in the early days of Goosebuds we read this book. But while Chad covered the book on an earlier episode with Dom and guest Dodger, Paul and Kevin never got to talk about it. They have things to say. This episode is RELOADED. :puts on cool sunglasses and trenchcoat, sits down in a comfy chair to read: We crack open the legendary tome about a deadly amusement park, the Horrors that run it, and dad anxiety. This book is still one of R.L.'s greatest works, and it was thrilling to discuss it. OFF-TOPICS: Paul's journey through the Goat Farm, Megan Thee Goat Owner, chicken buffs, Skyrim: The Eternal RPG, insight into video game mods.
    Goosebuds (2014)

    S7.E11 ∙ Werewolf Skin

    Mon, Jul 5, 2021
Large parts of the planet are overheating, so what better way to cool off than a book about putting on heavy extra layers of wool and fur? This is a visceral book filled with viscera. Is 'Werewolf Skin' a fun twist on lycan lore? A metaphor for drug addiction? Or just code for someone's fursuit? The boys discuss and have a few laughs. OFF TOPICS: Burning mix CDs for romantic flames, revisiting The Culling, spawn camping your newborn, alternative child-bearing methods, pickling your child, Paul's emulator gift.
    Fear Street: 1994 (2021)

    S7.E12 ∙ Fear Street: 1994

    Mon, Jul 19, 2021
This is a big summer for Fear Street. We're in the midst of three feature films dropping on Netflix, telling a story spanning multiple centuries and horror movie tropes. The Goosebuds Boys Chad, Paul, and Kevin talk about the first film: Leigh Janiak's Fear Street 1994. We have protagonist/angry-ex Deena, passive object-of-affection Sam, cheerleader/valedictorian/driven drug-seller Kate, self-loving goof Simon, and our token nerd Josh. These kids face many monsters but the most terrifying of all is small town class warfare. This movie has so many things to discuss and thus this is a BEEFY episode. Check out that 2-hour runtime. We hope you enjoy the conversation as much as we did. And of course, heavy spoilers for the movie lie within. #JusticeForKate #JusticeForSimon OFF TOPICS: The origin of the finger snap as a battle tactic, RL's True Name, we try something new and actually introduce the show and each other (really just a wholesome opening), and we reveal the existence of The Goof Table.
    Fear Street: 1978 (2021)

    S7.E13 ∙ Fear Street: 1978

    Mon, Aug 2, 2021
Welcome to Camp Nightwing, Goosebuddies. Uncle 'Traveling' Paul is exploring the West Coast so your hosts tonight are Chad and Kevin. These two hairy-belly men discuss the second installment in this Fear Street movie 'chillogy'. This homage to Friday the 13th is brutal and there are a lot of sweet, innocent children getting axes in the face. We talk about comparisons to the Scream vibes of 1994, whatever themes the movies are going for, and the rules of 'Color War' games. Also that Silent Hill-esque cave heart was rad. OFF-TOPICS: Kevin's cosplay adventures, getting glomp'ed, Chad's ideal cosplay rig, a curious Brit, western Miyazaki dubs, Space Jam 2: The Death of Culture.
    Fear Street: 1666 (2021)

    S7.E14 ∙ Fear Street: 1666

    Mon, Aug 16, 2021
This is it. The end of the Fear Street Netflix 'Chillogy' (which is secretly a tetrology but there isn't as obvious a horror pun for that). Paul returns from his West Coast travels to join Kevin and Chad as they discuss the finale of a six-hour tale filled with class division, tripping on berries, sapphic stories, kill count montages, crowdgasp.wav, The Konami Code, and a few twists that simultaneously strengthen the previous films while also making them less necessary? This is a really interesting horror series and we've had fun discussing them. Hope you enjoy the listen too. OFF-TOPICS: Mr. Vampire, Uncle Traveling Paul's stories, coffee milk, spite forks.

    S7.E15 ∙ The Haunted School

    Mon, Aug 23, 2021
You hear that bell? School is back in session. Kevin, Chad, and Paul hang out and discuss this late entry into the core Goosebumps collection. While none of us recall this book from our youth, this one rocks. It's bursting with ideas including dead child statues, roaming packs of wild dogs, tall goth girls, cease-fire proms, sideways elevators, evil photographers and The Pit.
    Goosebuds (2014)

    S7.E16 ∙ Deep Trouble II

    Mon, Sep 20, 2021
We did it, boys and ghouls. This marks us covering every book in the main Goosebumps series. We share the honor with thousands of 90s kid who binge read these things to earn Pizza Hut Book It points. We're gonna take a day to congratulate ourselves and then dive back into the good work as R.L. is still pumping out stories and he only grows in power. This tale of giant sea creatures is certainly no Haunted School but it's a fitting tale to cap R.L's original 62 books as it's filled with pranks, fake outs, marine vore, and a big womp womp of a joke ending. We hope you enjoy it as much as Billy loved diving into that jellyfish.

S7.E17 ∙ The Adventures of Pete & Pete: 'Rangeboy'

    Mon, Oct 4, 2021
Hot damn is this a fun episode of fall television. Chad, Paul, and Kevin revisit the Nickelodeon classic (and arguably the best thing they've ever produced) The Adventures of Pete and Pete and this anti-capitalist story about the extinction of bears, the nirvana of a perfect golf swing, and the freedom of a fur suit. OFF-TOPICS: Too Hot To Handle aka 'Bone Island', "Soaking" at BYU, God's awkward multiple date situation, Skinwalker Ranch's latest monetization scheme/reality show aka 'Dorky Umbrella Corp'.
    Goosebuds (2014)

S7.E18 ∙ Bride of the Living Dummy

    Tue, Oct 19, 2021
It's Goosebumps 2000 time, buddies. And Slappy's finally getting married. Though we're still waiting on them to lock down a date. All the venues (ventriloquist stages) are hard to book because they don't exist anymore. Chad, Paul, and Kevin read this fourth Living Dummy tale about Slappy's shot at love, which mostly involves Slappy negging his paramours and calling them 'slave'. He's a real charmer, that Sole Icon Of The Franchise. OFF-TOPICS: Eastern Time supremacy (which isn't actually real, Pacific Time gets the real benefits), underground California Pizza, the thin red line between "pizza" and "pizza pie", The California Pizza Sphere, our most Cool and Evil Pope's reaction to Undertale, rise of The Ghost Kitchen.

S7.E19 ∙ Adventure! - The Werewolf of Twisted Tree Lodge

    Wed, Oct 27, 2021
RAW-ROOOOO. It's another Adventure. Kevin, Chad, and Paul read through the choose-your-own-story The Werewolf of Twisted Tree Lodge. The boys roleplay as a young plagiarist whisked away to a writers' convention in a woodland cabin that also is run by werewolves? Sadly we don't get to go to any panels about three act structure or meet R.L. but we had a blast reading through this mess all the same. Happy Halloween, everybody. Stay safe. OFF-TOPICS: Kevin's tormented chicken pizza confession.
    Goosebuds (2014)

    S7.E20 ∙ Creature Teacher

    Mon, Nov 15, 2021
In this episode the G-Boys discuss this Goosebumps 2000 story about a monstrous teacher who will eat a student with the worst performance at the school talent show. To be fair, it's really not much worse than our current-day American education system. Mrs. Maaargh is a fantastic R.L. Stine monster and she quickly munches her way into our collective hearts. Bonus: stand up jokes with balloon animals. OFF-TOPICS: Y2K Samurai-Dragon shirts and the cool people who wore them, Magic the Gathering card sleeve tactics, Papa Cole of Lorwind.

S7.E22 ∙ I Am Your Evil Twin (w/Hadley St. Clair)

    Mon, Nov 29, 2021
Kevin, Paul, and Chad are joined by guest Hadley St. Clair (Super Try Studios, Pretend Friends) to discuss R.L. Stine's Goosebumps 2000 book I Am Your Evil Twin. To paraphrase Hadley, this story has so many red herrings it should be tinned. It also has one of the craziest plot twists we've ever covered on the show: clone child trafficking. Scary indeed. They also discuss 90s allergy science, papier mache burdens, and piano standoffs. Enjoy.

S7.E23 ∙ More & More & More Tales to Give You Goosebumps

    Mon, Dec 13, 2021
The Goosebuds boys are back to review another of R.L. Stine's short story collections: the holiday-themed More and More and More Tales to Give You Goosebumps (Special Edition #6). Once Paul, Kevin, and Chad get past the confusing title sequencing and multiple Curlys on the cover (which one is real?!?) this becomes a pretty fun and frosty episode. They cover ten short stories including Nutmares, Kooshball Gremlins, endless ballet performances, Ice Vampires, holiday bimbofications, and our first hard-confirmed Goosebumps ghost writer. OFF TOPICS: Pearl Harbor as a holiday, the trajectory of Cuba Gooding Jr, Kevin's beard oil, Paul's timeless blanket, secret headband tech, Chad's lost Buzz.

S7.E24 ∙ The Adventures of Pete & Pete: 'New Year's Pete'

    Mon, Dec 27, 2021
To commemorate the end of 2021 we return to The Adventures of Pete and Pete's "New Year's Pete". This delightful episode of TV has delicious cocktail wieners, non-glamorous smoking, Debbie Harry, Salvatore 'Big Pussy' Bonpensiero, telepathically-controlled hamster bowling, and jetpack dreams. It all ends with some sweet hope about the holiday and looking forward to the next calendar year. We get some much need calibration by discussing it and hope you enjoy the episode as much as we did. OFF TOPICS: Geoff Keighley's The Game Awards, The Goosebuds' The Game Awards, Deep Rock Galactic, ElecHead, Inscryption.
