These 10 Apple TV+ Shows Are Criminally Underrated
Image
When you purchase through our links, we may earn an affiliate commission.

Apple TV+ is still relatively new in the streaming industry, and despite having made a name for themselves by producing quality content that people talk about to no end, the Apple-owned streaming service has produced some shows that don’t get talked about much, but not because they are bad, but because they are overlooked. On one hand, Apple TV+ has produced extremely popular shows like Ted Lasso and Severance; on the other hand, it has brilliant but nowhere near as popular shows like Drops of God and Slow Horses. That’s why we decided to compile a list of all the brilliant shows that have been overlooked by the masses.

5 Strongest Lesser-Known Ninja Villages of Naruto, Ranked
Image
Let’s be real! Naruto had some of the edgiest and sassiest ninjas. This also applies to their powers and abilities. Be it kekkei genkai or clan jutsu, the series was pure novelty, so to speak.

Masashi Kishimoto often doesn’t get enough credit for the rich worldbuilding the series had. There were lands and villages beyond the five Great Shinobi Nations, and boy, they had endless potential.

So, here we are, discussing not one or two but five lesser-known shinobi villages that were on par with the great ninja nations. They’re ranked in terms of their strength and power. So what are we waiting for? Let’s unpack this!

Fiona Shaw was ‘scared’ to join tight-knit ‘Bad Sisters’ cast but ‘they were so welcoming I never wanted to leave them’
Image
Warning: This story contains spoilers from Season 1 of Bad Sisters

For Fiona Shaw, joining the tight-knit cast of Bad Sisters for its second season on Apple TV+ brought some initial anxiety — but that quickly faded thanks to the show's “generous” cast.

“I was scared,” the Emmy- and Tony Award-nominated actress told Gold Derby on the red carpet at the show’s FYC event Saturday at the Hollywood Athletic Club. But “they all said, ‘Come out to dinner with us. Be with us.’ And they were so welcoming that I never wanted to leave them. I wanted to become an honorary ‘bad sister.’”

Shaw plays Angelica Muldoon in the dark comedy about five Irish sisters. The first season, adapted from the 2012 Belgian series Clan, was developed by executive producer and actress Sharon Horgan, who also stars as eldest sister Eva.

The second season, which Horgan expanded beyond the original source material,...

‘Bad Sisters’ Execs Ready New European Series ‘Dead End’ For An English-Language Remake
Image
Exclusive: A trio of key creative forces on Apple TV+’s Bad Sisters say their Flemish comedy-drama Dead End is primed for an English-language remake.

Malin-Sarah Gozin, who created the Belgian series on which Bad Sisters was made and co-created the Apple show, is attending Canneseries with fellow producers Brett Baer and Dave Finkel with quirky drama Dead End, which is playing in competition. Gozin has directed Dead End with Hans Vercauter.

The show is a six-part drama out of Belgium starring Peter Van den Begin and Elise Schaap about a man with a peculiar eating disorder that makes him a potentially tasty aid to police – he can see the final moments of whatever he puts in his mouth.

Federation Studios recently picked up international sales rights to the finished tape, but Gozin, Baer and Finkel are eyeing an English-language remake, akin to Bad Sisters.

“Whether it’s an...

Creator of the Original ‘Bad Sisters,’ Malin-Sarah Gozin Talks Canneseries Hot Ticket ‘Dead End’: ‘What if We’re the Serial Killers of Our Planet?’
Image
Looking for an original crime series? In “Dead End,” a potential standout at this week’s Canneseries, sleuth Ed Bex is able to glimpse a dead person’s final moments by licking or even better eating a little part of their corpse. He spends much of Ep. 2 trying to steal a toe from murder victim 2 from out of the mortuary and store it at his family home for a moment when he can get a little nibble.

Highly palatable for crime drama connoisseurs from a director championed by Walter Presents, which bought her “Tabula Rasa” for the U.K., “Dead End,” produced by Lompvis and Caviar, has just been acquired by Federation for international distribution.

It could not be described as comfy crime. Playing in Canneseries main competition on April 27,“Dead End” is likely to build yet more the reputation of creator Malin-Sarah Gozin whose “Clan” (2012) was adapted into Apple...

Soo Hugh, who showran Apple TV+’s “Pachinko,” “House of Cards” showrunner Beau Willimon and Bad Wolf producer and ex-BBC top exec Jane Tranter will speak at the inaugural edition of Canneseries Industry, which unspools April 25-27.

Announced Tuesday, the schedule for Canneseries Industry also confirms its scale, makeup and ambitions as an extension of Canneseries’ existing Writers Club, which has been running for six years, and Producers Club, launched in 2022, which serve as networking and discussion hubs rather than any attempt to create a market in Cannes to fill the breach left by the demise of MipTV.

The Producers Club will host 70-75 producers, Canneseries announced Tuesday. The Writers Club currently counts 19 international screenwriters and 22 French scribes. New Composers and Casting Clubs have been added this year while as Broadcasters Conclave will see fiction directors from European public and private broadcasters thrash out in closed-door exchange the burning challenges of today.

Animated Sequels Are Back, Led by Disney’s ‘Zootopia 2,’ but Pixar Counters with Original ‘Elio’
Image
It’s another year of high-profile animated sequels, led by Disney’s “Zootopia 2,” DreamWorks’ “The Bad Guys 2,” and Nickelodeon/Paramount’s “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for Square Pants” and the “Smurfs” film.

But there are plenty of attention-grabbing non-sequels in 2025: “Pixar’s intergalactic “Elio,” DreamWorks’ “Dog Man,” Neon’s French “Arco,” Sony Pictures Classics’ “A Magnificent Life,” Sylvain Chomet’s biopic about French author-filmmaker Marcel Pagnol, and Sony Picture’s “Scarlet,” the latest anime from Mamoru Hosoda (“Belle”).

In addition, Netflix delivers another diverse slate: “In Your Dreams,” “KPop Demon Hunters” (with Sony Pictures), Genndy Tartakovsky’s 2D adult comedy, “Fixed,” “Lost in Starlight” (the streamer’s first Korean-language animated film), “Plankton: The Movie” (with Nickelodeon), “Pookoo” (from Skydance Animation), and “The Twits” adapted from Roald Dahl.

Also, there are three Oscar-qualifying holdovers from 2024: “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl,” “The Colors Within,” and “The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie...

Bad Sisters Season 3 & Possible New Continuation Gets Detailed Explanation From Creator
Image
This article contains major spoilers for Bad Sisters season 2.

Bad Sisters season 3, and a different way to continue the dark comedy, gets a detailed response from co-creator and star Sharon Horgan. Based on the Irish series Clan, the Apple TV+ Original recently closed out its second installment with a tragic death that nonetheless allowed for a sense of closure for the story that the series had been working to tell for 18 episodes. Horgan, who plays Eva Garvey, previously struck a doubtful tone when asked about Bad Sisters season 3. But she sounds more optimistic about heading in a new direction for the story.

In recent comments to Bustle, Horgan was asked about a continuation or spinoff that would focus on Blánaid "Bla" Williams (Saise Quinn) — the daughter of Grace and John Paul, who is now an orphan. Horgan, who created the Apple TV+ show with Dave Finkel and Brett Baer, confessed...

Everything You Need to Know About the Kurata Clan in Hunter x Hunter
Image
Hunter x Hunter's impact on the shōnen genre cannot be understated. Not only did the Kurta Clan inspire the Uchiha in Naruto, the Hunter x Hunter franchise popularized various tropes and conventions that are still present in modern-day shōnen and the series still manages to capture new fans as one of the longest running major shōnen in anime.

The Kurta Clan is one of the few groups in shōnen that deserves far more recognition and credit than they will ever get, popularizing several major tropes such as scarlet eyes that directly tie into one's emotional state. While the Kurta are far from a household name in anime, they still managed to create one of the most tragic downfalls in anime history.

‘Bad Sisters’ Review: Sharon Horgan’s Drama Takes a ‘White Lotus’ Turn in Season 2
Image
Not everything needs a second season.

“Bad Sisters,” created by Sharon Horgan, Brett Baer, and Dave Finkel, and based on the Belgian series “Clan,” was one such series, neatly wrapping up the eponymous Garvey sisters’ story with ten episodes that premiered on Apple TV+ in 2022.

But of those many shows that should have left well enough alone, a rare few manage to pull off that second installment (if not more beyond that) with — if not resounding success, then aplomb. “Bad Sisters” didn’t need a second season, but Horgan and her team execute the near-impossible task of picking up, building out, and smartly continuing the story, even if Season 1 remains superior.

Season 2 catches up with the sisters — Grace (Anne-Marie Duff), Eva (Horgan), Ursula (Eva Birthistle), Bibi (Sarah Greene), and Becka (Eve Hewson) — a few years after the other four planned to kill Grace’s husband, only for her to end up killing him herself.

‘Bad Sisters’ Season 1 Recap: What To Keep In Mind For Season 2
Image
Another season of Bad Sisters from creator Sharon Horgan, based on Malin-Sarah Gozin’s 2012 Belgian television series Clan, is underway on Apple TV+ with all five Garvey sisters returning alongside newcomers Fiona Shaw and Thaddea Graham.

Following the wild pattern of events that unfolded in the first season, a murder mystery still haunts Eva (Horgan), Grace (Anne-Marie Duff), Ursula (Eva Birthistle), Bibi (Sarah Greene) and Becka (Eve Hewson) Garvey. The suspense and — at times — silliness as well as sisterhood continues with the first two episodes arriving Nov. 13 followed by one per week through December 23.

Read on for what to remember from Bad Sisters Season 1 ahead of Season 2.

Sitting in bed in a hotel in Rome, where she’s busy filming Hulu’s upcoming miniseries about Amanda Knox (she plays the accused killer’s mother), the Irish actor-writer-producer is getting ready to launch the second season of Bad Sisters, a midnight-black dramedy co-written and produced by Horgan...

Shonen Jumps Biggest Authors Rank Each Others Big Fights, and the Result Is Surprising
Image
Weekly Shnen Jump has hosted the creations of multiple legendary manga creators, and as the publication's Jump Mangasho portal gears up for the Jump Next Generation Battle Manga Award, four iconic authors were gathered as judges. As part of an effort to introduce a new era of shnen battle manga, creators across the past several decades were given the particular exercise of picking their favorite battles from each other's work. Tite Kubo (Bleach) joins Gege Akutami (Jujutsu Kaisen), Kohei Horikoshi (My Hero Academia), and Yki Tabata (Black Clover) to judge and compliment their best fight picks with delightful results.

The best part of these fights, not only because some are genuinely surprising, is how readers can quickly see the rationalization behind each choice among these veteran Shonen Jump creators. To have one's work judged by any of these is an exceedingly high honor in the field, with each pick being...

Naruto might be the strongest shinobi in the history of the franchise, but there are a few gaps in his abilities pointed out by fans. And Masashi Kishimoto is the main culprit behind it. Despite having such a strong learning curve, Naruto never learned the one technique that he is supposed to have the most affinity to.

The Uzumaki Clan is well known for their legendary sealing techniques. But Naruto, despite being the son of Minato, never got around to learning them properly, especially not from an Uzumaki descendant.

Masashi Kishimoto’s Gravest Error isn’t Naruto: It’s Hyping up One Fan-favorite Character So Much That Whatever He Does in Boruto Feels Like a Mistake
Image
Shikamaru is a fan-favorite Naruto character who is also a prodigy. Masashi Kishimoto gave him a beautiful evolution from a lazy ‘nothing concerns me’ bum to a highly motivated Shinobi. His growth was accelerated by the death of his sensei, Asuma Sarutobi.

After some time, he recognized Naruto’s efforts for the village and decided to support him. His strategies were also highly successful in Naruto. But the character has been severely nerfed in Boruto, like many of the Og cast.

Asuma had discovered long ago that Shikamaru’s Iq was above 200. He received poor grades simply because he was too lazy to take any exams. It is because of Shikamaru’s intelligence in Naruto that he was assigned so many responsibilities. He can focus on the vast amount of information...
