This Was A Hot Episode-Hot for Lawyer ***1/2

Warning: Spoilers
This was a great episode, possibly the best this series has offered.

The girls are really smitten by Elka's good-looking attorney and the 3 make no bones about that. The situation becomes funnier when he sets up a competency hearing so that Elka may avoid prison.

In the meantime, Elka is annoyed that her beau has dumped her. I had actually forgotten that the guy is played by Carl Reiner. How the years have changed him! In the interim, Reiner is set to marry another, but Elka is determined to do something about that.

Betty White's comic timing is absolutely impeccable. Am wondering if she can garner an Emmy nomination for this part.

Not a great episode but a good one.

Strikes me as a tad odd that once-upon-a-time film star, Millicent Martin, should have a good half-dozen lines in the this episode and yet receive no screen credit. Also, there was a child actor listed in the credits, and I spotted none in the episode. Be that as it may, Betty White is, as director Frank Tashlin once remarked of Tony Randall, "a comedy machine." My favorite "Hot" episode ever was the one where Mallick's character does a Japanese TV commercial for "Lady Pants," i.e, an adult diaper. Fall down funny Japanese text on the screen during the comml. That episode was a 10. Whe one where Valerie B. opened the door to Wayne Knight's character and seemed to adlib the line, "Hellllllo, Newman was also a good one.
