5X Media, an international production studio, talent management and TV/film sales company launched in January 2023, has signed a deal with longtime industry executive Anthony Kimble to develop its international production and talent representation business.
Kimble, a former National Geographic and Cineflix executive, moves to 5X as a producer and manager. He will continue to work under his 5-year-old Arrested Industries banner, bringing more than 20 feature films, TV projects and documentaries into the 5X fold.
They include the dark comedy “Becoming Eve,” with “Nurse Jackie” co-creator Evan Dunsky attached as showrunner; “Bitter Eden,” based on the novel; “JoJo: Finally Home,” the Sunday Times’ best-selling memoir of Johannes Radebe; and 10 additional film and TV projects resulting from a joint venture partnership between Arrested and Helena Spring Films.
At 5X, Kimble will split his time between Cape Town, London and Los Angeles, continuing to focus on the international marketplace and spearhead his development slate.

Alec Baldwin returns to TV Friday (June 14) in a more serious role, as the host of National Geographic's programming block "Night of Exploration."
"What happens is you do some of these, and you are done with it," he says. Baldwin had just taped the season's worth of introductions and was at The Explorer's Club, the National Geographic Society's Manhattan headquarters.
"I don't necessarily want to be a cable channel prestige documentary host," Baldwin says. "I don't necessarily want to get locked into a certain kind of work. I did 'Great Migrations' for National Geographic and 'Frozen Planet' for Discovery."
"I thought I was done with that and then they called with this," he continues. "This was an honor."
It's National Geographic's 125th anniversary and Baldwin will host other shows throughout the year.
Despite his seven years on "30 Rock," getting his first break on "The Doctors" and doing so much TV,...

New York (AP) — David Lyle, CEO of the National Geographic Channel, has seen enough of the letters to know how they go. The writer is typically a longtime reader of the magazine, who perhaps recalls the times he leafed through its glossy pages while perched on grandpa's knee.
"The second paragraph," he said, "would always be, 'So you can imagine my disappointment when ...'"
Fill in the blank. Maybe the person saw the channel's documentary about escort services, or a show about a man who sculpts with a chain saw. Perhaps it was a show about gypsies, UFO hunters or people stocking up for the imminent end of the world. Maybe more letters will come after this Sunday, when narrator Rob Lowe starts a nostalgic three-day look at the 1980s.
Every day Lyle and his executive team face the challenge of building a successful network in the era of Honey...

At midnight on October 18, 2011, author and journalist Harold Goldberg launched a unique Web experience and experiment: Playing with Fire, a horror-based script collaboration with three brilliant Oscar- and Emmy-nominated craftsmen. Read on for all the details of how you can participate.
The Goldberg-penned fright script features a bored, disaffected group of kids who come of age as they play a strange, seemingly anthropomorphic fighting video game. Creepiness ensues as the teens try to unravel the terror-filled mystery behind the game.
Those who go to the Playing with Fire website will have the chance to interact with it beyond the features that will be launched each day. Fans can submit their own drawings and trailers -- and suggestions for the script as well. Those who submit are eligible for prizes, everything from cash to video games to Goldberg’s best-selling book All Your Base Are Belong to Us to an eerie dinner with Goldberg.
