It's alright
Der_Merovingian20 December 2022
It's been discussed how changing animation style can sometimes backfire - a classic example being the remake of 1997 Berserk. Moving on from that...

The change in animation style wasn't really noticeable after 5 minutes. The best seasons of Seven Deadly Sins are the first 2 and there is no follow-up movie which is as enjoyable as the first 2 seasons. That said, this movie was rather average, I'm glad I watched it but it's not high on "re-watch value". There's a nice mix of familiar and new characters and a I'm curious to see how the show continues. I'll definitely be watching the next instalment.

STOP CGI versions of Anime
geekoutmetal13 August 2023
It hurts the eyes.

Stick with producing the way the original series is was made without CGI.

This was a really hard watch after such amazing previous shows and even movies.

Netflix needs to return to the natural feel and emotion of the hand drawn feel of the manga or it will lose audiences who are loyal to the series and franchise.

The story is good and I feel if it was done without CGI it would have been more enjoyable and lead into the new series with more fanfare and enthusiasm.

This is one of the better manga/anime series and has a very strong loyal fanbase though it hasn't got the young Pokemon audience.

Animation is major let down
selah-8915223 December 2022
It's good and I'm excited for the continuation of the series and can't wait to get into the plot. But a huge downside is the animation. The graphics are waayyy off of the original art style and it's too 3D. And as much as it doesn't seem like lazy work, the quality of the art isn't the best compared to how it was in the earlier series. Just in general the animation is too 3D and off brand of the original. And the animation reminds me of video games. It just isn't the best animation I'd say.

However, the plot will be amazing and I'm excited to watch the new generation, the children of our favorite sins, in this with the chaos to come. And I really hope we see Arthur.

Good, nothing amazing
rochdiilyass26 December 2022
People seem too focused on the animation aspect and that alone decided their rating.

It is a good movie with enjoyable plot and fine CGI animation. CGI may not be everyone's cup of tea and especially since every new work is expected to exceed the limits of animation, It is 2023. But this movie does it just fine. The combat is fluid and movie is still very watchable while the characters' models look off at times.

I didn't feel the need to address the animation for most of the movie and that's a good sign. The second part will surely feel the same or even better as It is gonna have the most exciting part.

It's alright.
stefclaessen-163894 January 2023
I am a huge fan of the series. I watched everything 3 times over. Initially I was put off by the animations, yes I would have liked them to just stick to the original , but it's not that bad. Graphics are beautiful sometimes. Some characters maybe look a bit weird if u compare it with original though. Story and plot is fine. If u compare this to berserk season 2 which also had major cgi changes then this is really well done.

But still I don't understand why not stick with original graphics, I understand this cgi gives more opportunity for some incredible looking scenes but then the characters can look weird comparing it with originals.

Overall it's ok, gotta be open minded watching this if you are a fan of the series. Definitely deserves a shot.

What were the animators smoking
george_hockley20 December 2022
I was originally a huge fan of the series, but the animation on this is just too painful. I thought the last season or two of the original show was a drop off... but this, this is just to much. I lasted a whole 5 minutes before turning it off. Seems more like the opening scene to a low budget game then the animation of anime. Seriously disappointed as when they first announced this I was very excited.

I really hope that Netflix actually listen and start going back to the original style because words cannot explain how poor this is. They have the potential to make a great series here but as per usual they have fumbled the bag. Who ever OKed this needs sacking.

Bad Animation Choice
naughtyninja-0114822 December 2022
The animation, although wonderfully done, was a horribly bad choice for this series. This type of animation is more appealing towards a younger, kid oriented audience. TSDS was created for an older, more mature audience- specifically one's who were already in love with the original animation style. This was a very poor choice when the series, itself, was already popular enough to begin with- no need to "fix" what wasn't broken.

Story wise, I enjoyed it - especially seeing most of the original characters again. The story was engaging and kept me fairly interested. I feel I would have been more invested had I been able to get past the cringy animation.

Terrible animation
simjpsimpson-1094326 December 2022
What a let down animation is horrific it's a knife to the heart of seven deadly sins. If this is the way they are going with animation they need to get a clue and go back to the original animation it's far better and much more entertaining. I couldn't finish this poor attempt at what could have been potentially a great addition to the seven deadly sins world who ever made the choose to go down this road needs firing very poor choices have been made is this instalment of which I believe are going to be very hard to come back from so I would say don't bother watching this failure as you just face disappointment. 😞

Awesome
jamesheindl-0421728 March 2024
This is the ending of the seven deadly sins we all did not know we needed. This shows a different side of Captain meliodes that is not something we got. His son and ban son are two kids just out trying to save others it will keep you wanting more and part two will not disappoint the best out of the spin offs so far in my opinion you will definitely be happy if you are a fan of seven deadly sins are all.

Do not miss out on an opportunity to see the seven deadly sins in action again with bad blood bring bad guys willing to torture others just to get revenge they think it's the way of the heart but are being used by the old king.

What the hell is this animation
AlphaProxy22 December 2022
I'm a huge fan of TSDS series and it's not just story that got me addicted to this series but also damn cool fighting animations...I don't get it why did animators go for such poor choise for CGI. It doesn't make any sence because it was proven many times that this kind of thing is what ruins shows.

I hope that Netflix sees this and goes back to the original style animation because it's not working for me and certainly won't for many many MANY others. It's painful to the eyes to watch it like that and it does not give that satisfaction that it's supposed to. Whoever in his right mind allowed this to air really needs to get fired.

Animation was a massive let down and disappointment
ruanshawe21 December 2022
The story line of the over all series is amazing but for me the animation was off did not give me the same feeling as when I watched 7 deadly sins the OG as the animation look like I was made for vedio game and not a TV series I gave off a lip reading Vib as you can see that when they talk the words don't match the lips as as of the characters was made out of plastic or clay actually a big let down and for that reason I think I would not continue to watch it going forward as the original animation was for me much beter and gave of an anime Vib and not a vedio game Vib just my opinion anime shows should always have the original animation feel not the cartoon 2 year old show feel with there animations for education.

Terrible childish animation
krakencryptotrading21 December 2022
What is with the animation. It's like a child has discovered the virtual tracking shot feature and doesn't understand how out of place it feels. I have loved all the previous animation, but this feels awful. It also has a very low frame rate in places. I couldn't get past the first 10 minutes. I hope they don't do this for the series too, otherwise I'm done. They have tried to use too much 3D work and it's like watching Genshin Impact gameplay with a cinematic camera. It really takes you out of what is happening, then you get past the first fight and notice how low the frame rate is for the slow scenes. So much so, that you wonder if the render budget didn't cover all these new fancy 3D shots. Zooming over a table of food... why? Zooming along, a castle up to the sky...why?

Who ever okayed this needs sacking!

I Hate the new animation
rbeaver-648509 March 2023
I started the series last week and binge watched it all, including the movies. Whoever decided to change the animation style for Grudge of Eidenburgh should be keel hauled and gang beaten with a sock soap. It's TERRIBLE. It's so bad that it's hard to watch. I don't know if this style is cheaper then the old style but they need to banish this animation style and leave it locked away.

Besides that, I am pleased that they are continuing the story with the 7 deadly children. I am looking forward to seeing more in the future as lomgmas they discontinue this awful animation. I am still currently watching it though. I just felt so strongly about the animation change that I had to get on here.

extremally bad animation
aminekamili21 December 2022
As a fan of The seven deadly sins anime i would strongly advise you to not watch the movie , heck don't even watch the trailer because it is one of the worst movies i have ever seen in my life .

And this one wins by far for the worst one out of them all cause i feel like they just massacred every aspect of the show in every possible ways : (Bad movements stupid animations bad story writing........) If you are a fan of the anime don't ruin it by watching this crap it would just take the joy out of it as it did with me . And in my opinion i think Netflix should just remove this one before it's too late.

Terrible animation and storyline
chantalanderson30 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I Can't watch all the movie at all!! I just can't get past the animation and then there is the poor storyline! So deathpiercer along with the dwarf and other two people decided that they didn't want to be holy knights anymore and just wanted to rebuild... why on earth did the captain up and decided he wanted to be evil and capture giants and fairies?!! It just doesn't make any sense I know they didn't want to serve a king and queen that were a demon and an angel but they never mentioned they wanted to do war with them to begin with... poor storyline and poor animation 10/10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!

3d animation
hcdubeck6 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The main reason why I like anime more than typical TV or media is because of the art involved it it. I saw this movie had 3d animation right off the bat, but watched it because I really do like this anime.

The lack of facial expressiveness is prominent here. It's okay if they used 3d animation some of the time, that's worked with Godzilla Singular point, and could've worked with the hallows. They did a good job on the background with it too, shading and highlights were pretty good. 3d animation has shown that it can be expressive, but the original models need to be altered for that to happen, and that wasn't done here. So the original anime style and the charms of it are lost.

On top of that I'm bothered by the appearance of Lancelot. I haven't read the Manga, but from what I can find, he didn't have the first form that he uses more of a disguise in the movie. What I mention next could be looking too much into it, but it's worth mentioning.

What bothers me is that his change in form is related to his fairy heritage. He goes from a chubby, big nosed, and darker skinned fairy into a blond, light skinned, skinny, smaller nosed human. We can rationalize that there's a weird attempt at diversity, before remembering that King has an "ugly" form, consisting of being fat, having a big nose, and lips that have a relation to black face. If it appeared in the Manga, it still sucks. The traits relating to ugliness are seen in racial stereotypes again and again, and the lips were traded for colorism.

Last thing that isn't actually a critique but bothers me: Ban was wearing pants. Him and Elaine are basically the most intimate couple in the show (Meliodas is solely the horny part in his relationship so its a step down from Ban and Elaine). The two are shown shirtless in bed and Ban gets up wearing pants. I get it, he's been blown to nothing but atoms and has come back in pants, the last thing the anime wants is for his ass to be out, but it still pisses me off.

Ohh no...
cxxxj27 February 2023
Right now I'm like 5 minutes in this movie. So far it is a let down. It feels like I'm looking at a PS2 cut scenes.

Even if the story would turn out to be good the animation is still terrible compared to the series.

20 minutes in: the story so far isn't bad but the animation is too distracting. It looks terrible still feels like I'm playing on a game on an outdated platform.

I wished I could be more positive about this movie but compared to the series this movie doesn't line up.

24 minutes in: I regret watching this movie. It's Soo sad. They ruined a awesome serie within a couple minutes.

I'm scared to watch the rest of the movie and most likely its best I don't...

I don't recommend anyone to watch this. This movie is terrible anf it feels like the creators don't want us to expect a new season of tsds.

How could they mess up so badly
epihome27 February 2023
I will skip anything about the story as its just to painful even to write let alone put you through reading it! It's the change in the animation style that realy destroys what the OG Seven Deadly Sins setup, smoth, clean well animated is what we expected, not this CG overkill with no weight added to any character, on one scene a horse gallops over ground that is moving 3 to 4 times faster that it should simply floating as it moves, this is basic animation skills that are very obviously missed.

This is a poorly written, badly animated piece of garbage and should be avoided like the plague for any SDS fan out ther such as myself.

Bad animation
kklein-0599026 February 2023
Such a let down): I love TSDS show but this new animation style for the 2022 release of the next gen movie series is soooooo bad! Please return to the better animation style!

This new animation looks like it is made for children. It looks cheap. It looks like the incomplete stage of creating an animation. I would compare it to the animated fortnite characters, which is not a compliment.

I would definitely recommend watching TSDS series but not this new movie series because it is disappointing and cringeworthy.

Maybe if there are enough complaints they will rethink this whole thing before they continue. I will not be watching the other movie parts of the new series if they come out in this awful style.

Worst animation choice
edgarskucka26 February 2023
Can't even imagine that they choose THIS type of animation. Someone said before that is looks like Berserk. As example Berserk is old one and created with this style animation from the beginning, but... he had an extra ordinary storyline and this is what make Berserk classic of anime. In the other hand we have THIS title which is already looks like the massive production line with 2nd sort content just to make extra money from popular franchise. I wanted to watch this anime because i like the main characters and if Netflix are not destroyed look of the whole classic animation which is now simply impossible to watch.

Cringe and weird
mbhunter-6829226 December 2022
The son of Melindas is super weird not a fan kf his character, meliodas voice is sounds very weird also the animation is pretty trash there is parts that just look completely off especially for the look of trying to be updated animation they should've kept the originall animation not whatever us going on here furthermore the fairy with the cool voice does not fit overall the story feels like a cheap rip off of a video game sometimes things should just be left alone and left for people to crave more it creates the crave by the way I hate how they did my boy the sin of pride ESCANOR he was the very best part of the series till the outfit change.

A disappointing opportunity
mlunger23 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The animation is decent on the 3d scale, and although its different from the origional, it's fine after the first few minuts. The action seemed more fluid and more entertaining than the previous seasons lackluster animated fights. However, there's many other problems including a very short run time of 52 minutes, a basic plot with many holes and convinces, a b tier villan with motives while on surface understandable, cracks when you think about it more than 5 minuts, barely any time with the other sins excluding Gowther, and the main characters whole dilemma. The issue with Tristan is that he struggled in the beggining accepting his demon side due to harming a close friend and while it played fine in the beginig, during the main battle, until the end of the battle, it seemed like he completely forgot about it. Overall, it could have been a better movie had it chose to make it one movie and not a two parter, flesh out the characters more and make a better antagonist. Good for nostalgia, but not for a good fleshed out story.

CGI
amitshmueli16 August 2023
I think they overdid it CGI too much CGI it's really disappointing Why is their studio so good at making normal and good animation, I felt like I was playing a game of the anime and not watching the series.

The plot is fine and the characters are also fine and it's really fun to see the sons of the main characters It's just a shame that it's also in CGI And in the poster of the series we see normal animation But in thr movie we got One big disappointment

OVERALL:The sequel of the seven deadly sins It's bad The animation looks like a video game I think the studio really let it down

Animation was sooo bad
zoltan_andrusecz19 August 2023
Seven Deadly Sins is one of our most favourite Animes so we were super excited for the new film...

Only to find they so badly got the animation rendering wrong that we literally had to stop after 10 minutes.

Instead of the lovely animation style of the original series we were presented with a Fisher Price quality CGI for 3 year olds 😭

We are so disappointed to have to miss this, maybe the story is fantastic but I literally felt sick watching this abomination of an "anime", was this even done by a Japanese anime studio or sub contracted out to a backwater third world studio or worse asked an AI to do it? 😩
