A veritable army of Disney Channel stars are reuniting for a very un-Disney project.
Matthew Scott Montgomery (“So Random!”), Debby Ryan, Alyson Stoner, Kevin Chamberlin (“Jessie”), Tim Bagley, Shayne Topp (“So Random!”) and Damien Haas (“So Random!”) have all signed on to appear in an upcoming LGBTQ+ horror thriller directed by Allisyn Snyder.
Titled “Howdy, Neighbor!,” the upcoming film is written by Montgomery, and is formatted as a “screenlife” film, with all of the footage occurring on computer screens. Montgomery stars as Benjamin, a young queer millenial actor living in West Hollywood who was once a famous child actor. When a new neighbor Chase (Grant Jordan) moves across the hall and reveals himself as a fan, Benjamin begins investigating the oddly familiar man with his best friend Harley (Ryan). Aside from the former Disney Channel stars, the supporting cast also includes Sterling Sulieman, Adam Faison, Greer Grammer and Kimmy Shields.

When Olivia Holt rose to prominence on Disney Xd’s “Kickin’ It” in 2011, she was barely 14 years old — the same age as Jessica Biel when she began working on the family drama “7th Heaven,” 15 years earlier.

Eric Stoltz's long-ago experience acting in teen-oriented films serves him well with his feature directorial effort revolving around high school politics. Depicting the efforts of a nerdy student and his ultra-ambitious classmate to run for a seat on their school board, Class Rank combines satire with teen romance in sweetly innocuous, but not particularly memorable, fashion. Ironically, despite the focus on the young leads, it’s oldsters Bruce Dern and Kathleen Chalfant who wind up stealing the show.

Who doesn't love a reunion full of drama? Bravo viewers certainly do and it looks like they'll be getting just that with Xscape: Still Kickin' It, the reunion of Kandi Burruss' girl group Xscape. The four-part special sees The Real Housewives of Atlanta star reuniting with Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, Latocha Scott and Tamika Scott as they prepare to take the stage after nearly 20 years apart. It doesn't go as smoothly as you'd except, but looks as dramatic as you'd want. For example, take the scene where Kandi hits a high note prompting Tamika to come running in her bathrobe. "Is the alarm going off? Don't be trying to scare me like that," she says, Xscape rose to prominence...

Don't get cocky, kids! Lucasfilm and Disney are on a massive hunt to find the perfect actor to take on the role of a young Han Solo for the A Star Wars Story standalone film being developed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
The studio put out one of the biggest casting searches ever for the part, and according to THR, 2,500 actors have auditioned for the project so far. They've either met with casting directors or have sent in audition tapes to try and nab one of the most coveted movie roles ever.
Casting director Jeanne McCarthy is leading the charge on this mission to find the perfect young actor to put on the vest. She worked with Lord and Miller on casting the Jump Street movies. According to a casting agent in the industry:
"This has been the easiest movie to audition for. They are seeing everyone."

So, just how valuable and important is Han Solo as a brand to "Star Wars"? The spinoff movie, slated to be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, isn't due to start shooting until over a year from now in January 2017 — and yet, casting has already begun for the lead role, and the net is being thrown very, very wide. THR reports that more than 2,500 actors have met or have put themselves on tape for the movie, and unlike J.J. Abrams, who wanted to go with largely unknown actors for the leads in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," bigger stars are being turned away from the Han Solo movie. Dave Franco, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Miles Teller, Nick Robinson ("Jurassic World"), Logan Lerman, Ansel Elgort, Jack Reynor, Colton Haynes, Max Thieriot, Leo Howard ("Kickin' It"), Tony Oller ("The Purge"), Chandler Riggs ("The Walking Dead"), Hunter Parrish, Rami Malek, Landon Liboiron ("Hemlock Grove"), Ed Westwick,...

Gargamel is up to new shenanigans in The Smurfs 2 - but are the little blue guys entertaining this time around? Read the review by two teens who know movies: KidsPickFlicks.com's Movie Star Movie Critics Joel Courtney (Super 8) and Katherine McNamara ("Girl vs. Monster," "Kickin' It"):
"The Smurfs 2 is a super smurfy family movie. The Wolverine is the latest X-Men movie. How does it measure up? KidsPickFlicks.com's Movie Star Movie Critics Joel Courtney (Super 8) and Katherine McNamara ("Girl vs. Monster," "Kickin' It") rate it a Pick!
"The Wolverine was a blockbuster next chapter to the X-Men series. The film included nonstop action as well as some phenomenal acting moments from Hugh Jackman as Logan struggles to make the choice between his own life and death. The Wolverine has become jaded from his years of fighting and finds the lines between justice and injustice blurred as he is still deeply scarred by the death of Jean. He goes to Japan to see an old friend and almost escapes his eternity but instead gains a new perspective on life and the meaning of the word hero. 4 stars. Ps - There is an epic clip in the credits, so stick around afterward!"

When it comes to thinking about college, talk to Katherine McNamara. The 17-year old "Girl vs. Monster" and "Kickin' It" star graduated from Drexel University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in March! Kat says she plans to pursue her Master's degree and studying for Gre (the test you have to take to get into grad school) and Gmat (the test to get into school to pursue an Mba). So, as high school seniors around the country are finding out what colleges they got into and making their decisions by the May 1 deadline, it's totally fitting that Kat -- and her movie star movie critic friend Joel Courtney from Super 8 -- review the Tina Fey movie Admission, which they rate as a 5-star Pick:
"This spring break, be sure to take note of this great new comedy. Admission follows the story of Portia Nathan, played by Tina Fey,...

James Bond fans will get a kick out of the Season 3 premiere of "Kickin' It" -- the episode is based on 007 movies! "Kickin' It" star Dylan Riley Snyder tells KidsPickFlicks about the episode, "It's called 'Spyfall.' It's all secret agent, based on Skyfall the James Bond movie, so we know its like spy stuff and Jack does some amazing things, hanging off buildings. We have some cool gadgets in there and a pretty good story...it might involve some pudding!"
The episode also involves Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas.
It's so cool they're making an episode out of a movie! What movie does Dylan love? "My favorite movie for kids is probably Fox and the Hound. I think it's my favorite movie in general."

Joel Courtney, the star of Super 8, and "Kickin' It" actress Katherine McNamara are KidsPickFlicks.com's Movie Star Movie Critics -- and they rate Skyfall a 5- star Pick!
"Non-stop action, spectacular visual effects and incredible performances bring us yet another Bond...James Bond movie. Bond finds his arch enemy and is led on a rabbit trail throughout the movie all for the sake of revenge. Many of the actors in this movie delivered noteworthy performances. Daniel Craig was 007 himself, the cool, calm, and collected agent truly under any circumstances. Judi Dench gave a fantastic and surprisingly vulnerable performance as M, a woman torn between her two favorite subordinates and the risk of losing her job as well as the agency altogether. Javier Bardem created the ultimate bond villain in Silva, a former agent turned cyberterrorist, who was truly creepy in every way. In Silva, Bond has found a rat who might be his equal,...

Recently I went through all my stuff in the entire house and went through everything damaged or unuseful or I don't love. That's how I ended up looking through this box of photos and then. Oh! it's the hot waitress from El Torito Grill. I dated her. Yeah, that happened. I mean I liked my life in the '90s but I didn't feel like going back there. The picture of this girl and I, realizing I used to date her and I had blocked it out, shoved it into a black hole of my unconsciousness. There it was staring at me in the face, taunting me. Joel Courtney, the star of Super 8, and "Kickin' It" actress Katherine McNamara are KidsPickFlicks.com's Movie Star Movie Critics -- and they rate The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 a 5- star Pick!
"The Twilight Saga certainly has a grand finale in Breaking Dawn Part 2. This movie is the perfect ending to the series and rivals the others to be the best film of the saga. The movie is so beautifully shot, with the peaceful first snow of winter interrupted by a flurry of vampires and werewolves literally ripping each others heads off (in a PG-13 way, of course)! The leading trio, Stewart, Pattinson, and Lautner, deliver another fantastic performance in the film, as they are forced to truly grow up after the birth of Bella and Edward's child. Another noteworthy performance came from Ashley Greene as Alice Cullen. Her usually placid and sweet demeanor is replaced by a...
