Awful for small children

Very scary- what was Hollywood thinking with a "nightmare train"????? They could have made such a cute movie based off of the book, but this movie was awful. My son is almost 3 and he hated it.

Love It

My 3-year-old son loves this film and I enjoy watching it with him. I absolutely love the music and wish the soundtrack was released on iTunes. It's an all around great movie for adults and children to enjoy together. It offers a great message of overcoming and resiliency, a message all children need to hear. All families should enjoy this movie.

There are a few scary parts but my 3-year-old son handles it exceptionally well and it's necessary to the plot.

Again, I wish I could find the music on iTunes or in some digital format so I can listen to it in the car as the message is very up lifting.

Great little movie!

We had the chance to see this movie in the theater before it came out on DVD (it had a limited theatrical run the month before it was released). We weren't sure what to expect, but I have to say that we loved it! The movie is bright, colorful and FUN! The animation is surprisingly good, and the voice acting top-notch. Usually, movies for younger kids can drag, but this one moved along at a perfect pace, keeping all the kids in the audience enthralled. And I was pleasantly surprised at how FUNNY it was, keeping the adults entertained, too. Patrick Warburton as the Caboose is hilarious and Hudson the sock monkey is now one of my favorite animated characters! The filmmakers really did a nice job of making sure all ages can enjoy this.

I also love the fact that this movie was done in conjunction with the Starlight Children's Foundation. Part of the proceeds from the ticket sales went to benefit that charity... and 50 cents from the sale of every DVD and digital download also go to help them. So not only are you purchasing a great movie, but you're also helping a good cause. And the theme of this movie is not only perfect for the children who benefit from the Starlight Foundation, but for kids everywhere: "I think I can!"

All in all, if you have young kids, or are a kid-at-heart, this is a must watch! It's a beautifully made, POSITIVE movie with a great message and entertaining characters. I hope they make toys to go along with this!! :)

Keeping The Story Puffing!

Warning: Spoilers
I loved The Little Engine That Could growing up, despite being a Thomas fan. And this film is no exception. A great story, nice 3D animation, and a decent cast of characters. It's also kind of a shocker that the nightmare engine actually gave a big scare! Even to me! No wonder that mountain was cursed! At least the characters live on in online fan shows on YouTube.

I recommend this film if the 1991 film isn't in range.
