Good fun show
tootallhoch21 March 2022
Being a US-born non-Swedish middle-aged man, this show was a total gamble for me... but it worked out and I really liked it. I haven't seen the theme of middle-aged women struggling to come to terms with their sexuality addressed in quite this style. The show reminds me a bit of Netflix's Working Moms but with a Scandinavian flavor, more warmth, and less ridiculousness.

It was great to get to see the Sweden-based settings and exposure to Svensk (with English subs -- you just need to turn them on).

I thought the acting was quite good and the characters and plot were interesting... if not totally believable. Still... it all works to bring an interesting story together. If the show is renewed for another season, I will watch it.

Yes, there are subtitles
djsalvi20 March 2022
For all of you saying there are no subtitles, you are incorrect. You just have to know how to turn them on. Mine came up in Swedish with English subtitles immediately. Check your settings. A fun HBO MAX romp.

A very Swedish comedy show!
mawallin25 March 2022
A nice attempt by HBO Max to make a traditional swedish comedy show based on awkward situations, social inabilities and typical Swedish reluctance of conflicts. It balances between funny and embarassing in a deliberately provocative Way. To a swedish viewer this is nothing new but I can understand that it's a very different experience for an american viewer. The actresses are some of the most acclaimed and experienced ones in Sweden and I think their performances are mostly solid. Overall I had a good time watching it.

Surprised me
Nevergivea102 April 2022
I was avoiding watching this I thought it was geared towards women, which I'm not. Well it was geared towards women but I actually liked it. If I had to describe it, I would say it's sort of a Swedish Sex and the City.

A feel good that I did not know I needed. LOVE IT!
fruktzallad1 May 2022
The serie takes place in Sweden in beautiful surroundings. Almost all the characters are really funny in their own specific way and it's great to be able to follow each one in 8 episodes. The language is sometimes so rude that I wonder how they can even take themselves seriously without bursting out laughing on the set. The commercial that was shot with "Vildhavre / Wild Oats" has settled as a mantra in my brain, even if it was too much. The different situations that the characters go through sometimes require a pillow to hide behind because it becomes cringe, but in a good fun way.

I love that it's about 4 women and their lives with men, jobs, boyfriends and children. The series really takes everything to a new twisted level at the same time as it is possible to find recognition as a 40+ woman.

I did not think this serie was for me but I found myself laughing straight out several times. It is not shy or apologetic for itself and I am filled with energy and joy on their adventures. When the last episode was over, I immediately wanted a season 2.

It was feel good that I did not know I needed - or would like. :-) I love being surprised!

If you do not know Swedish, you can turn on the subtitles.

Fun Sex comedy!
jvkpskbj24 March 2022
So ridiculous how people rate 1/10 because HBO does not provide subtitles in English (which are there btw). Instead of rating the series and making it look bad, complain with HBO support!

The series is pretty fun, acting is not bad, and I would love to see more Nordic series on HBO max!

Swedish humor that does not translate well
qui_j20 March 2022
This is a lame attempt to bring a bunch of aging Swedish actresses together in a French Farce type series, but with Swedish humor. American TV has done this many times over, and there's a limit to the number of times one can repeat this formula. The acting is mediocre and the poor editing results in scenes being randomly stuck together in a chaotic manner. The whole PC humor does not translate well across cultures. It's entertaining enough to watch when there is little else in ones streaming queue.

Great scripts
maverick40527 March 2022
In each episode there is at least one scene which is outrageous but so believable. Don't be frightened by having to read the subtitles for those non-Swedes amongst us, this is a great show.

Awful.... just horrible.
emeliesweden19 March 2022
1 and a half episode in before I gave up. This was absolutely the worst thing I've watched in a very long time. Horrible acting, the using of "cool young" words like fett and coolio that nobody over the age of 10 uses. If the acting is bad the writing is even worst. Wouldn't recommend.

swedish farce. a lot of fun.
ksf-218 March 2022
Fun. Quirky. Swedish. Sisters, their friends, their boyfriends and husbands. Hilarious ongoing antics between spouses, friends. Dealing with work, social life, sex life. To cheat or not to cheat. The parents barge in on the kids... the kids barge in on the parentals. Very frank discussions of sex, sexuality, families, dating. And definitely not for the younger children! Funny bits, mixed in with some serious stuff. Directed by ella lemhagen; she's done a bunch of tv and film, and won numerous film fest awards.

Waste of talent ... not funny
jonas-rudberg20 March 2022
Well, what can I say. It was a very long time since you could amuse or shock an audience by using words like "knulla" (the f word). And it was never a good idea to have grown ups talk like they were 11 years old. Sadly the playwright seems to be unaware of these facts.

The cast includes some of the best Swedish actresses. Elin Klinga (Himlen är oskyldigt blå) and Julia Dufvenius (Heder) are great performers, not to mention Sofia Helin (The Bridge). Unfortunately it doesn't help this so-called comedy about the sex life of middle-aged women very much. A lame script is a lame script.

Yes, there are some decent scenes (or maybe indecent, due to the subject) - much relying on good acting. But for the most part I feel ashamed of being a Swede watching the series; after all there is not very much Made in Sweden on HBO - or other streaming services. We can do so much better than this.

Any good comedy should have some core of seriousness. The subject of female sexuality while getting older would make for an interesting drama AND comedy, in some other creator's hands, that is.

If you wish to see Swedish comedy, skip this one and try "Love and Anarchy" (Netflix). If you want some depth, stick to Ingmar Bergman.

Fun!
ashogstrom9 April 2022
Sexually frustrated middle aged women.... I did not expect this to be fun at all but it is! Some of the jokes might be too Swedish for other countries to understand but overall it's about lusting and wanting to have more sex but life, husbands, children and work gets in the way.

When autentisisy fails, badly
l-lundqvist18 March 2022
The actors seems like they are forced to do this or they are too old to act. 1/10.

Why are Scandinavian actors, scripts and filming mediocre at best? This series is bad. Don't watch it.

Seems to have been removed from HBO Max
abensky-511-5257102 July 2022
I had this in my watch list on HBO Max for a while and forgot about it. This weekend I noticed it again and watched the first episode. It was very good! (despite having to read subtitles, which I generally hate)

Then when HBO Max tried to play the next episide it failed with a very strange error. After that it was gone from my watchlist and I can no longer find it on HBO Max either on the web site or the app.

Does anyone know what happened? Did HBO Pull this already with no notification? I can't find any articles online about this, but many about the debut in March.

Hmm
staciarose2019 March 2022
Not sure why this is on US HBO max because there's no dubbing in English, and no subtitles! I kept thinking oh any minute now, but nope. I guess it's out middle age ladies trying to get some, or revive their getting some.

Probably not for everybody.

Full of awkward, embarrassing situations. Challenging for people taking themselves too seriously. It's so in your face that an unsuspecting viewer might find it uncomfortable, but stick with it.

Demoliting decades of achievements for women
jimwhit2 April 2022
What were the writers and actors ever hoping to accomplish with this cringe nonsense? Ignorant and hapless, each episode seems to with the next at undoing all the good that brave forces in entertainment and society have constructed and established since the late 1900s. By absurdly pretending that diversity in ethics is anything but good for women's sexuality and identity, this awkward- dialogue driven mess ends up ridiculing women more than most who have actually reached for that very goal.

no subtitles or dubbing
celiastraus19 March 2022
My husband and I really wanted to watch Lust.because it sounds terrific. But guess what? HBO MAX has provided no dubbing and no subtitles so if you are expecting to understand what's going on you're up the creek. We tried second guessing the stories from the incredible acting but it's a comedy about relationships and sex but it's in Swedish.

Somewhat amusing
mystatm8 June 2022
Kind of entertaining, even if, as in most feminist films, men have somehow taken the place of the indigenous populations in the colonialist movie of the last centuries: dump , perverts, backwards who need to be civilized.

quite ordinary nowdays
typical_swm_finn27 May 2022
As for subtitles it did not bother me to watch the subtitled version. There are now also a sign language version also available.

As for male viewer I was little bit surprised that there were so much distain towards male gender in the serie. For example check out the name of the third episode of the serie.

For now I have watched 5 episodes of the serie and probably I will watch the whole season through. All the characters are in relatively good income jobs and are in good position in their lives and living in stable Nordic country.

Show resembles quite a lot the american Sex And The City, however there are quite a bit more familylife involved. Jokes are mostly revolving around sex, cheating, boredom of matrimony and awkward situations in workplace and personal lives. Also there are quite a lot of commentary about current political situation, fluid gender etc.

Kind of good but a lot of male bashing :(. What it would take for the main characters to achieve happines in their lives.
