Awful
birkby-704231 February 2022
Another totally rubbish film from "Asylum" how this company stays in business eludes me, not worth the cost of the electric needed to watch it. Glen Campbell the special effects man does his best with the $10 budget per picture he is given, but terrible.

More like car crash.

Is this a wind up, like how many bad films can be released in the shortest amount of time?? I wanted to like it but it's just awful. Seriously don't waste your time... Housework would be more enjoyable.

Don't waste your time watching this movie
trulahn6 February 2022
Just from the title of the movie you can tell it's trying to ride on name recognition of another movie coming out this year, Moonfall. That should tell you what this movie is.....cheap knock off. The disappointing part is just how cheap this knock off turned out to be.

As a sci-fi movie, the special effects scenes in it was so pathetically little that it makes Roger Corman films look like Star Wars. The acting was pretty bad but mostly on par with many low grade TV movie productions, filled with over acting and exaggerated lines of recent film school graduates. Even the extras were terrible. In a scene of a Pentagon meeting, none of the people seated at the meeting looked like they belong in a Pentagon meeting, especially the general. Camera angles were also bad. Very boring close-ups to hide the cheap staging of the scene everywhere.

There is just zero redeeming factor of this film. Don't even watch it to fall asleep.

Oh that General
pietclausen3 February 2022
The plot wasn't too bad and most of the actors did a reasonable job, but oh that General should have been hit by the first shard of moon that hit the earth.

Remarkably awful and not in a good way
pjdickinson-278223 February 2022
This is very bad. It's like an amateur dramatic disaster movie without a laugh in sight which could have made this tolerable. As usual each of the nobody actors appears to be reading the script for the first time and you can't really suspend disbelief to find any sense of escapism.

Bad Plot, Bad Acting, Bad Special Effects..... What more can I say?
collectorofsorts2 February 2022
I kind of liked the trailer. Every movie doesn't have to be a Zillion Dollar Box office Production. But everything about the actual movie was just so bad. None of the acting was realistic or believable. It was like they picked people off the street and shot it in one take. And the special effects? My grandkids do better special effects on their laptops. Still, I watched it all the way through which I often don't do on really bad one's. So I'm giving it a 3 star rating because it ever so slightly held my attention to the end. But I can't recommend it to others.

Another run-of-the-mill stellar body on collision course with Earth type of movie...
paul_haakonsen1 February 2022
Great, another movie churned out by The Asylum. And yeah, I have to admit that when I saw those two words on the screen - The Asylum - my expectations to the movie went from slim to none. Yet, I opted to watch this 2022 sci-fi movie because I hadn't already seen it. And while I didn't expect anything from writers Lauren Pritchard and Joe Roche, chances were that "Moon Crash" might actually be a fair enough disaster and end of the world movie.

But it wasn't...

"Moon Crash" is your archetypical end of the world type of movie where a small group of people race against the clock and beating impossible odds and save the world just in the last minute. Yeah, it was exactly that kind of generic rubbish. So if you have seen just about any other movie with large stellar objects hurling towards Earth with impending doom for mankind, then you have already essentially seen "Moon Crash".

The storyline told in "Moon Crash" was generic and predictable, and it was rather mundane and slow paced too. And I actually drifted off in the middle of the ordeal, so I can't exactly say that whatever happened on the screen was compelling or riveting.

The characters and dialogue in the movie was every bit as wooden, rigid and generic as the storyline, so at least that went hand in hand. And it wasn't exactly a cast ensemble with a whole lot of top billing names. I was familiar with Tyler Christopher and Jeremy London, and that was it.

Visually then "Moon Crash" wasn't actually bad. The special effects and CGI definitely were a notch upward from the usual dubious special effects that The Asylum has been pumping out for years. So that was an improvement. But special effects could do only so little to salvage the movie.

"Moon Crash" is not a movie that I would recommend you waste your time, money or effort on. Some of us suffered through this ordeal so you don't have to. If you enjoy disaster movies, then there are far better choices readily available out there.

My rating of "Moon Crash", from director Noah Luke, lands on a generous three out of ten stars.

Amazingly I only skipped few minutes...
maximiliano-villarreal11 February 2022
I guess that its an acomplishment for this movie, which in fairness its unredeemable awful, to get me stay all the way thru but it did.

What can I say, bad acting, were these people actors?

Bad script, all nonsense technical jargon polluted all dialogs, cgi? I guess they were made in a solo PC with stock effects, lame oh lord, but Hey!! I watched the entire movie! Almost.

Shocking but not in a good way
kirkjwootton4 February 2022
Shocking science, shocking acting, shocking script.

Just shocking!

I can't believe money was wasted on this - but not much money I'm guessing!

An astronomer who doesn't know how to use a telescope, people using filtration masks like oxygen masks, the list goes on...

Nothing but garbage, dont bother.
sjbolton15 February 2022
Actors chosen for token demographics and not talent, not a single one is even plausible for their character. The plot is as solid as a basket of soup. And the effects are straight out of the '90s. Sets and props no good. The science is garbage and everything about this movie is worthless. Well i guess you can hear the sound, thats a plus right? Camera work is appauling with small zoom ins/outs at the end of every conversation scene. This is the project of a failed film school class right?

Well at least they're on the moon this time so it's something different.
millordrak2 February 2022
A pretty good movie by Asylum standards. My expectations were low so I wasn't disappointed. Good special effects for low budget sci fi. Obviously not Star Wars but good enough for tv.

Really bad
tomilipin4 August 2022
I'm truly impressed how bad this movie is. The story might be interesting and gripping, but the execution is horrible. Visible body microphones and microports, irrational makeup and dirt on people's faces and clothes, earthquakes created just by the shaking the camera and actors falling down in a weird way, funny props, ridiculous use of gas masks. And that's just the beginning. The movie's pace fluctuates rather substantially - sometimes its really slow and boring, and sometimes a lot happens in a short time span.

It seems obvious that this movie had a budget of about 50 bucks, so don't expect high-end special effects. However, there are some aspects that can be appreciated. First of all, the acting is quite all right. Most of the characters are played by people taken directly from the street, with no or very little acting experience. But they still perform OK. Secondly, the background music is spot on. It's hard to call it a soundtrack but all the pieces fit well with the scenes and they do build tension. Actually, the sound does it better the the actors. Finally, the script deserves some credit. A broken relationship gets fixed while saving the planet.

Oh, and the world is going to end due to a seemingly inevitable collision of a Moon meteoroid cluster with the Earth.

not the worst asylum i've seen
LetsReviewThat2626 April 2022
Not the best one either. The acting was passable as usual is the case. The CGI was a little tacky in places but the stuff set on the moon was really not that bad and having a disaster movie set on the moon is something you don't always see a lot. Not much else to say about this really but its certainly better than other asylum offerings.

I must disagree with most of the other reviews
wayburnwalls10 December 2022
No it was not a good movie but it was not horrible if one can overlook the obvious flaws. The score was mostly overbearing, NO FIELD GRADE OFFICER, especially a GENERAL, ever ever ever has any facial or neck hair and military personnel do not wear a hat indoors. Nearly all B movies make the same mistake. On the plus side, the acting was good in some cases, someone was smart enough to clad the female astronauts in skimpy tank tops, and the idea of an explosion so powerful that chunks of the moon could escape gravitational pull was unique. I don't even know if that is possible but it was original.

Not the best
tonedeaf-837385 February 2022
Poor special effects let the film down. Some of the acting was good. The film could of been better if they worked on the special effects. Had to be honest.

Do NOT pay for it
madziab-2566113 February 2022
The worst movie ever. I'll tell you even sharkonado was mor realistic. That tells you a lot.

Horrible actors play. Stiff. Telenovela would NOT emit it. 😱

I thought the shark ridding the world stupid people was the worst movie I watched
fla_person9 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I was wrong. Analog phones, pay phone in the middle of the desert (that works), people who can smell toxic air but not be affected, someone sawing a certain percent through a beam to save the earth, one tire blowing out and the vehicle is dead in the age of people living and drilling on the moon.

I can't even. 51 minutes in and I have to save myself by stopping watching. If this is any indication of how smart humans are when they have figured out how to live and drill on the moon then we deserve to be wiped out as a species.

Not to mention the fact that IF commercial interests reached the moon for the plunder of natural resources they would probably be so greedy as to drill "too fast" and jeopardize the very planet they came from. And there would be no second thoughts. "Alien" anyone?

Let down by bad acting. It's hard to watch. I like the amateur special effects however there is not a lot of it it's mostly soap opera type acting so I got bored and turned it off.

SFX
buffo-272962 February 2022
Special FX are reputedly good from trailer but when I read the storyline I knew this would stink, so actually have not even watched it. And now we need another sentence to make up 150 words....really?

A just OK space disaster film.
mrmgarnham8 January 2023
B-movie with a great premise, good plot, but just ok writing and directing. The lack of low/zero gravity is jarring as is the overuse of technical jargon rather than clear information for the audience. Sfx are ok.

Great movie to make fun of...
freddie-parsons27 March 2022
This is a great movie to make fun of with a group of friends. Zero acting talent. Zero dialog. Bad effect. Just 100% bad. I gave it a 2/10 as opposed to 1/10 because it would make a great MST3000 episode . Could also be a good "Film Cliché" drinking game.

Terrible
kyleesferguson28 July 2022
Bad bad bad bad. Terrible acting. Terrible "special effects" a high-schooler with a MacBook and a green screen could produced something better. The actual storyline isn't too bad but you just can't watch it without cringing.

Asylum Is The Worst Company Ever!
neolaboratories14 October 2022
You would think after making movies this long that asylum would finally get it right, this is the worst movie I've seen all year oh except for the other asylum movies which were just as bad.

Please asylum stop making movies you suck at it... I didn't know this was done by asylum I wouldn't have even bothered to to watch it.

The acting was disgustingly horrible, the VFX were like you would see in the late 70s, there was no storyline, and it starts off right into compact action it doesn't give you anything to go on...

It doesn't have any buildups, it doesn't have any changeups, it doesn't have any backstory or really any story.

It's like a knockoff of every other moon on collision course to Earth movie out there. Asylum is the worst movie company ever! They keep knocking off good films and they don't even stand their ground against them.

Asylum movies are a joke.

ASYLUM, QUIT MAKING MOVIES YOU SUCK AT IT!

Plan 9 From Outer Space hilarious
ewank4 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So, this is the kind of movie that you should watch with friends and make a contest of discovering the most inept and insane and silly aspects of the film. From the hilarity of meteorites causing eruptions around the main setting, oh yes, this setting is in the Mohave desert but when they go outside the observatory, it appears to be set in a forest. Then there is the story, oh the story. Only five people are part of saving the earth, and of course the military and the nukes. Finally, did I mention the acting, if that is what this is or is it improv? If you can make it through, it will make you laugh at the absurdity.
