A silly and inspiring story of two boys seeking artists around America by golf cart.
This documentary begins as a fun boys trip across America but within a few minutes, you realize that this movie has heart and meaning and so much more than what appears on the surface. Jeremy and Andy met with dozens of artists during their 100 days on the road, from a man who says "poetry is what got him out of prison" to the playwright Edward Albee who has won numerous Pulitzer Prizes. Each person has a story that I connected with and found enlightening, and with the boys as our guide, I was equally engaged in their stories and struggles. The movie is wry, funny, poignant, and really a joy to watch.
I walked away from "kART Across America" inspired and reflective on my own priorities and actions, and I was surprised that two guys in a golf cart were able to make me feel this way. The sound track is amazing (there must have been 50 songs from bands I'm eager to hear more of) and the characters are lovable. I highly recommend this film, for young and old. It is lighthearted but substantial in meaning. I have two criticisms: I wanted to see more and I want to know what's next for these two.
