Plot: Acclaimed writer Truman Capote surrounded himself with a coterie of society’s most elite women – rich, glamorous socialites who defined a bygone era of high society New York – whom he nicknamed “the swans.” Enchanted and captivated by these doyennes, Capote ingratiated himself into their lives, befriending them and becoming their confidante, only to ultimately betray them by writing a thinly veiled fictionalization of their lives, exposing their most intimate secrets. When an excerpt from the book, Answered Prayers, Capote’s planned magnum opus, was published in Esquire, it effectively destroyed his relationship with his swans, banished him from the high society he so loved and sent him into a spiral of self-destruction from which he would ultimately never recover.

Thirteen years after retreating to the sidelines, Garth Brooks returned to the spotlight on Thursday, kicking off a new world tour with a mission to delight his fans. If the raucous cheering, clapping and screaming that accompanied his 2-hour long sold-out performance at the 18,500-capacity Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, outside Chicago was any indication, it was a mission accomplished. And as much as the fans showed their love for the 52-year-old country superstar, so it was clear that the feeling was mutual. "You came back! You came back!" Brooks shouted. "I have missed you." Concert-goers said his voice sounded just as good as ever,...

Matt Damon and his The Adjustment Bureau costar Emily Blunt were together in NYC recently to chat about their movie at the press junket. The film, which opens this Friday, features a shady government organization that intervenes in a fate-like way to affect the lives of ordinary citizens. Both Matt and Emily shared about the presence of fate in their own lives, with him telling a story about the romantic way he met his wife. Emily, meanwhile, revealed her original career plans and made a few jokes about Matt's skills as a dancer. They said: Has fate ever intervened in your life in a similar way to how the Adjustment Bureau works with your characters? Matt Damon: I think it would be Emily's chance to work with me. It must have been one of those moments. Emily Blunt: I have one story that is pretty cool. I remember...

HollywoodNews.com: Patty Duke gives a big thank-you to gay fans for helping her get over her decades-long feelings of humiliation over her performance in the 1967 “Valley of the Dolls.”
The esteemed, Oscar-winning actress will reign o’er “Valley of the Dolls” special screening festivities at Chicago’s Music Box Theater this Saturday (11/20) — festivities complete with a costume parade and “Valley of the Dolls” sing-along.
“I’ve come to enjoy that movie — not that it’s not still embarrassing. But thanks to the gay community, I can see it in a different way and have a good time with it,” she says.
Still, the memories linger all these years later of the critical drubbing meted out for the adaptation of Jacqueline Susann’s novel of pill-poppin’ show business gals with unfortunate love lives, in which Duke starred along with Barbara Parkins and Sharon Tate.
