As SXSW 2013 was coming to a close, I received an email inviting me to a last-minute sneak peek at the new horror comedy film Vamp U. The only name I recognized on the cast list was Gary Cole, but I decided to give it a shot.
Vamp U follows a handsome, likeable history professor named Wayne Gretzky (Adam Johnson) who, in addition to looking good in scarves, is a centuries-old vampire. His enthusiastic student Tom (Matt Mattson) serves as the exposition fairy to tell us in the prologue that 300 years ago, Wayne fell in love with a beautiful human girl named Mary (Julie Gonzalo) but accidentally killed her in a passionate embrace. After that night, he realized that his fangs would no longer grow, forcing him to feed on...

Level 33 Entertainment will send Vamp U into limited theatrical release and VOD February 12, followed by sell-through and rental DVD March 12. The disc will present the movie, which was written and directed by Matt Jespersen and Maclain Nelson and features American Gothic and Office Space’s Gary Cole in a supporting role, in 1.78:1 widescreen with 5.1 Surround sound, accompanied by deleted scenes.
The synopsis is as follows: “Wayne Gretzky [no relation, played by Adam Johnson] is a vampire with fangs that won’t grow. His ‘impotence’ began when he inadvertently killed Mary, the love of his life, 300 years ago. To take his mind off the pain, he teaches college history—who better than a guy who’s been around for centuries? Attempting to regain his full vampire powers, he enlists help from his friend and colleague, Dr. Levine [Cole]. But nothing works…that is, until a new semester brings freshman Chris Keller [Julie Gonzalo]—a dead ringer for his beloved Mary.

In the world's never-ending quest to confuse us as much as possible, two new horror flicks are under way with the same title, Safari. The good news? They couldn't be more different. Read on for the details regarding both of them.
Last week Bloody Disgusting dropped the news that Safari, a found-footage thriller, was gearing up to start shooting on October 15th in Johannesburg, South Africa. Directed by Academy Award nominee Darrell Roodt (Little One, Yesterday) and written by Dark Was The Night scribe Tyler Hisel, the pedigree is right for this one to be a cut above.
That film “centers on a band of American tourists, stranded and hunted in the heart of the South African wilderness. Their struggle to survive the elements and the vicious predators lurking the African plain is documented by the video cameras meant to record their vacation.” Rocky Myers (Vamp U) and Kim Argetsinger...

Dr. Limptooth Poster
Apparently writers Maclain Nelson and Matt Jespersen like hockey. The main character in their film Dr. Limptooth is named Wayne Gretzky (Adam Johnson) and this non-hockey player is actually a vampire. However, Wayne has lost his ability to...er, taste for the living, as he pines for the love of his life; she died 300 years ago. Antics ensue when this history teacher finds a replacement for Mary, but soon the campus is flooded with a new breed of bloodsuckers. This film is currently in post-production, with plans to show at the American Film Market. Have a look at the trailer below.
The synopsis for Dr. Limptooth:
"Wayne Gretzky (no relation) is a vampire who can't grow his teeth. His impotence began when he inadvertently killed Mary Lipinsky, the love of his life, 300 years ago. To take his mind off the pain, he teaches college history - who better?...

I submit to you Limptooth , the latest comedy to draw inspiration from the undying vampire craze. It took two directors to pull this one off: Matt Jespersen and Maclain Nelson and they wrangled in Gary Cole ( Office Space ) for a bit part. The rest of the film rests on the shoulders of leading man Adam Johnson. The film is being sold under the title Limptooth , but there are multiple IMDb titles the film is listed under: Dr. Limptooth and Immortality Bites . How about none of the above? Wayne Gretzky (no relation) is a vampire who can't grow his teeth. His impotence began when he inadvertently killed Mary Lipinsky, the love of his life, 300 years ago. To take his mind off the pain, he teaches college history - who better? Attempting to regain his full power, he enlists...
