An interesting movie
d-garutti12 February 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This movie, although the name, does not focus on supernatural creatures and either gore or trash violence

What we have here is a good work that develops the mistakes committed by a mother that despite love her sons have a lot's of troubles with her drug addicted lifestyle.

We see a protagonist that seems to understand her mistakes according as her mind and body are pull at the edge of what she can take.

Good work of almost unknown Una Jo Blade and with a good director this movie shows a lot more that you probably expect.

Creepy and Engaging
throttletime9 December 2015
Solidly acted story of the things that can get out of control when YOU'RE out of control. It's not presented as preachy or a moral lesson, but when you're drugging' and running' with the hoods in all the usual places they frequent, well...stuff happens that isn't always pleasant.

There was one huge gap in storyline nearer to the end that drove me NUTS - how could you not notice that she...!! - but a good, albeit disturbing, film overall. The actors generally play reality straight, and don't drag the film down by over-the-top portrayals of character types, and that I appreciated. I think I was extra disturbed by this film based on the fact it was shot in Oregon, where I live, and that they chose the town of Keizer (evidenced by a police uniform early on, that is actually known to be really druggy and high-crime.

Leaves you with lots of questions

Warning: Spoilers
No doubt in my mind there are some very sick cookies in this mad world of ours...we only have to see the "Saw" films 1-6 which were horror in the extreme...and so we now deal with "Terrible Angels" OK so it's certainly not for the faint hearted, within the first few minutes when you see someone buried underground with a tube for water and food...you just know this could give you nightmares, especially when we have just seen "The Raven" and the Edger Allen Po story dealing with the live burial of his lady friend...anyway "Terrible Angels" is far from a fast paced thriller...it drags on until we see Linda Grossel (Una Jo Blade) get kidnapped, she ends up as a prisoner with a wire rope and chain around her neck in some wooded area away from the civilisation...worse still there are tubes out of the ground, then the horror of people underground in coffins, they beg her for water...begging to be let out...the horror continues, backwards and forwards to her whilst being interviewed....she recalling what has happened to her...disbelief from her interrogator Ben Nolan(Michael Madsen)...this film is certainly thought provoking, and although she gets away, twice I will not actually spoil the ending, for this was just so unexpected it will leave you just asking "What the hell is this all about?" there are some sick cookies as previously mentioned that can write this stuff...if it is supposed to be based on real life God help us (if he exists at all?)

I'M A WORTHLESS MOTHER
nogodnomasters14 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Linda (Una Jo Blade) is a junkie and prostitute who has been taken captive by a man named Justice (Hank Cartwright) because the writers thought that would be a clever name. All around her are buried people in coffins with PVC breathing tubes. She must judge the people held in the coffins. Linda is not a likeable character.

The story is told as a flashback to a detective (Michael Madsen). Linda is in prison, so we know she escapes. It is a film that holds your interest, but is only mildly entertaining. It is not a horror film (my bad for thinking that) but a thriller that opens with a lot of drama. The ending has a good twist to it, but doesn't suddenly make the film Oscar material.

Makes a good Redbox rental.

Parental Guide: F-bomb. No sex or nudity.

I am not wasting my precious time on this drivel
med77_994 June 2014
How in the hell did Micheal Madison agree to appear in this movie ? I have to say, this was one terrible and unwatchable movie, everything about it is low grade and just awful.

very poor video editing, terrible sound editing, wooden acting and awful amateur direction make this one of the worst movies i was about to see, seems everyone involved in this movie is talentless. yes i could not continue watching beyond the 11th minute of this drivel, and stopped right then and there. it was like watching an amateur video done by regular people on Youtube rather than an actual marketed film produced and released on DVD by whom supposed to be professional film makers ! i know it is a low budget film, but still i have seen many low budget movies that are way more professional and better than this.

I have to be fair and give this film 2 stars because of the remote possibility that it might have gotten better after the 11th minute, which i doubt given the repulsive, unskilled and amateurish start to it.

make yourself a favor and avoid this drivel, spend your time on something better, please

They would be sued for cruelty, lack of consent, etc.
TokyoGyaru25 January 2021
So, while not giving the ending (that I guessed early on) away, I just want to say that there's no way they could pull that off without being sued every which way. What's more, they're potentially putting lives in danger, the people put in the situation unwittingly AND the people who are a party to the arrangement. There's way too many negative possibilities, including murder and/or suicide. But I watched it until the end (though I was doing something else at the time), so that says something. 4 stars for an interesting if implausible premise and the fact that the acting was okay.

Terrible Angels or are we?
ladyann121327 May 2015
This movie hit so close to MY previous addicted spirit as I once was a "terrible angel" by conscious choice and wide-eyed decisions. The movie was compelling. If anyone has lived an impulsive lifestyle, that of illegalities or immoral value(s) that are induced by a power force that hijacks our self discipline, creates the illusionary addicted personality, and listens to the negative neuronal-adapted brain messaging under the influence of external substances, then you will understand that once an "addicted" life is so far out of control...the chances of that life ever retuning to a homeostasis of normal functioning...is slim to nil. The term "hit rock bottom" doesn't even come close to what really does happen. So if we look at ALL the prevention and intervention programs, education programs, science, social welfare contributions, and all the counseling with rehabilitation facilities, and private doctors and mental health facilities and treatment(s) increasing, even lose our faith...still many do not overcome that power-force drive. But if you were a VISIONARY and your purpose in life was to set out saving these save-less damaged lives, one must ponder how to commence these undertaking which is almost an impossible task. The term "terrible angel" for me...meant myself during my addicted years and all those I hurt, betrayed, stole, lied, or deceived...these were my "terrible angel" behavioral acts, and in trying to secure that addicted lifestyle, even though I may not have tried to do these things with intent to hurt, destroy, and/or deceive, it happened anyway. We don't feel the pain under the influence...but the outside world around us does. In this movie I did not get it until the last minutes...and then it hit me like a brick wall...what a concept...that I am sure many mothers, fathers, or siblings have deeply thought of exactly how far they would go to accomplish this dramatic reversal...most family members cannot for miscellaneous reasons, but for the most part they can't endure the suffering of themselves or their loved one. But the "terrible angels" in this movie refers to the catastrophic, undermining, unethical, fear-promoting, behavioral actions that a "guardian angel" will do to reverse the "addicted cycle process" and give it one last shot to SAVE this life's soul. So the terrible things this angel does is in actuality an "Act of God"..."to save these lives", especially if it works. The terrible acts performed are simply to instill fear of worse than death making the addicted individual snap out of the addicted world by detox coupled with scare tactics...What a brilliant methodical detailed out plan...who ever thought of it even just in a movie, was a genius! Tremendous concept, including the title. This movie will appeal to all who have risen above their own demons and perhaps to scientists. Thank you for this movie...I will show it to many! Bravo! One of the most underrated movies I have seen
Mingo195813 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Everyone has a right the their opinions but wow I am surprised at the many low ratings for this. A solid realistic story of a drug addicted single Mom and her path to redemption at the hands of perhaps a serial killer or something else all together. M Night could have written the final 10 minutes as the twist is so extreme I had to rewatch it a few times to understand what had actually happened. Also some very oldie acting all the way around. Consider this a new take on "scared straight" that delves into the societal problem of children being raised by addicted parents and the many lives impacted by the collateral damage. The solution is in this movie and although it is not practical it is very thoughtful.

Not a bad movie, very predictable though
lonniew9 July 2014
By about 25 minutes in I knew what was going on.. but I was still entertained!

It was a really slow start but then after 15-20 minutes it started getting a lot better.. You really should stay through until the end though if you haven't figured things out 25-30 minutes in like I did.

I also have no idea what I could compare this to either, it is a bit unique to me which is why I I was entertained.. I like originality.. so if you can sit through the slow start without giving up like one of the other reviewers then you'll probably enjoy it.

I would have rated it higher if it weren't for some bad acting moments and the really slow start.

Wonderful Movie! Stick with it until the VERY end... You won't regret it!
SouthernTrouble7524 June 2014
Initially, this movie caught my attention due to the cover/poster and it's title. Then I was a bit intrigued about how little was written in regards to the plot summaries. So I decided to find out for myself!

There were a couple of points where it dragged a little and I almost stopped watching, but I am really glad that I watched it to the end!

For those of you who are looking for gore, this isn't for you... for those of you looking for standard horror/thriller clichés, you won't find what you're expecting. But for those of you who can truly stand in front of a mirror and be honest with yourself about what and who you see in that reflection, then you'll appreciate every moment of this movie!
