Cringe Watching
Sport_Ho8 February 2021
This show is really good for cringe watching at best. The plaintiffs and defendants are always terrible actors. Interesting reviews on this show are also fun to read. Surely no one thinks this is real.

This show really is CRIMINAL
Mustang9220 May 2013
Why is this show even on the air in select places? Kevin Ross is not a judge anymore and was disbarred by the State Bar of California.

Kevin Ross was a judge in the Los Angeles courts at one time. Unfortunately, he treated his courtroom like his own little kingdom and regularly abused the rights of people coming before him. (Do a Google search for the Los Angeles Times article on this, published Nov. 17, 2005.) He violated so many people's rights, that the Commission on Judicial Performance (California's governing body over Judges in the State) conducted an investigation.

At the end of their investigation, they REVOKED Kevin Ross' judgeship, and the State Bar of California also DISBARRED this guy from ever practicing law in California again.

So now he ends up doing a TV show as a "Judge"?? Not only is that ludicrous, the show is awful. As another reviewer here said, it's legal lite, as though the Judge doesn't have a breadth of the law. Well... he doesn't! Not when he consistently violated the rights of people appearing in his real courtroom when he was a Judge.

Another Hoax Judge Show
expatinasia17 December 2014
Yet another scripted show, with a discredited former judge. From the LA Times: "L.A. Judge Is Removed From Bench Performance panel says the jurist used TV appearances to market himself for better job." ... Judge Kevin A. Ross -- the eighth California judge removed since 1995 -- was found to have "marketed himself as a judge in hopes that he then could leave the bench for a more lucrative career in television."

The Commission on Judicial Performance also held that Ross had 'trampled' on the rights of three defendants, including a woman he jailed for 2 1/2 days after tacking extra charges on to her case.

Ross improperly commented on a pending case on a public television show and lied in hearings and documents relating to his disciplinary charges, the commission found. ... Ross had been privately sanctioned by the commission...for abusing his authority and demeaning and humiliating defendants. 'As I have previously indicated, I accept complete responsibility for those specific actions that did not exemplify the highest standards of judicial excellence,' Ross said in a written statement. ... The commission also found Ross had misled the commission and fabricated stories during his defense. ... This case, the commission concluded, 'shows a shocking abuse of power and disregard of fundamental rights.'

Arrogant, unfair decider
mlee_usa10 June 2015
I cannot bring myself to call this guy a 'judge' because that he is not. He is unbelievably unfair in his ludicrous decisions and comes off as really arrogant and a show-off. When he hits that gavel it's a miracle the thing doesn't break apart from how hard he feels he has to hit it. This is a ridiculous waste of prime time television and should have been taken off the air the day after it first aired. In 2005, Ross was removed from the bench for unethical practices. Google it. In part, this is what the report says: Judge Kevin A. Ross -- the eighth California judge removed since 1995 -- was found to have "marketed himself as a judge in hopes that he then could leave the bench for a more lucrative career in television." The Commission on Judicial Performance also held that Ross had "trampled" on the rights of three defendants, including a woman he jailed for 2 1/2 days after tacking extra charges on to her case. Ross improperly commented on a pending case on a public television show and lied in hearings and documents relating to his disciplinary charges, the commission found.

Unbelievable. Total mockery of justice
cyndywithay1 January 2021
Working in the legal profession, I would think his show is a satire. Every ruling is wrong that I've seen. Can't watch this show. His intro claims to educate. It's not on the law, that's for sure. Too bad for losers if it's binding The worst representation of the judical process. Lazy and careless. Best representation of why you need a lawyer.

hillcamp1 April 2022
Judge Ross was so wrong in that verdict if I'm in a store and he lock me out after I was in that store and just left it and I get hurt after trying to get back in he is just as responsible as the person that hurt me if it's snowing if I slipp outside Infront of that store I can sue him for damages same thing.

Money rules !!
Former judge Ross may have been disbarred for his conduct.. but the show owns the rights to all televised shows no matter how harsh his personality is.apparently he is entertaining and different. Besides, Ross is already bought and paid for, so why would the pay millions for a new judge, when they have hundreds of episodes of Ross that the network can televise for free. Just business.

America's Court
gunslingah-798-1086866 December 2019
I will continue to watch America's Court. Contrary to what these reviewers have posted this judge was not unethical. It's said he violated his judge's obligations of impartial conduct; I guess which is grounds for disbarment. Anyway, the show makes for good television.

How judge Ross is rude
mosweetness29 January 2017
I just watched a case where the guys sister was suing him for $4500 for his disabled son caught her kitchen on fire. When he put a cake back in the oven and turned it up high. Judge Ross was very unfair to the gentlemen. She was responsible for watching the kid. Period. His dad wasn't even there. Judge Ross never asked the woman about her home insurance. Or did he let the man present the evidence he had. But yet because the guy felt he wasn't responsible because he was at a Fleetwood Mac concert. The judge told,him-"I will make that decision. Not YOU! He found in favor of the plaintiff. Terrible judge. MIs use of power. I'm not ever watching your show, again. Your also very rude. Unnecessary!

Enough Judge Shows!!!
abtwo5 January 2013
Judge Judy is the original and best--in part because she's wicked smart and also because she was sitting in family court in NYC when the rest of the TV judges were in grade school. None of the other TV judges can cross-examine (eviscerate) a witness as well as Judge Judy. Judge Milian (sp) is my second fave and there are a couple of the others (i.e., Judge Alex and Judge Toler) who are okay. But the rest of the TV judges are pretty lame. Either they don't know much law; or they are not smart enough and/or quick enough to make minced meat of the liars who come before them; or they lack sufficient personality (charisma?) to entertain; or they are essentially social workers wearing a black robe and sitting on a bench. Whatever the reason, we could do with fewer of them. That includes Judge Ross. Although he's easy on the eyes, it's painful to watch him discharge his judicial duties, such as they are. Most of the time, when he says "the gavel is going to come down in favor of...," I get the impression that he hasn't even made-up his mind yet. There's a pregnant, expectant pause that screams uncertainty. And his recitation and application of the law are on the light side. Perhaps that doesn't matter on TV. But, then, what's the point?

Not a good person
kdmorris36331 October 2018
This individual resided down the street from me (high school 1980's Casimir Ave) and made me feel very uncomfortable. He should not be on TV giving any one advice. It is stastifying that he has been disbarred, now pease take him off TV.

Woman claiming smoking addiction being harassed by man friend
glunzkarenbeth28 November 2014
The only reason that it is awful is that Judge Ross is obviously not educated about addictions. He needs to talk with Dr. Drew Pinsky and get the information before speaking his ignorance in the courtroom. Giving up smoking has been aligned to giving up heroine. In addition, the addictive personality isn't a choice, it is brain chemistry. After detoxing, which can take up to 2 years+ to detox the brain, thenhealth ier choices can be made one day at a time. Judge Ross literally castigated a woman who was an addict as if she had a choice to "walk on the wild side" or not. She is so toxic that making a healthy choice isn't something she is capable of doing.

I like Judge Ross and I was sad to see him talking about a subject about which he is obviously ignorant. Since I am 34 years sober from cigarettes, booze, and drugs, I know about which I speak. Judge Ross, talk with Dr. Pinsky before ruling on any other cases of addition. Thank you.

Anyone can be a Judge Today
antarmc-6392423 April 2020
This Judge is narcissistic, but he did not get there over night or maybe that is why he wanted to be in one of the highest positions one can lead others. He rules his courtroom like a person that does not understand that no one gets anywhere by himself.

You can see this on how he talks to the most important person in the room; The BAILIFF.

He believe that the rules of evidence are the same in civil small claims as they would be in criminal court. That is how he can manipulate the judgment is unfair because you have a difficult time proving things. He warns us right off the bat in the introduction of the show.

We shouldn't blame him after all the people who hired him are like that, they want some to change our moral system from a "WE" to a "I" system. The power that be are the ones who commit the stupidity of letting morals of justice to be step on.

I wish that producer of shows like this would think of the young people who are trying to have some kind of direction of principles in life.

Another fake show
samuelturpin-6296011 January 2018
A fake show with a fake former judge, very poorly written, and any time they script LGBT characters the LGBT side always loses.

He also comes off as belligerent.

The worst judge I've ever seen.
snowfalcon-385705 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I watched two shows back to back, and he made horrible decisions on both of them. In one case, a man was pushed and lost his balance. He fell onto a surfboard, which broke. The judge made the man who fell pay for it, when the guy who pushed him should have had to pay for it.

WOW this guy is a LOSER
carlyjshankel28 September 2015
Judge Ross is such a loser why is this guy on TV? He can understand the losers that come on the show but when a well spoken white woman is on there he can't understand her? The show is filled with trailer trash suing for different reasons.

Its good to watch for about 3 minutes. I think Judge Ross lost his real job as a judge. This show is on Kcal 9.

This is the kind of channel that when the news is on and they are panning out to go to commercial they play hip-hop or rap music.

Im sure you can guess what demographic they are trying to appeal to. Judge Ross is a racist low life look him up.

I really like Judge Ross
mshively-6095212 August 2022
I have read some of the reviews denigrating this judge and I do not agree at all. I find in most cases he is right on the money: he explains his decisions in detail -explains why he is ruling the way he does. The only downside of the show is that some of the plaintiffs/defendants seem like actors to me: I would hope, like other judge shows, they would use the real people involved in these situations.

Very Biased Show
sportawig18 May 2017
In my humble opinion, Mr. Ross could very well be the biggest racist on television. The only enigma I have concerning the show, is how he arrives at a decision when both litigants are African American - does he just flip a coin? Mr. Ross is not a judge, having been removed from the California bench years ago.

It PURELY TRIES ( AND FAILS FAILS FAILS) to slimeball leach $$$$$$$ from unaware public citizens. Into believing this is America's court. OT is garnering $$$$$ by disgracing our AMERICAN FLAG.

Lame Employee

If Byron Allen thinks Kevin Ross is such a good judge and SO EMPLOYABLE,, even if it's in a negative way, why doesn't he (Allen) also hire OJ and Bill Cosby and give them back high paying jobs too? I trust both of those guys over Kevin Ross any day of the week all year long. Judge Kevin Ross is nothing more or less than a BOOR who enjoys bullying, especially women. My daughter and I sat here and watched his show yesterday and not once did a white person or a woman win their case. BOOR; Look it up. It doesn't mean boring or bore or bored as you might think. I don't know why this word isn't used more because it's so appropriate for so many people.

He is a Homophobe & Not A Judge

Not only has he been disbarred and should not be on the bench or television; he is a homophobe ruling with discrimination. He should be sued and pay out to the LGBT commumity.

bobblazerbob10 January 2024
I'd be willing to make a personal bet that this guy makes more money by being against plaintiffs, I.e. Limits payouts. Some cases are so obviously wins for the plaintive when the judge says what he thinks is brilliant which is you're not winning "up in here, not today." Nothing clever about that at all. Many say, they're all actors, and admittedly, many are, then I guess it doesn't matter, but if they're not, real people are suffering so he can make more money. His biases ante ethically, morally and legally incorrect more than half the time. And how could they hire a guy that's been disbarred for adding punishment to real people while being watched during his interview stage?

Read his bio. The man is a bad person. And his poor kids: They're learning that money is more important than ethics or humanity. He sickens me.

Judge Judy is not a nice person but at least she's legally 95%+ correct only wrong when she doesn't trust the testimony.
