Thanks to the wonders of Britbox I was able to watch the whole series together.
4 and a half hours of one story is a bit of a slog these days with most TV detective stories being solved in 90 minutes.
This episode was a bit tighter than part two which seemed to have a lot of filler and not so much thriller.
Having enjoyed reading the book recently, I was relieved that the dramatist managed to reach the same conclusion as the original writer but did the person in question really have to invent a character that wasn't in the book for herself? All a bit self-indulgent and
the bits that were added did seem to have less quality.
Overall, enjoyable despite the feminist tones (like too many dramas these days, as many PC boxes were ticked) which weren't in the book but, there again, Karen Pirie was hardly in the book either.
Perhaps future stories could be more slick over just one or two episodes but this ambitious three parter just about pulled it off but why did they need to change Rosie's child changed to a woman plus omit other characters and invent some more?
