Interesting Dynamic So Far

Not perfect but I'm still hooked.

But also, not sure erythromycin is ONLY prescribed when someone is deathly allergic, but also when having other reactions such as hives, etc. So it wouldn't have been a guaranteed result necessarily?

Still fun!

Great program
headhunter4627 February 2015
It is February 2015, and I am watching this show now for the first time with DVD from Netflix.

It is excellently written and executed. There is drama, surprises, plot twists and enough humor to keep it from getting too dark.

I notice in season 2 the autopsies are getting more graphic and I suspect that had somewhat to do with the declining viewer ship.

Too bad the writers went in that direction because I really like this show. I am currently on season two episode 14 and the show is getting much better in my opinion.

I'm not certain now how I came across it. I am bummed that the show was canceled after only three seasons, I thoroughly enjoy the intrigue and the antics between the characters.

This show had great potential, too bad it is no longer. But at least we have the show on DVD.

Cliched and 2 dimensional characters, unrealistic

Warning: Spoilers
I am reviewing only the awful pilot episode. I haven't watched the rest of the series yet. It has to get better or else I won't be watching very many more episodes.

In the pilot, the characters just aren't believable. Megan Hunt is apparently supposed to be some kind of comprehensive medical genius who can diagnose nearly anything with just a couple vague details. Yet she was a neurosurgeon which would have required intense specialization. So how did she magically become such an expert in all aspects of medicine? And then she's also supposed to be some kind of Shelock Holmes who can tell at a glance that a man's recently divorced based on the line on his ring finger, a shaving cut, and his 'hotel aftershave'. Seriously?

And then you have your stereotypical cranky but rather inept cop for her to heads with and always be 2 steps ahead of. But what detective is going to take the M.E. along on interviews with him? Or when refused a search warrant will still show up and let her proceed anyway, standing waiting in the driveway while she goes to knock on the murder suspect's door alone? Doesn't ring true.

The rest of the characters are just as cliched, wooden, and corny.

Then there's the huge discrepancy where they dissected the dead girl's brain, slicing it up like cheese. To do that, they would have had to remove the brain from the skull, requiring sawing off the top of the head. Yet in numerous later scenes, the dead girl's head is shown still intact, with no evidence of any brain-extort having taken place. We even see close-ups of it. What kind of magical autopsy was done here?

I'm hoping the pilot was so bad only because the writers were trying to cram in all of the characters with just enough hackneyed dialog to set up who they are, leaving no time for anything but a brief 2D overview. Hopefully the later episodes won't suffer from this. Otherwise, there are plenty of much better crime shows to watch.
