Le Caire, un enterrement (1897)
Cairo is the location of this LUmiere Brothers film, which has a funeral going on in the streets. Obviously one shouldn't be watching a film like this and expecting any sort of plot or anything like that. Instead we're basically given a moment in time where the cameras captured something that I'm sure the people on film wouldn't have ever imagined someone would be watching it over a hundred years later. The film works because it's fascinating to get to see how a real funeral was handled back in the day. There's quite a bit to look at as the camera is placed on a very busy street so we get a great look at the funeral as well as the type of clothing being worn by the people in the street.
