Fun and partially very informative

The episode about sugar was the most influential to me. Very interesting, not much I have NEVER heard before but packaged in a very intriguing way. The episode about ice skating was a passion project for JVS I get that but sadly the weakest episode imo.

Enjoyable background TV

I love Jonathan in Queer Eye (and outside of it on socials) so I was super excited for their own show to come out.

It was definitely enjoyable and I did actually learn a lot, at least a couple things from each episode that I never knew before - which I feel is the purpose of the series.

The little cut scenes/performative scenes at first were a bit cringe but after the 2nd episode I grew to love them and find them funny.

I just binged the entire series in the background while I was busy doing something else, so I don't believe it's necessarily something you'd want to sit down and fully focus on, but it's worth the watch!

Also, people may complain that they can be OTT but if viewers know that's what their personality is like in Queer Eye... why do viewers think it'll be LESS like that when it's their own show? Lol.

Knowledge with extra fun

Why make a serious docu-series when you can be fun? Every moment reflects JVNs personality.

If you haven't seen Queer Eye or don't follow JVN in social media, you might be surprised by their extremely extroverted and glittery personality.

Each episode is about a different subject matter, what actually surprised me is that, instead of just criticizing the industry, they first show why people love snacks or skyscrapers before showing the side effects. The show it's telling "I get you, understand you and don't judge you, but please consider these factors".

A fun, easy watch that's actually educational

I'm a big fan of documentaries, but it seems interesting or topical information always seems to be presented in a dry manner by those who already have a deep understanding of the subject matter.

This show takes the opposite approach, by assuming the viewer has a passing interest in the episode topic and would be more engaged if it's presented with humour and empathy by someone with little or no prior knowledge. The presenters sweet and sassy approach draws out the passion of those being interviewed, and looks at the human impact of each topic in a thoughtful and inclusive way. As a lecturer, I'm always looking for innovative ways for my students to learn, and this is certainly a great way to introduce unusual or little known issues and topics to a wider audience.

I'm looking forward to new episodes!

Surprised!

As a 70-year-old white woman, I wasn't sure what to expect from this show about the curiosity of a famous TV personality, but after watching the first episode, I admit that I liked it a lot. As I continued to watch more episodes, I realized that JVN is an unconventional host, but that he is genuinely interested in the subjects and people on the show. On every episode, I have learned new and interesting facts about the main themes of the show, as well as JVN as a person. Kudos to JVN!

Perhaps for kids?
Amazing-Stories30 January 2022
This entire series has the exact same tone as when Katy Perry interviewed Neil deGrasse Tyson about science. A cringe fest for adults but might be fun for young kids.

Uplifting, educational and fun!

Binge watched! Absolutely loved the variety of topics covered. Whilst the first episode was interesting, I did not particularly enjoy it as much as the others (hence the 9 out of 10) but if you feel the same, stay with it. Hope there will be more episodes in the future!

LOVE JVN... but no thanks
tehalexxx29 January 2022
The first episode felt like Zaboomafoo after a fabulous makeover teaching 2nd graders about bugs. JVN is amazing and I love his curiosity and just general excitedness about everything. It's refreshing and sweet and made me feel good.

However, I felt like I was watching a PBS special for kids.

YES. It was informative if you have never touched a zoobooks or know what the discovery channel or Planet Earth is.. But I was disappointed. It was a little 'cringeworthy'. I couldn't get through the last 1/4 of the episode because I felt like I was watching an elementary school field trip unfold.

I'll try again, but I can't promise I'll get through more then 2 episodes. Pass for me... might be your thing.

Love it!

A fun show that applies an intersectional lens to the subject matter. JVN is a fabulous host, integrating a ton of funny quips and queer cheer while providing interesting information to its viewers.

Give it a shot!

Goofy Fun for Everyone
aarpcats7 February 2022
Jonathan Van Ness is a bubbly, non-binary hairdresser with a gift for comedy. He uses his natural curiosity and personal warmth to interview experts on various topics, which he then experiences with the audience. His guileless sense of wonder and teenage language make him the perfect host for an educational series aimed at children and the young at heart,

This series is a wonderful gift to LGBTQ and non-binary children who don't see themselves represented on Sesame Street or other educational shows. It's fun and it's cool for straight old people like me, too.

This show is on crack
jldivelbiss29 January 2022
I love Jonathan but this show is on crack. Good luck staying on a subject long enough to get an informative answer. The experts that Johnathan interview look super uncomfortable because he always cuts them off mid-convo after he asks them a question. It's just too much. Jonathan does well in Queer Eye because the other guys can reign his wild, ADD personality in.

Extremely educational and inspiring
mamakb23 October 2022
I love that Jonathan creates from the heart and as a result it goes to the heart - the episodes are informative, fun, moving and full of love - just like Jonathan himself - a masterpiece- ahead of his time. The content is pure the motivation for the show is on point - he has presented topics and educated his audience in a way that few others can with dignity and kindness as well as factual and leading edge. He tackles issues t that are so important to all of us and delivers them in a way that is understandable and tangible. I just pray he keeps making more, it is such a pleasure to watch him connect with people at the same time as connect the dots - he can do no wrong.

Good Kids Show
kmontgomery-9851511 October 2022
This is a very good kids show. I don't think it has quite enough content to be adult documentary worthy but it does have as much content as Vox shorts while being fast and visually appealing. It is just a list of things JVN is interested in so could feel like a YouTube series, but it's extremely well produced. A perfect ease to get a younger generation into documentary and non-fiction work. Personally, I wish the content was more graph based (I wanted a table based on the figure skating jumps) but the visual text are very helpful and engaging. Overall, I highly suggest parents watch this with their young kids to help jump start or continue a love of nonfiction.
