- A mother is mentally ill. She attempts to drown her daughter while giving her a bath.
- There are two rape scenes in this movie and both of them are very uncomfortable to watch.
- A woman has several outbursts where she lets out demonic like screams.
- There is a scene in a mental hospital and we see several patients in straight jackets screaming manically.
- A dark room sequence at the end shows a shadowy figure (a man) standing against the wall while Marilyn feels her way around her bedroom and halls.
- A young girl is slapped by her mother in the car and later, she is almost drowned by her in the bathtub; these scenes may trigger child abuse survivors.
- Patients in a mental asylum are seen screaming.

Sex & Nudity
- JFK tells Marilyn to give him a handjob. She does it, but a little uncomfortable. Then, he lowers her head to give him oral sex. We see her face while this happens, but no nudity shown. The scene is shot up from her point of view and nothing graphic is shown because her hand is covering.
- Marilyn is seen having a threesome with Cass Chaplin and Eddy Robinson Jr. in a lengthy scene. Marilyn is fully nude from the side, and her breasts (and also their torsos and sides) are shown without lower body nudity.
- After Joe DiMaggio asks Marilyn how she got her start, she has a flashback to being raped during an audition. However, there is a brief graphic shot of an erect penis.
- Marilyn is fingered by one of her threesome lovers in a theater.

- Marilyn is slapped by Joe DiMaggio in one scene. She then gets into an argument with him in a later scene and we can hear domestic violence but it is never shown onscreen.
- An abortion sequence shows shots on the inside of tools being inserted albeit very, very briefly. However, nothing else is shown.
- Norma Jean trips and accidentally kills her baby. Lots of blood is shown seeping through her dress.
- After Marilyn is taken to the hospital by JFK's men to get another abortion, she returns home and wakes up with so much blood on her body.
- At the end, Marilyn commits suicide by downing three barbiturate pills with alcohol. She lies down in her bedroom, and her vision ascends into the clouds. After a vision of her father, her vision fades. The next shot focuses on Marilyn's dead body for over a minute and a half before the end credits roll.
- There are very disturbing sequences of domestic violence where a young girl's mentally ill mother abuses her and attempts to drown her in a bath. Later on in the movie, a man beats his partner and a woman imagines another woman encouraging her to commit suicide.
- While acting out a scene, Marilyn puts a razor to her throat and her imaginary mother encourages her to cut herself. There is also a fake cut on her cheek.
- A mother bashes her young daughter's face against a car wheel before smacking her several times while she cries. Shocking and rather brutal.

- At the end of the film, Marilyn dies from a barbiturate overdose.

- It is extremely emotional to see Marilyn die at the end of the film from a barbiturate overdose.
