A strong cast struggle to survive amid the special effects and implausible twists in the latest version of the giant gorilla classic
A robust ripping yarn, this latest take on the story of King Kong borrows heavily from the monster movies that came before. And that’s as it should be – part of the fun of a film like this is spotting the plot points that have been ripped from other pictures, even if those pictures include schlock like Mega Shark Vs Giant Octopus.
Like, well, pretty much every monster movie from the original King Kong, via Godzilla, onwards, the real antagonist here is not the one with feet the size of a Volvo estate that crush members of the supporting cast. It is man’s territorial nature and the hubris to believe that violence is the answer (John Goodman and Samuel L Jackson, respectively, are the representatives of the...

The movie, TV show, cartoon and comic references of The Lego Batman Movie...
This article contains major The Lego Batman Movie spoilers.
Holy plastic building blocks, Batman! Almost everything really was awesome about The Lego Batman Movie. After years of dark nights and grim glares at other superheroes, the newest adventure of the Caped Crusader, as voiced by Will Arnett’s perfectly overdone gravel, was a breath of fresh air. Not afraid to let Batman’s sidekicks have fun - even if our cantankerous main guy still prefers to wear only black and sing about “darkness” - The Lego Batman Movie is poised to entertain Bat-fans of all Bat-ages.
Still one of its best gags is its shameless (and relentless) use of references, cutaways, and in-jokes to overstuff its narrative with more meta-humor than the most unwieldy episode of Community. As a consequence, it’s easy to...

King Kong vs Godzilla is to follow Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and Batman v Superman into multiplexes. Why are studios suddenly taking their cues from the makers of Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus and Sharknado 3?
Warning: Contains spoilers for Godzilla and Jurassic Park
If you ever wondered what happened to the good old-fashioned monster movie, in which humans are little more than playthings for warring mega-beasties, the truth is that it never really went away. Last year’s Godzilla featured a preposterous plotline in which a virtually winking giant lizard defends humanity from marauding kaiju, while this year’s biggest blockbuster action spectacle, Jurassic World, culminates with a scene in which the ferocious T-Rex from Steven Spielberg’s earlier Jurassic Park movies pops out of retirement to face down the new episode’s genetically modified Indominus Rex – then inexplicably curls back up in its paddock to wait for...

Actor Vijay is very much obsessed with the films as he has been so quickly completed each and every project within short span of time. Maybe, he is busy saving funds for launching his political party. Earlier, he would focus particularly on each and every project, but now has gone careless by working simultaneously on various films at the same time. Much prior to the release of his 50th film ‘Sura’, he started working on ‘Kavalkaran’ and now before the release of it, he will start the shooting of ‘Velayudham’.
According to the sources, the film’s Puja will be held on July 15 and will be hosted in grandeur. The very next day, Vijay will start shooting for the film at Avm Studios and Jeyam Raja will paint the same wall colors of the original version ‘Aazad’. Please Jeyam Raja! Try something new and don’t call yourself as filmmaker...

Analyzing the reports of box office results in the past 8 months, things have turned to be completely surprising for the buffs as the superstars have blatantly disappointed while few have really lived up to the expectations. Guess what? The films of Ajith Kumar and Vijay we anticipated to do well, flunked terribly at box office.
But it’s Vijay, who leads the failures’ list as his ‘Vettaikaran’ and 50th film ‘Sura’ was a bad flop. However, Ajith Kumar follows the list as his ‘Asal’ being produced at such a big cost was again a flop. Nothing seems to be impressive with these actors unlike Surya, whose films have been runaway successes. Followed by the grand success of ‘Aadhavan’, the film ‘Singam’ is rocking at its best in box office. In spite of Manirathnam’s ‘Raavanan’ released before couple of weeks, the film has been doing well and relatively, his upcoming...

Are the producers in Sun Pictures feeling that Thamannah is the lucky factor for the success of all their films? Adds jocularly one of the film buffs that sign Thamannah as the heroine and your film is done with Sun Pictures. Jokes apart, but it remains quite unbelievable as the production house has been continuously acquiring the projects of Thamannah. It started with Dhanush starrer ‘Padikadhavan’, followed by Surya’s ‘Ayan’, ‘Kanden Kadhalai’, Vijay’s ‘Sura’, Jeyam Ravi starrer ‘Thillalangadi’ and so on.
Anyways, all is well until everything goes well. By now, Thamannah has reached the bandwagon of main league of actresses getting paid with 8-digit salary.
The next release ‘Thillalangadi’ is scheduled to hit screens on July 23 and sooner, she’ll start shooting for Lingusamy’s untitled film with Silambarasan in lead role.

Thamanna – this is how we previously addressed her and that was considered as a unlucky name for the actress as she couldn’t make it bigger in tinsel tow. Later, she made got an additional letter to the name that won her more offers. In fact, it all happened with the comeback in ‘Kalloori’. From them onwards, there was no turning back for the actress as she continued to make it big with ‘Ayan’, ‘Padikadhavan’, ‘Kanden Kadhalai’, ‘Sura’, ‘Thillalangadi’i and so many other regional projects.
It seems that the actress is referring so many actresses, who are not doing well in tinsel town. Say for instance, she has sent the actress Vedhika (Muni fame) to the same numerologist in Mumbai and so many artists are asking for his appointment through her.
Is India really shining???...

The entire team of Sun Pictures is now regretting for having acquired the rights of Vijay’s 50th film ‘Sura’. The film didn’t do well at least even for a week as most of the theatres were empty houses right before the first week itself. Reluctant to receive the reviews, the actor took a flight to Bangkok to forget his worries.
Sun Pictures’ next film ‘Singam’ was supposed to release during second week of June and will now have a preponed release on May 28. Many would have expressed that it was the need of calling the attention of family audiences much prior to the end of summer vacations. But that’s not the fact as distributors and exhibitors of ‘Sura’ were insisting Sun Pictures to compensate the loss.
With no options left, they have decided to provide ‘Singam’ at a lower price and are sure that they can get...

Thamanna’s new policy
Thamanna feels that if you look back at the failures it will affect the successes in future. Her recent film Sura in which she did the female lead role got the worst reviews. When asked her about these reviews, she very clearly said,” I have done my job with perfection. I will not see whether the film has done well or not. Not only this film, have I followed the same policy in the other films I act. “She had the intention to increase her salary by Rs 1 Crore but after the flop of Sura she has postponed this idea. She is demanding Rs 40 Lakhs t act in Ad films.
