As summer approaches (for the Northern Hemisphere at least), Netflix is set to premiere a fresh season of one of its biggest hits.
Brigerton season 3 is set to arrive on May 16 and will debut a “new crop of debutantes” into the regency drama fray. Other original series of note this month include Indian drama Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar (May 1), the Jeff Daniels-starring A Man in Full (May 2), and intriguing Korean title The 8 Show (May 17). Of course, Netflix is also rolling out a suite of true crime docs and docuseries as well. Chief among those options is Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal on May 15.
It’s the movie side of things where Netflix is feeling particularly lively though. May 3 sees the arrival of Jerry Seinfeld Pop Tart comedy Unfrosted. That will be followed by rom-com Mother of the Bride (May 9) and the Jennifer Lopez-starring Atlas (May 24).

It’s season finale time for networks, but Netflix, naturally, still has plenty of brand new TV and shows coming in May.
Jeff Daniels makes his TV return in the David E. Kelley series “A Man in Full.” That six-episode series is based on the bestselling book of the same name by Tom Wolfe. Per a press release: “When Atlanta real estate mogul Charlie Croker faces sudden bankruptcy, political and business interests collide as Charlie defends his empire from those attempting to capitalize on his fall from grace.” The series will also star Tom Pelphrey, Diane Lane, Lucy Liu, William Jackson Harper, Aml Ameen, Sarah Jones, Jon Michael Hill and Chanté Adams.
Additionally, comedy fans can get excited for a new special series from John Mulaney. The comedian is hosting a multi-night event, “John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA,” that looks to be part interview show and part man-on-the-street hijinks.

Greek Island Murder Mystery ‘The Beach’ Puts Dark Spin on Summer of Love, Proves to Be Primetime Hit
Even before it became a primetime sensation last fall, Greek drama “The Beach” had all the elements of a smash hit. Set during the summer of free love in a hippie commune on the island of Crete, the sun-splashed series takes a dark turn with a mysterious murder, setting into motion events that have captivated Greek audiences across more than one hundred episodes to date.
For the creative team at Foss Productions, which co-produced the show with public broadcaster Ert, “The Beach” was an opportunity to push the envelope in a way that hadn’t been done before on Greek television.
“We thought, ‘Let’s try to approach a long-running show in the same way that we approach a mini-series,’” says Orestis Plakias, of the Athens-based outfit behind shows like the Netflix original series “Maestro in Blue” and 2023 Series Mania competition selection “Milky Way.”

Maestro In Blue, the Greek drama series created by and starring Christopher Papakaliatis, is returning for a second season.
Netflix and Greek broadcaster Mega TV will launch the second season of the show on May 16.
The renewal comes a year after the series debuted on the streaming service, marking Netflix’s first worldwide pick up of a Greek series. The show reached the global top 10 for non-English series in 18 countries after its March 2023 debut.
The series follows a musician named Orestis, played by Papakaliatis, who travels to the scenic Greek island of Paxos during the Covid-19 pandemic in order to set up a music festival from scratch. He also finds love and himself embroiled in other people’s problems.
The first season featured nine episodes and the second season will feature six episodes. This will then be followed by a third and final season, which will air on Netflix and Mega later in the fall.

“Younger” star Miriam Shor has been cast in Bradley Cooper’s Leonard Bernstein biopic, “Maestro.”
Shor exclusively tells Variety that she is playing actor and model Cynthia O’Neal, a friend of the legendary musician and his wife Felicia Montealegre.
Cooper directed the Netflix film, co-wrote it with Josh Singer and stars as Bernstein. Carey Mulligan portrays Montealegre.
“I play Cynthia O’Neal, who was a very good friend of the Bernsteins, particularly his wife, Felicia,” Shor said Thursday night at the Los Angeles premiere of her and Cooper’s latest film, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.” “I mean, that was unbelievable. Because an actor who also directs, to get to work with Bradley… he’s a savant. It’s miraculous. So that was really special, I was really grateful.”

Apple TV+’s “The Last Thing He Told Me,” adapted from the best-selling novel of the same name by Laura Dave, arrives 17 years after we bade farewell to Sydney Bristow, and critics agree it’s great to see Jennifer Garner on television again. Though she headlined HBO’s “Camping” and has a recurring role on Starz’s “Party Down,” this is Garner’s most solid Emmy vehicle since “Alias” earned her four nominations throughout its five-season run on ABC.
Artisanal woodworker Hannah Michaels (Garner) has worked to shield herself from unwanted surprises, but that carefully curated existence is thrown into disarray when her husband (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) vanishes amidst an FBI raid of his software startup. All Hannah’s given is a handwritten note requesting she protect his 16-year-old daughter (Angourie Rice). The mismatched duo must dodge investigators and a host of seedy figures while attempting to uncover the truth behind their newfound state of jeopardy.

Exclusive: Studiocanal has acquired rights to develop Peter Cameron’s well-received 2020 novel What Happens At Night into a feature film, with Martin Scorsese aboard to produce and Oscar nominee Patrick Marber (Notes On A Scandal) adapting the screenplay.
What Happens At Night, a finalist for the LA Times‘ Book Prize for Fiction, is a dream-like story of a married American couple who travel to a small, snowy European town to adopt a baby.
The couple check into a cavernous, largely deserted hotel where they encounter an enigmatic cast of characters including a flamboyant chanteuse, a depraved businessman and a charismatic faith healer. Nothing is quite as it seems in this strange, frozen world. As the couple struggle to claim their baby, the less they seem to know about themselves and the life they’ve built together.

We’re still months away from clarity regarding this year’s Oscars race, but a glance at the upcoming releases reveals several likely craft contenders reuniting longtime collaborators or pairing intriguing sensibilities for the first time. Among them: Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon,” Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two,” Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon,” Bradley Cooper’s “Maestro,” Wes Anderson’s “Astroid City,” and Yargos Lanthimos’ “Poor Things.”
These concern momentous events — historical as well as fictional. The moral struggle of “Oppenheimer’s” titular scientist (Cillian Murphy) as a result of developing the atomic bomb; “Flower Moon’s” fact-based serial murders of Osage tribal landowners in Oklahoma in the ’20s, which led to the formation of the FBI; the continuation of the destructive messianic prophecy in “Dune”; the titular military genius (Joaquin Phoenix) consumed by love and power in “Napoleon”; the complex life of...

If you wanted to gauge how far the growing Greek TV industry has come in just a few short years, you’d have to look no further than last month in Lille, France, where Series Mania offered a splashy showcase for the Mediterranean nation’s sudden rise.
The prestigious French fest opened with Amazon Prime Video’s “Greek Salad,” director Cédric Klapisch’s follow-up to his beloved “Spanish Apartment” trilogy that chose Athens as the setting for its portrait of contemporary Europe at a crossroads. Meanwhile, a Greek series bowed in the festival’s international competition for the first time: Vasilis Kekatos’ “Milky Way.”
Directed by the short film Palme d’Or winner and inviting comparisons to “Euphoria” from festivalgoers, the envelope-pushing teen drama (pictured) is part of a bold new wave of Greek storytelling that reflects an industry striving to reach new heights. “We have amazing talents in Greece.

After canceling its 2020 edition and moving to July in the midst of Covid in 2021, the Cannes Film Festival reaffirmed its stature last year as the world’s biggest platform for international cinema. The red carpet welcomed Hollywood blockbusters and celebrated auteurs alike, launching them into commercial and awards season success in the months that followed.
Of course, one successful year can establish huge expectations for the next one. With that in mind, the 52 movies announced by the festival today have a lot of promise, but it’s also tough to get a read on both the quality and potential impact of the so-called Official Selection. Moviegoers may have returned to theaters, but Cannes-caliber arthouse releases continue to struggle worldwide. The venerated Competition section emphasizes old-school auteurs, from Ken Loach to Aki Kaurismaki, whose movies may be worthy of anticipation and will have knowledgable critics eager to dive in.

The following post contains spoilers about “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves”
Before he hunkers down to prep for the “Maestro” awards campaign, Bradley Cooper has one small thing to get out of the way: a surprise cameo in “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” as a little person.
Roughly halfway through the new fantasy comedy, Cooper appears as a character named Marlamin, the former romantic partner of the heroic Holga (Michelle Rodriguez). The twist is that while Holga is the size of Rodriguez, Marlamin is about the height of an average Hobbit.

“The Night Agent” might not be pulling “Wednesday” numbers, but the new thriller series had a very strong first week on Netflix.
The Shawn Ryan-created thriller topped Netflix’s Global Top 10 English TV series list in its first week of availability, with 168.71 million hours viewed. That’s the most for Week 1 of a new Netflix series, English-language or otherwise, since “Wednesday.” And we’re only counting four days of viewing, as “The Night Agent” debuted on a Thursday; Sunday night is Netflix’s weekly cutoff.
Beyond new debuts, “The Night Agent’s” start was the single best week for a show since Season 2 of “Ginny & Georgia” premiered to 180 hours viewed. Last week marked the third-biggest week for the debut of a Netflix show since the streamer started publicizing the Top 10 lists.

March is a time for madness, whether it comes from basketball, Mercury retrograde, or a person’s home streaming habits. Netflix joins in on the chaos by updating its library with all three “Hangover” movies, a whole lot of workout content, “Magic Mike Xxl,” and much, much more.
On March 9, the streamer will premiere Part 2 of “You” Season 2, starring Penn Badgley, Charlotte Ritchie, and Ed Speleers. The five remaining episodes find Joe (Badgley) trapped in a volatile dance with London mayoral candidate and serial killer Rhys (Speleers), trying to prevent more murders but also not go down for the many he’s committed in the process. The trailer shows Joe and Kate (Ritchie) growing closer, more brushes with Kate’s wealthy socialite friends, and the return of Victoria Pedretti as Joe’s wife Love — or maybe the ghost of his wife, and of sins past.

Bradley Cooper is calling on conductors to fact-check just how difficult their profession is.
Cooper, while in conversation with “TÁR” writer-director Todd Field and actresses Cate Blanchett and Nina Hoss for a Focus Features awards season roundtable, gave insights into upcoming Leonard Bernstein film “Maestro.” Cooper portrays the legendary conductor and composer and also directs the feature. The real-life Bernstein is name-checked in Field’s “TÁR” by problematic fictional conductor Lydia Tár (Blanchett) as one of her mentors.
“I can’t wait to see your film about Bernstein,” Blanchett told Cooper during the video.
The “A Star Is Born” director said, “Having worked on a project in the same world [as ‘TÁR’], the level of respect that I have for that world and that podium, it is the most terrifying thing I’ve ever experienced. And it’s so odd because so many people — I don’t know if you’ve come...

Netflix released a “Save The Date” video Wednesday morning, highlighting its most mainstream (and likely biggest budget) titles from now until the end of the year. (The “Save The Date” did not say where they were registered or if the affair was black tie.)
To the tune of “Industry Baby” by Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow, the sizzle reel is bursting with action and a surprising amount of A-list stars. Some are sequels, like Chris Hemsworth back for the international thriller (and chase scene-primed) “Extraction 2,” out June 16, and Adam Sandler and Jennifer Anniston cracking wise and solving crimes in “Murder Mystery 2,” out March 31. Also, Idris Elba is back as the British detective John Luther after five seasons of BBC television in “Luther: The Fallen Sun,” out March 10.
Other notable titles include “The Killer,” from director David Fincher, starring Michael Fassbender and Tilda Swinton (out November 10), based on a French graphic novel,...

Netflix has unveiled its 2023 movie preview, which includes Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler’s whodunit sequel “Murder Mystery 2,” Zack Snyder’s space epic “Rebel Moon,” director David Fincher’s assassin thriller “The Killer” and at least 30 other films.
It’s a smaller — though still staggering — output compared to previous years. In 2021 and again in 2022, Netflix debuted roughly 70 films in its promise to premiere at least one film each week. But after a tough period for the company, including layoffs and its first quarterly subscriber loss in quite some time, it has scaled back the number of films on schedule.

Carey Mulligan and Margot Robbie know each other, having worked together on Emerald Fennell’s “Promising Young Woman,” which Mulligan starred in and Robbie produced through her company, LuckyChap Entertainment. So when they sit down to discuss their recent projects — Mulligan’s turn in “She Said” as Megan Twohey, the New York Times reporter whose investigative work with Jodi Kantor helped bring down Harvey Weinstein, and Robbie’s portrayal in “Babylon” of Nellie Laroy, a self-destructive silent film star — it’s like watching two old friends chatting. Bradley Cooper may be taking on one of Steve McQueen’s most famous roles in a new Steven Spielberg film.
The actor and director will reportedly play San Francisco cop Frank Bullitt in a movie based on the 1968 classic.
According to Deadline, McQueen’s son, Chad, and granddaughter, Molly, will executive produce alongside Spielberg.
Bullitt gave McQueen one of his most memorable characters, and is renowned for featuring one of cinema’s most impressive car chase scenes.
Spielberg will direct the film from a script that’s being written by Josh Singer, who was behind Spotlight and the Spielberg-directed The Post.
Deadline claims that the filmmaker has been talking to Cooper about the role since the pandemic.
It will mark their first actor-director collaboration, although they had a near-miss after Spielberg stepped away from American Sniper.
The film was ultimately directed by Clint Eastwood and earned Cooper his third Oscar nomination.

Bradley Cooper is set to star in Steven Spielberg’s next film, which will be based on Steve McQueen’s Frank Bullitt character, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Cooper will play the role of Frank Bullitt, even though Spielberg’s film will not be a remake of the 1968 film Bullitt, a car chase-filled actioner. Instead, Spielberg plans a new take on the tough San Francisco cop that McQueen played in the original film.

When the witness is murdered, Bullitt is set on a path to track down the killers. The film earned two Oscar nominations and featured a head-turning, 11-minute car chase sequence. One of the greatest filmmakers of all time, one of the best actors of our generation, and one of the most thrilling action/thrillers the genre has ever given us? Yeah, you could say we're excited for this news.
We knew that the living legend Steven Spielberg had his sights set on putting his own stamp on the 1968 classic "Bullitt," starring Steve McQueen and featuring one of the most heralded car chase sequences ever put to film. At the time, the untitled film had yet to feature a completed screenplay, a main lead, or even a distributor. Most of those somewhat crucial elements are still unconfirmed, but we at least have a better idea of who Spielberg is intent on casting to fill the unfillable shoes of the action star McQueen. No pressure or anything!

Projects come and go, some get announced and never happen, and sometimes filmmakers lose interest. But Steven Spielberg’s remake of Steve McQueen’s action car chase classic “Bullitt” (1968) looks like it is not only moving forward, but his next film as Bradley Cooper has been cast in the lead role.
Set up at Warner Bros., Deadline says Cooper will also produce the pic along with Spielberg and his producing partner Kristie Macosko Krieger (who also produced Cooper’s next film “Maestro”).

Steven Spielberg has found his Bullitt. Bradley Cooper has been cast in the director’s upcoming original film about Frank Bullitt, the character made famous from the 1968 Steven McQueen thriller.
Based on the 1963 novel “Mute Witness” by Robert L. Fish, the original “Bullitt” starred the late McQueen as the title character, a San Francisco Police Department lieutenant seeking to take down Chicago mobster Johnny Ross (Pat Renella). Spielberg will direct the new Warner Bros. film, which will not be a remake of the original movie by Peter Yates, instead telling a completely original story starring Bullitt. Sources close to the project confirmed the news to IndieWire.
Cooper will join Spielberg and Kristie Macosko Krieger as producers on the film — the three also serve as producers on Cooper’s upcoming feature “Maestro,” about the life of Leonard Bernstein. That film, currently in post-production, is set to release on Netflix in 2023. Oscar-winning...

Steven Spielberg is clearly feeling nostalgic. Following the stellar one-two punch of his West Side Story remake and looking back once more for his autobiographical drama The Fabelmans, he’s going to mine cinema history again with his next project.
It was announced earlier this year that he was teaming with Warner Bros. for a new film based on Steve McQueen’s character of Frank Bullitt from Peter Yates’ 1968 film Bullitt. That film was based on the 1963 novel Mute Witness, following a San Francisco cop, Bullitt, who was protecting a witness who gets killed by the mob, so he investigates. As scripted by Josh Singer, the film won’t be a remake, but a new story featuring the character.

It was announced earlier this year that Steven Spielberg was developing a new movie based on Bullit, the classic action thriller movie starring Steve McQueen, and it appears that the director has found his leading man. Deadline has reported that Bradley Cooper has just closed a deal to play Frank Bullitt.
Based on Mute Witness by Robert L. Fish, the original film starred Steve McQueen as a no-nonsense San Francisco cop who becomes determined to track down the underworld kingpin who killed the witness in his protection. Steven Spielberg will direct the new Bullitt movie as well as produce it, with Josh Singer writing the script. However, this new project will not be a remake of the 1968 film but will tell an original story with the Frank Bullitt character at its center. Steve McQueen’s children, Chad and Molly McQueen, will executive produce the Bullitt project, as will Bradley Cooper.

Bradley Cooper is set to star in Steven Spielberg’s upcoming film, an original feature based on the character of Frank Bullitt, the no-nonsense San Francisco cop played by Steve McQueen in the 1968 action-thriller “Bullitt.”
Josh Singer is writing the screenplay for the film, which is currently in development at Warner Bros. Though plot details haven’t been revealed, the forthcoming production is expected to follow Bullitt on an entirely different exploit than the McQueen original’s.
Warner Bros. released the original “Bullitt,” which was directed by Peter Yates and based on the 1963 novel “Mute Witness.” In what became McQueen’s most notable role, he portrayed a detective who investigates the death of a mob informant he was hired to protect. The movie is famous for including one of the most iconic and exciting car chases in cinema history with McQueen doing his own stunts in a modified Ford Mustang.
