Three Hits Or Four?
ccthemovieman-119 January 2012
A homicide, a suicide and an accident, all in one shift. All the CSI people need now is a natural death and they have "hit for the cycle." That's a baseball term for a player hitting a single, double, triple and homer all in the same game.

The CSI personnel wage money on whether they can hit for that cycle or not. There are numerous bets made and numerous fatalities. We go through all of them, so each story is fairly short.

Mixed into the story in an extremely-obnoxious young ME intern from Los Angeles, who winds up figuring into the betting pool.

Did they hit the cycle? You'll have to watch. It's like watching a long fly ball and wondering, "Is it fair or is it foul?"

Bottom of the Ninth

The CSI's and others make a bet concerning whether a natural death will occur before the shift is over. There are several calls but all of them involve homicides, accidents, suicides, or other non-natural deaths. Everyone has money in the pot so they are watching every step of the way. The individual cases themselves are unique, including the suspicious death of a gamer who weighs about 600 pounds.

The Bet

During the night shift, the team logs a suicide, a homicide, and an accidental death. They bet whether there will be a natural cause death and who will investigate before the end of the shift. The selfish Kelvin from Los Angeles is the new assistant of Dr. Robbins. Catherine, Greg, Sara and Jim Brass investigate the death of the obese Steven Pyles, aka "Dv8Avenger", who is addicted in videogame. Meanwhile, Nick and Langston investigate the death of Benjamin Fowler, who has just divorced his wife and was found at the bottom of a swimming pool in the house of his friends that are lodging him. They suspect of a robbery followed by a homicide.

"Hitting for the Cycle" is a good episode of CSI with an ironical conclusion. Both cases are engaging, with many twists in the investigation. There are many suspects that prove to be innocent, but in the end the truth is revealed. The conclusion is funny, with the end of the night shift. My vote is seven.
