- A man is murdered right before he is to deliver an important speech about human trafficking at a conference. Psychic Kristina Frye is brought in to help CBI solve the case, even though Patrick remains skeptical about her "gift."
- At a San Desidera, California Human Rights conference, Sheltering Light Foundation against human trafficking leader Hector Brava has his skull smashed with a hotel fire extinguisher just before his speech. According to his researcher and PA Russell Bigelow, he was to expose that Christopher Lynch's World Anti-Traficking Coalition is a front for traffickers eliminating their competition. Patrick soon realizes Hector and his widow Ilsa Engels reproached each-others affairs, he perhaps with the mysterious Carmen whose call lured him to the murder place. Patrick is most skeptic about collaborating with 'psychoic analyst' Kristina Frye, whom sheriff Andy Burnside enlisted.—KGF Vissers
- During a Human Rights Convention, the main speaker Hector Brava receives a phone call and is murdered at the hotel kitchen before his speech. The CBI team is assigned to investigate the case and they interview his assistant and researcher Russell Bigelow. He informs that Brava would disclose that the NOG directed by Christopher Lynch belongs indeed to traffickers and is used to cover their operation. When Patrick and Lisbon visit the widow Ilsa Engels, he suspects that the case may be caused by love affairs of Brava and Ilsa and a woman called Carmen may be the key to resolve the case. Meanwhile, Sheriff Andy Burnside brings the psychic Kristina Frye to help to solve the case.—Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- Global Human Rights Conference Christopher Lynch nervously awaits the arrival of Hector Brava, who's giving a speech soon. Brava gets a text from "Carmen" to meet in the hall. He walks off and his handler waits past the time his speech was supposed to start. She goes down the hall...and finds him dead in a pool of blood.
Lisbon and Jane meet Sheriff Burnside, who tells them Brava ran an organization against human trafficking. Brava's head was bashed in. They found a fire extinguisher with blood on it. The sheriff says Brava's wallet is there, so it wasn't a robbery. But Jane asks where the speech is. He thinks the murder feels like an act of desperation.
"That's just what our psychic said," says the sheriff. Kristina Frye (Leslie Hope), Jane's old flirt buddy/nemesis.
Jane finds her talking to the handler and is instantly suspicious. He starts in immediately accusing her of being a fake, but she remains calm.
Cho reports the text came from a dead drop phone.
Lisbon and Jane interview Mrs. Brava, Elsa Engels. She didn't know what the speech was about and he had it on him. She directs them to Russell Bigelow, his researcher.
Kristina soothingly tells Elsa she has a message from her husband to make her smile, an image of a cherry tree. Elsa says she's a skeptic but warms because they were married under a cherry tree. Jane snarks that she can tell her about wedding foliage but not who killed him.
Jane sees Elsa stoicism and asks if they were faithful. She frisbees a saucer at his head and asks them to leave.
Cho and Rigsby talk to Russell Bigelow.
He's scared to talk but says the World Anti-Trafficking Coalition helped them shut down trafficking networks but is really a front for a trafficking group and they used them to shut down the competition. It's run by Christopher Lynch. Brava's speech was going to denounce them in public.
Rigsby and Cho talk to Lynch, who denies everything and offers access to all their records. The name "Carmen" means nothing to him. He says the second night of the convention he saw Brava arguing with Tariq Sharif, he thought it was over a woman.
Rigsby reports he didn't immediately see anything suspicious in the records Lynch turned over. Cho found that after they talked to him, Lynch made a single call to a disposable cell in the middle of nowhere.
Jane and Lisbon visit the convention bar looking for Tariq and find hot women everywhere. Out by the pool they find Kristina already with Tariq. He's wearing sunglasses at night. Lisbon tells him to take them off and he reveals a shiner.
Jane thinks it was about Elsa, so does Kristina. He says they were drawn to each other but nothing happened. He calls Brava a hypocrite and says the night before he died he saw a young woman leaving his hotel room. Tariq assumed she was a prostitute. Kristina guesses it was Carmen.
At the location where the disposable cell signal came from Cho and Rigsby find an abandoned warehouse of some sort. They scale the fence and look around. They hear noises. They bust open a semi truck and find it packed with people.
Back at CBI HQ, they interrogate Lynch, who claims ignorance and asks for a lawyer. Jane thinks he's a sociopath. Hightower thinks the phone call is enough to send him away. She sees Kristina waiting in an office and turns to Jane, telling him Kristina likes him and asks if he's considered dating.
When Kristina comes out, he immediately mocks her again, suggesting she consult a spirit. He leaves. Kristina follows and they agree Lynch didn't kill Brava. They get in an elevator and she invites herself along to talk to Elsa, where she assumes he's going.
Talking to Elsa, he opens with an apology and Kristina asks about Tariq. Elsa says Tariq was drunk and acted like a pig.
As Kristina asks about the night Brava died, Jane looks around Elsa's room and sees her wedding picture taken outdoors -- with a date in March and Washington DC on the frame. He smiles, thinking he's figured Kristina out.
Elsa says if Tariq said her husband was with a woman, he was lying.
Outside, Kristina and Jane awkwardly give excuses to leave. He "compliments" her on the cherry blossom call, noting March is during the cherry blossom festival in DC. She says he credits her with far too much cunning.
When she leaves, Jane calls Lisbon, asking her to meet him in the hotel bar.
He sits down at the bar with a sexy foreign woman who calls herself "Novella" as Lisbon tries to figure where he's going with things. Jane calls the bartender over and asks if he's the pimp. He calls himself a manager and tells him it'll be more for a threesome. Lisbon flashes her badge and Jane shows him a picture with Tariq in it. He doesn't recognize Tariq, but he picks out Russell as having picked up a girl the other night.
Lisbon interviews Russell, who claims he couldn't afford it. Lisbon clarifies that she means he got a woman for his boss. He admits it.
Van Pelt talks to the hooker, Claret ("it's French.") She says he wanted to make it regular for Thursdays at his townhouse in Oakland.
Cho and Rigsby check it out. Cho finds an ad for a "Carmen," really a hooker named Sally Alvarez.
Back at HQ, Van Pelt says a Carmen Reyes called Brava at the hotel twice the night he died. Jane pipes up that he thinks there are two Carmens.
Kristina sneaks up on Jane outside Carmen's seedy hotel. She jokes she had a premonition they'd be there, then says Lisbon called her.
When they mention the name Sally Alvarez, Kristina says she communicated with her and she's passed over.
Cho follows up on Alvarez' address and finds Sally dead inside.
Meanwhile, at the motel they find Carmen Reyes- she claims to be Hector Brava's daughter.
Back at HQ, Carmen tells Van Pelt her mom died suddenly of cancer recently. She told her Brava was her father. She wrote him but he didn't write back. She saw he was giving a speech and went to confront him. She went to see him the night before at his hotel.
She says he was friendly until she told him she was his daughter. He said he already met his daughter and asked what kind of scam she was running. He ran her off.
Lisbon, Jane and Kristina go back to talk to Elsa, who says she couldn't have children and finally admits she knew about his cheating. She dismisses his "flaws," saying he did great things. She claims she loved him and he loved her. Jane suggests Kristina contact Hector.
Later, he lines up the attendees for the séance and coaches Kristina to make sure Brava's spirit has a thirst for revenge. But she earnestly tells him she can't misrepresent him, it would be abusing her gift.
The group arrives for the séance and Kristina says Jane will be assisting her. It includes Elsa, Tariq, Carmen and the handler.
Kristina says Hector is there and Jane takes over, saying he sees the killer. He slams his hand down and Russell falls out of his chair.
Jane announces the experiment over because they know Russell did it. Lisbon points out he was the first one to read Brava's mail so he would have gotten the message from Carmen first.
He hired Sally the hooker to pose as Brava's daughter but have sex with him first. Then he told Brava he'd slept with his own daughter. But the real Carmen showed up.
Kristina wraps up saying Russell will pay for the crime he committed and his blood will spill before the sun rises. Jane's dubious.
Back at HQ, Russell confesses. He says Brava was ungrateful the whole time he worked for him and he planned to blackmail him.
Brava called him when the real Carmen showed up, but later it was clear he'd figured it out. So Russell texted Brava and bashed his head in. He killed Sally to cover it up.
Kristina comes to say good bye to Jane on his couch and says she only said what the spirits told her to. Lisbon mentions that Kristina was wrong about Russell's blood being spilled. Then Carmen comes around the corner and decks her dad's killer in the face, giving him a bloody nose.
He walks her out to the car, still skeptical. They shake hands good night. As she's walking away he stops and invites her to coffee. She says yes, but that she has to be somewhere now, but "definitely sometime soon."
