Although it is true there is an "Alberta Building" in New York (at Riverside Park), it is not the one depicted in the episode, and the name of the architect, Lewis Lamar Skolnick, is completely made up. In fact, Lewis Skolnick and Lamar were both characters in Revenge of the Nerds.
The effetely off-color "Constance Frye" song that Will Shortz, Ted (Josh Radnor), Jefferson Van Smoot (Michael York) and Peter Bogdanovich sing at the party is from Trading Places (1983), in which it is sung by Louis Winthorpe III (Dan Aykroyd) and his rich, insufferable friends.
The billboard for Mustache Marshall translates to: Mr. Justice! Make the right call, Call Mr. Justice.
The robot which fought the doppelgänger of Ted is the same robot as is seen in the Season 14 episode of ChickleVision, titled Run Robot Run (Episode 11).
