New York has a new Housewife.
People has learned that Tinsley Mortimer has been filming scenes for The Real Housewives of New York City‘s upcoming season, and a source reveals that the troubled socialite will be taking the place of last season’s newest cast member Jules Wainstein, who became embroiled in a contentious divorce after the show finished filming.
Mortimer, 41, is certainly no stranger to either reality TV or personal drama.
Formerly the star of The CW’s 2010 series High Society, she was arrested this past April for trespassing on her ex-boyfriend’s property in Palm Beach, Florida.

It’s never wise to tangle with Johnny Law, and Tinsley Mortimer learned her lesson after getting arrested on Saturday (April 9) in Palm Beach, Florida.
The “High Society” starlet was charged with trespassing after crashing a private party on El Dorado Lane, though she only received a misdemeanor.
According to the police report, “[Tinsley] was crying and screaming irrationally stating that her boyfriend … was inside with another woman and she only wanted to retrieve her purse from inside.” Meanwhile, the unnamed owner of the home insisted that he and Mortimer were no longer a couple and that her handbag was not inside his residence.

Did anyone else on this planet watch, uh... that show, that CW show... shit, what the hell was the name? Hold on one second. [Runs to Wikipedia.] Ah, right — High Society. Did anyone else on this planet watch High Society, that true train wreck of the reality TV genre that "followed" the "life" of Tinsley Mortimer and her "socialite" "friends"? (I'm not even sure how to describe it. Everything was wrong. The show had anti-narrative.) If you did, then you already know Devorah Rose, the ridiculously named social climber/editor of a fake magazine. If you didn't, this is Devorah Rose: (I'm truly sorry about that. Also, in case you were confused, Devorah is the giant praying mantis next to the lady in the ridiculous hat.) This seems like the kind of woman that celebrated novelist and Booker [...]...

After last week's episode of 90210 — which featured Teddy and Marco's relationship "fast forwarding" past the first date, the second date and well who knows how many dates — this week I totally expected to tune in and find the duo settled in a civil union and setting up play dates with Kevin and Scotty from Brothers & Sisters.
Instead, we got something much worse — Harper, the crazy "loser" girl who has planned all of the school dances for the past four years had more of a storyline than Teddy and Marco.
I kid you not.
Sure, Teddy won Prom King and even danced briefly with Marco, but that was it. Otherwise, he was in the background holding up the scenery. Hell, he didn't even show up until halfway through the episode when we finally caught a glimpse of him and Marco arriving at the prom. Teddy then gets crowned Prom King and...

Last week, GLAAD released its 4th annual Network Responsibility Index. The purpose of the report is to evaluate Glbt representation on television by trying to assign a quantitative number to Glbt representation on primetime television for the five major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, The CW, Fox, NBC) and the top ten cable networks (MTV, ABC Family, TNT, Showtime, Lifetime, FX, HBO, USA, A&E, TBS).
GLAAD defines their methodology as counting “major and minor” impressions, an "impression" being anytime a Glbt character appears onscreen. Even two straight characters discussing marriage equality counts as a minor impression.
To determine each network’s final rating, GLAAD counts up the total impressions and divides by the number of original hours of programming the network airs. That number is the percentage of Glbt inclusive hours aired by each network.
GLAAD also looks at racial diversity and diversity in the “G” vs “L” vs “B...

The final of the 2010 World Cup was huge for Spain and pretty big in the United States as well.
The match, which saw Spain beat the Netherlands, 1-0, on Andres Iniesta's goal near the end of extra time, drew the biggest audience ever for a men's World Cup match. Espn says close to 15.5 million people tuned into the game, which aired on ABC Sunday afternoon (July 11).
Incidentally, that's the second time we've written a vairation on "biggest audience ever for a men's World Cup match" during this year's tournament. The U.S.-Ghana game on June 26, which drew 14.9 million people, held the record for all of two weeks.

If you're a regular reader here at Are You Screening?, that title alone is going to demand a bit of explanation, and I'm inclined to give it to you. We'll see how it goes. Among the latest crop of shows to partake of the theory that as long as living human beings are in front of the camera, there are, ipso facto, "real" people in front of the camera, and therefore you can call yourself reality television is the CW's High Society. Basically, it's the Tinsley Mortimer show, with other New York socialites (or whatever) being involved by way of some connection to Tinsley, whether that be friend, enemy, or frenemy (I could watch Gossip Girl). Notable members of the cast include- Paul Johnson Calderon, actually billed on the show as "Page Six Scandal Boy," and Jules Kirby, actually billed on the show as "trust-fund partier." The former apparently has some vague connection to Tinsley,...

Even though Devorah and Jules were both mysteriously absent from tonight’s proceedings, Tinsley’s insanity and a healthy dose of Dale made this one entertaining half-hour of television.
“My life is like a tennis match,” Tinsley tells us as we watch her literally play tennis. “A constant back and forth. And lately, my thoughts are bouncing back to Topper!” Uh-oh: we smell shenanigans on the Upper East Side. Er, or in Midtown, where Tinsley’s living post-divorce.
After getting out her aggression on the court, Tinz goes to see some buyers about her handbags. “Wait, don’t film this,” she says as two of her bags fall from the trunk of a car to the ground. In a confessional, she explains that she’s just frazzled because at 5:30 this morning, Topper came to her apartment. Whaaaa?...

Who's richer than Richie Rich, Puss In Boots steps out, what is Inception, and Russell T Davies, please step away from the series.
O.K., there are many things I don’t know about Twilight, but ranking way up there is the fact that sparkly vampire daddy Carlisle Cullen is worth $34.1 billion thanks to compound interest over the 370 years of his life. This ranks him as the wealthiest fictional character, higher than Scrooge McDuck ($33.5 billion) and even Richie Rich ($11.5 billion). Most amazingly, Forbes paid someone to figure this out and published it.
Alan Cumming has dropped out of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark in favor of his expanded role on The Good Wife. And the fact that the show actually exists.

The CW recently began airing a new reality show, High Society, that follows the wealthy "in crowd." Is the series rich in ratings?
High Society revolves around a group of young and beautiful New York socialites. The cast includes Alexandra Osipow, Dabney Mercer, Dale Mercer, Devorah Rose, Jules Kirby, Paul Johnson Calderon, and Tinsley Mortimer.
The series got off to a slow start on March 10th with just a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.26 million viewers. The second episode dropped in total viewers though the 18-49 demo remained the same.
The numbers haven't gotten better and have continued to fall. This week's installment, the show's sixth, attracted just a 0.3 rating and 0.77 million viewers. These are terrible numbers, even by CW standards and many cable shows are performing better.

For some weird reason, the people over at Harper's Bazaar thought it was necessary to give the women of Jersey Shore a lesson in etiquette. Why would they want to do that? Snooki, J-WoWW, and Sammi have displayed nothing but class and cultivated taste throughout the show. Either way, the girls were the subject of an classy makeover photo-shoot with High Society reality socialite Tinsley Mortimer. The girls balanced books and then shed their cheap leggings and guidette fashions for glamorous ball gowns. The girls clean-up nice, don't you think? However, in a bizarre twist of fate, scraping off the orange spackle...

Socialite/reality show star Tinsley Mortimer has another new man in her life. The platinum blonde has been dating 26-year-old nightlife player Brian Mazza, who first met her while she was shooting a scene for her CW show, "High Society." Mortimer and Mazza -- vice president of hospitality at the Paige Group, which owns Manhattan restaurants The Hill and Ainsworth, as well as Dune in Southampton -- were spotted dining at Ainsworth on Tuesday, and later popped by the Ace Hotel. "They looked very couple-y," says a spy. "They kissed a lot and left hand-in-hand.

High Society star Tinsley Mortimer has reportedly admitted that she was an "emotional wreck" while filming the CW show. The socialite and designer, who filed for divorce last July, told People that she went "through a lot" while working on the series, but was happy to show viewers who she really is. "I was an emotional wreck! The divorce hit me hard... I already get negative press. This is my chance to set the record straight," she said. Mortimer previously told Digital Spy that one of the main reasons she agreed to the show was to address the misconception that her life is perfect. (more)...

Last week, The CW debuted High Society, a docudrama following Tinsley Mortimer and other New York socialites including Jules Kirby and Paul Johnson Calderon. Despite Tinsley's headline-generating life and the latter two being reprehensible and horrifying human beings, the show was The CW's "least-watched series premiere this season," with only 1.26 million viewers. But since then it's gotten attention because of horrible comments made by Jules Kirby. On the first episode, she says, "My friends...

The CW is still making every attempt to promote its new reality series "High Society". Although the show centering on Tinsley Mortimer debuted to only 1.26 million viewers, the network would bring it back for another episode on March 17. Some sneak peeks from the episode are released.
In the first clip, Jules Kirby scolds the maid in their hotel for not living up to her standard. Portrayed as a villain, the roommate of Tinsley's sister said that the show put her in the wrong shoes. "I am sorry if you were offended," she wrote on Facebook. "The show is scripted, and we are given lines and characters. My grandmother is married to a Jew ...Everything was cut and pasted to make it look like I was a stupid b---h, and I regret that they do not do a better job of saying it is a docu-soap, not a reality show."

Oh, the irony. The premiere of the CW's new show "High Society" drew extremely low ratings. In fact, it's the least-watched premiere in the network's history.
The new reality series "High Society," which follows a group of young, rich Manhattanites, stars Tinsley Mortimer and a cast of unlikable twenty-to-thirty-somethings, including socialite Jules Kirby, a white blonde who admits to using the N-word and spews lines like, "My friends do not tend to be homosexuals, fat or Jewish people and black guys, and I only like white guys." At least any racist or homophobic slurs from the cast of "Jersey Shore" were off-screen.
But with that, the CW earns its lowest-rated premiere ever, earning only 1.26 million viewers. Breathe easy, Ashton Kutcher. That's even less than your swiftly-cancelled model drama "The Beautiful Life," which debuted with 1.38 million but didn't make it past its second episode.

Tinsley Mortimer is a socialite in transition. Newly single for the first time, she's moving out of her perfect Upper East Side apartment she shared with husband Topper (great-grandson of the president of Standard Oil), to – gasp – Midtown! In the words of her mother Dale, Tinsley is risking everything. (by getting divorced? by moving? by being independent?) According to Dale, the estranged couple should just stay together because, "their initials are even the same, Topper and Tinsley. It's just like it was meant to be!" But Tinsley wants more from life than just a family with euphonious names - she...

High Society star Tinsley Mortimer recently worked with the members of Jersey Shore. Does this mean the Snooki Poof is in Tinsley’s future?
Tinsley Mortimer may be High Society, but that doesn’t make her a Park Avenue snob. The socialite was really excited to meet the cast of MTV’s Jersey Shore — she bumped into The Situation and Pauly D at a recording studio, where she was doing voiceovers for her own show and the guys were shooting for Rachael Ray.
According to E! Online, she’s worked with J-Woww, Snooki and Sammi as well, although it’s not clear on what. However, Tinsley finds the girls “so funny and so themselves” and she would love to have them on her show new CW show, High Society. “Have them come to New York, sure!” she says. “It would be amazing.”
