Years after societies collapse from the deadly Vivid-22 virus, a programmer living alone in a cabin finds a mysterious young woman injured in his garden. Helping is the right thing to do, but she could also be infected.

The game begins with a summary of the deadly Vivid-22 virus and the effect it has had on the world and our protagonist(Daniel Acosta, Katelyn Barr),we also learn more on who our protagonist is and what they are like. We cut to present day, our protagonist is going through their daily routine on a stormy night when they hear a scream. After some debate, they go outside to investigate. They find a young woman in their garden, stuck in a bear trap. They help, even though they are terrified of the possibility of the girl being infected. After cleaning her wound, they agree to let the girl stay. They try to get more information from the girl, but are only able to get her name, it's Mallory(Mallory Echelmeyer), they both head off to sleep in their own beds. The protagonist wakes up to the sound of the fire alarm going off, when they go to investigate, they find Mallory has burned an attempt at breakfast, ruined the potatoes in the garden, and then Mallory accidentally overloads the power for the cabin. The protagonist is upset at this and goes to check on the garden, where they notice the bear trap once more. After some careful deliberation, they decide to move it. After returning to the inside of the cabin, they find everything to be sparkling clean, but they also hear the sound of splashing water. The protagonist rushes to investigate and sure enough, Mallory had taken a bath wasting precious water from the limited water supply. The protagonist rushes to check their supply, things should be fine as long as it rains again in the upcoming days. The protagonist continues to work, when they find Mallory cooking again, this time the food looks and smells delicious, they eat together and the protagonist tries to get more information about Mallory. Not much is learned but it seems clear Mallory has nowhere to go. The protagonist decides to let Mallory stay and apologizes for their rude behavior earlier in the day. They both then head off to sleep separate once more. Day has come again, and the protagonist smells something good. They head downstairs to see Mallory once again preparing breakfast, at her request, they give her a bottle of aspirin to help with her leg. They spend the rest of the day together in the garden doing farm work, with the protagonist showing and teaching Mallory how to take care of the plant life alongside introducing her to the baby chicks and their aquaponics lab. The protagonist goes more into detail about their parents, and they and Mallory spend the rest of the day together. The smell of breakfast wakes our protagonist once more, and they and Mallory spend the day together doing more yard work until it starts to rain. Later in the day, Mallory asks the protagonist why they had bear traps set up in their garden, and they tell her the story about their old dog Lola, who disappeared after what seemed to be an encounter with a grizzly. The protagonist tries to find more out about Mallory, and decides to ask her about her past. She tells them about her dreams she had to go to the planetarium near where she used to live. After all this serious conversation, they decide to watch a fun movie together with popcorn and wine before heading to bed. The protagonist is sleeping in, so Mallory wakes them up with a pounce attack and breakfast in bed. After getting up, it seems the rain outside is still pouring, they decide to stay inside for the day and play chess together. During the match, Mallory notices the clouds breaking, and they go outside to watch and observe it. After heading back inside, the protagonist makes them both tea, and goes even more into detail about their parents. The protagonist begs Mallory for more information about where she came from, and she finally agrees to tell her story. Mallory grew up with her sister and mother in an apartment in a nearby abandoned worn down city with power outages and hardly any resources or food. One day her mother got infected and passed away in their home, leaving Mallory and her sister to fend for themselves. Mallory was cleaning clothes when her sister locked her out and revealed that she was infected and didn't want Mallory to get sick, in tears, Mallory was forced to leave and started to wander until she found the cabin. Mallory and the protagonist comfort each other before the protagonist has to check on a stew they had started to cook. After eating a thunder storm starts and they head to bed. The protagonist awakes from a close shriek in the night, and finds Mallory in the bed with them. Mallory is terrified by the thunder, and the protagonist comforts her as they sleep together in bed. The protagonist wakes once more alone in the bed and goes downstairs to meet Mallory in the kitchen, they find her cleaning although she seems a little out of it. The protagonist tries to go work when they hear a mug break and a loud thud, they rush to the noise to see Mallory had fainted and is on the ground, after helping them up and checking their temperature, they find she has a fever. The protagonist helps them rest in bed while they look for the aspirin. They can't find it and decide to do everything they can to help Mallory and starts making a soup for her for when she wakes. They look again for the Aspirin and find the bottle under the couch, empty. Mallory later wakes up and the protagonist tries to get her to eat, but she can barely choke any of it down. They both know what this is, but neither wants to admit it. The protagonist helps Mallory into their bed for sleep and makes her a tea to try and help her with her cough. The protagonist sits on the bed with Mallory until they both fall asleep. It's early in the morning, the protagonist is not going to be able to go back to sleep, they check their computer to work when they see it, an email has been sent out detailing R-Pandavax treatment for Vivid-22, it's real. The protagonist RUSHES to get Mallory, but when they check the bed she's gone, they look for her when they find a note. Mallory has left in the hopes she hasn't infected us, and is going to try and find her sister. The protagonist runs out and rushes to find her, when they run into the trap they had moved earlier. They have to keep going and persevere, they reach the city and find a hospital tent. They get help from a doctor inside(Elissa Park)who gives them a radio to call them back when they find Mallory. The protagonist sees Mallory on top of a building near the planetarium and rushes up to them. The protagonist grabs Mallory in their arms and calls for help after remembering the number. Help arrives, and they are both treated and sent home, after getting back, they decide to go stargazing once night comes, together.
